Welcome to RetroRecording, A place where vinyl, tape, film and any other form of "obsolete" recording can be shared!
Once upon a time, before the rise of the digital age, the only way anyone could share anything was to copy it to another tape or get the negatives re-developed.

Hello, new to recording and I’m wondering how can I record stuff onto cassettes with this deck. Can I record stuff from A to B? Can I connect my computer or phone into MIC and record like that?
I’m not a pro at this yet so this is probably lot simpler than I think. I’ve been looking at maybe getting an MTS-30 as a way to sync MIDI tracks from Ableton with other tracks on my 4-track, to get around the common issue of the tape not staying in perfect time. I’ve seen it work with standalone synths and drum machines, but will Ableton respond the same way if I use the midi jacks on my interface? Do I even need an MTS-30 (or any sync box) to achieve this, or is there a VST available for it now?
Ok, so I have the entire set up to make this work (tascam 424, interface, Midiman, all the cables, etc.) and had it working in free version of Reaper before I got Logic Pro. I watched a detailed YouTube video how to hook it all up previously, but that video is no where to be found!
I can stripe the tape with the Midiman, but I’m trying to remember how set it up from a Midi Time Code/general settings standpoint in Reaper and translate that to Logic… anyone here experienced?
I still like making mix tapes as a hobby, and have been doing it since I was 12 in the 90's. Sometimes they're just a collection of whatever music I'm into at the moment (these are nice because they become time capsules later on) but often I like them to follow a certain theme. I generally record from CD's to cassettes, though I also make CD mixes.
An example: Where's God? A mix featuring songs about questioning religion.
