    A thought about mashiba fight

This whole mashiba losing to rosario thing reminds me of when ippo lost his first nacional title fight to date just to come back even stronger. I wanted mashiba to win, but him losing will probably help with ippo coming back to the ring

    We should all calm down

A lot of people are complaining about last issue and I get it, I wanted mashiba to win too. Just because Rosario didn’t take the fight seriously and had bad weight management doesn’t mean he was a scrub that mashiba should have walked through. No matter what the guy was the best in the world at his weight class. We have seen takamura fuck around before a fight, meds up weight, not take a champ or challenger seriously and still manage to destroy them in the world level. Some people are built differently and mashiba wasn’t good enough that night, that’s what matters and we should wait and see what happens before we start burning our copies of the Manga

How to get over it? [MAJOR spoiler]

I know it's just an story, but I was so happy to see Mashiba progressing, both as a character and as a boxer. I was cheering on him, and thought he did everything, from before the fight, to during the fight itself.

I feel like this defeat left a big empty in my heart. I still can't process it, it's almost like a depression, something I've never felt it before.

    About Sendo VS Ippo 1

I'm just watching (had to stop the show to post this) Episode 34 and I have to say, the refs in this manga have ALWAYS been the fucking worst, haven't they? Sendo loses conscience (we learn that later) and starts beating the ever living shit out of Makunoichi. Gong sounds and he keeps going, because he's not conscious, so he can't stop. And it takes the referee almost a minute, Kamogawa's screams and a second gong to realize that MAYBE he should be doing something.

I get it's because the loud cheering is making the bell hard to hear, but he has ONE FUCKING JOB. ONE. Sendo could have killed Ippo.

And then he has the audacity to go and ask Ippo if he's well enough to continue the fight. And when Ippo says he is he looks at Kamogawa, trying to make the coach stop his boxer, because he's a useless fuck who didn't do his job and almost got a kid killed. FUCK. I'm so angry right now!

(I know this is a weird post, sorry about that)

A manga like Slam Dunk showed how to make a controversial decision feel earned and not "asspull", different than last fight's result

For those who didn't read Slam Dunk, in there, the main team Shohoku spend volumes on the match against Sannoh, the biggest, strongest and current champion.

In the last volume, (put a spoiler tag in case people never read it), >!Shohoku manages to win against Sannoh in (imo)!< >!one if not the most epic match in a sports manga I ever read. But they faced Sannoh before the finals of the Nationals, and lost right after and the manga ended.!<

!But there, losing made sense story-wise and irl-wise. Shohoku had some new players, lack of depth (only the regulars and 1 reserve player that were "quality") and players with stamina issues. !<

!After the game, Sakuragi was hurt and had to go to rehab, Rukawa and Mitsui, two of the team's great playmakers were exhausted. There was no way Shohoku could win at least two more matches and be champions of the Nationals without their wild card and without/very tired two of their highest scorers.!<

Now, talking about HnI. In the current fight, Mashiba lost to Rosario, who ditched his weight control, had no specific preparation for the fight (he was in jail) and fought far from his ideal conditions.

And for me here is the difference between an outcome that was earned (like in Slam Dunk) and one that felt forced (HnI): In the Slam Dunk case, there was no possible outcome aside what happened. Everything made sense, was explained and the twists add to the emotion and immersion of the manga. The events that happened in the manga didn't betray what was previously established in other events.

In Mashiba x Rosario, I can think of at least 3 outcomes for the fight and all of them make sense: Mashiba loses, Mashiba wins, but retires due to neck injury (best outcome imo, salvages the year-long fight + hundreds of character development he got) and fight ends in a draw, meaning Rosario keeps the title.

We still haven't a double KO in a major fight, so a draw could also serve for Mori's decision of Mashiba not being a champion. Him winning + retiring or drawing would achieved the same end result. And that's the thing, considering all of Mashiba's character development, the chosen outcome felt horrible compared to other alternatives, even more considering the number of chapters the manga has since Ippo is retired.

Lastly, if Mori wanted to do a plot twist, he also failed. Why? Almost all of his fights end with a character that mostly lost the fight/ is on a worse position compared to his rival wins. To name a few examples, Ippo x Alfredo, Ippo x Guevarra, Sendo x Alfredo, Takamura x Hawk, Takamura x Eagle. Mashiba was mostly winning the entire time, and Rosario won.

Don't be surprised why a lot of people in this website and other manga reading websites hated the result. The result (loss) feels underwhelming considering how much time and development the characters had so far, and alternatives exist that feel more coherent regarding the story and HnI universe.

That famous Kamogawa say doesn't even apply to this fight, because Rosario didn't put hard work at all and still won...

    **You - new HMI boxer.**

If you would live in HNI universe and are forced to become a boxer, how would you box? Itagaki style? You own technique? Technique mix? Omni-directional dempsey + Smash + Low smash + Motionless jab?

Or maybe something more creative? How would the new world change you? Your personality?

    Guessing the final bouts

I'm thinking all the climactic fights on one major PPV event in Mexico with the matches being:

    Mashiba vs Rosario Rematch

    Takamura 6th world title belt

    Ippo vs Martinez

Main event being Ippo vs Martinez since it's held in Mexico.

    What do you guys think?

Now that a few days have passed since chapter release, what do you think about this theory ?

More than a year ago, I wrote this theory that didn't receive much success since the community hoped mashiba to win.

Now that this part is over, do you think that the rest of the theory will hold aswell ?

I would be glad to discuss about it if you want

If you guys want a studio to pick up this manga watch it again on Netflix.

This is just my theory but they recently have it again on Netflix us if there traction on it who knows we maybe we be getting a studio to pick the remaining pieces and possibly be the studio that will continue to its last chapter.

This is what brings Ippo out of retirement

Mashiba wanted to provide for Kumi by being a World Champion, but he will no longer be able to do this.

He has recognised Ippo but he will require Ippo to be a World Champion so he can provide for Kumi.

Ippo will take time to consider what he wants, what he’s been through and realise that he can’t live a happy life without knowing the meaning of being strong.

He will need to really think this through as he will have to convince Kumi to let him do this.

It's Gotta Be A Dream For Rosario Right?

That mf Rosario has to be dreaming he won, because aint no way he literally was saying take care of my belt and shit and then mashiba lost. Or Maybe the ref will actually do his job and like in the exact opposite of the Sawamura vs Mashiba match will disqualify Rosario for cheat or something.

    Takamura was actually a prophet

Takamura foresaw the population crisis, and was trying to help at the end of the Hawk fight. Takamura's Mara was about to single Handedly Save Japan. But noone listened.

    Undocumented Soundtrack?

    Hey all,

I've been looking for the name of a certain soundtrack used in the anime. It's played twice in the first episode too. At the 20:20 mark it plays and its a sad piano note type of soundtrack. Anyone know the name?

It was all for the Ippo and Kumi ship

I know a lot of people are upset about how the Mashiba vs Rosario match ended but hear me out. Near the end when Mashiba saw them together and sort of accepted ippo as his sister's.....potential person? Lol I always thought that regardless of that moment if he Mashiba wins the belt he wouldnt accept Ippo. Regardless of how helpful Ippo was as a sparring partner, Mashiba wouldve reached a height that Ippo was unable to. The hand off of his sister wouldve been more convoluted.
