i enjoy the mystic of the dark continent. how the place stay in our imaginary. if a dark continent happened. the characters will to need a crazy power up. i dont want that. hxh's balance of power is perfect.

In the anime, the Chairman explains that, ontop of physical and mental factors, they also determined the bracket due to overall impression. If this is true, I am translating that to mean that Leorio, while step by and smart, is not exactly anything remarkable, making less of an impression than 191.

We know that he is in tier 1 and as a mini bonus, he wasn't present in the heavens arena. I think it's Kurapika or rather, Chrollo is after Emperor time.

Emperor time is an ability that makes the user and his abilities stronger. And Chrollo has a book full of them just waiting to get powered up. For example, his bookmark under emperor time could give him another bookmark or even skill hunter itself would have no restrictions so he could use as many abilities as he wanted at once + all of the abilities would be powered up.

Now ET drains the user's life energy and based on what we know about Chrollo, I don't think he will care much about that. He will eventually die from that effect so Kurapika will indirectly kill him.

The prerequisite for acquiring such a powerful ability is Chrollo stealing Kakin's regalia. Earlier, Kurapika got Kacho's letter and learned that powerful aura is preventing princess from leaving the boat. With his vast knowledge about nen, he deduced that there has to be some construct/object/person who is doing that. That object is the zen budda from chapter 406, the prize that Chrollo is after. So it will be in Kurapika's best interest to have someone steal that object. He can't leave Oito and Wobble's side and try to obtain it solo so Chrollo would be a perfect man for the job.

So basically, in exchange for Oito's and Wobble's safety, Kurapika will give his ability to Chrollo voluntarily after Phantom Troupe steals the regalia. They will probably sign a contract with Longhi's nen ability which will be something like: If Chrolo is at this location at this time, with this item, I will let him steal my ability. Kurapika will get Moonlight act after he finds out who the Netero baby is - Tserri, which opens another can of worms with him having the kurta eyes and connections to the mafia that maaaaybe had something to do with the kurta massacre. I'm sure we will get the B side of that story in this arc, this time from Chrollo's perspective.

I see a lot of people against this on twitter but this won't be a buddy cop kinda team up. Both of them will gain and lose something from it. Chrollo will eventually lose his life but the spider will go on (in some way), and Kurapika will lose his broken ass ability but he will save the little prince. And in a sense, assuming that ET won't return to Kurapika, Togashi could write it so that Chrollo will take away all the years that Kurapika lost via ET with him into the grave, and thus in a sense giving Kurapika his life back which he lost because of the Phantom Troupe.

When Ging entered the hideout he sensed her massive aura and was like Woah, why isn't she in charge? I think that's because she's literally being controlled by Beyond/powered by his aura and it was his aura that Ging was sensing and just a little taste/preview of what a truly powerful nen beast he really is

I’ve been super intrigued by the Dark Continent recently, not just its inhabitants but the world itself. In the manga, it’s stated: “OUR WORLD IS LOCATED WITHIN THE ENORMOUS LAKE MOBIUS IN THE CENTER OF THE DARK CONTINENT” (sorry for the caps). This got me thinking, does this mean everything outside the lake is just land? Like, are we talking about a big stretch of land with this big lake (the known world) in the middle?

Or could it be something more? Could the Dark Continent be like an actual world (let's say Lake Mobius is like Lake Superior) and theirs like countries and other stuff in the DC, or I also saw a post in this reddit that it was related to like Norse mythology (Yggdrasil)?

Togashi was very coherent with the character by putting Illumi inside the Ryodan, he is based on "Horror creatures/monsters" like them.

The psychopathic/demoniac personality of Illumi is based on the cenobites of Hellraiser. He uses needles on his head because he feels pain differently from normal people like the cenobites.

In the cosmology of Stephen King's novels, Pennywise/IT is the destroyer of worlds, a cosmic entity from unknown origins enemy of “God” (called The Other) and the Tortoise, the creator. From this also the name Hisoka(ヒソカ) that means “secret/mystery”.

Sadako and Kayako are the 2 Onryo represented in the Ring and the Grudge.

The twisted and selfish love of Illumi for Killua represent the emotions of these kinds of spirits (Onryo), and his powerful evil energy is created from these twisted feelings even after death (Post-Mortem Nen).

Since the incomplete ending for HXH was revealed, people still keep saying Gon story ended. However, in the ending that would be canon if hxh is unfinished, Gon is a famous hunter with a family.

Wouldn’t that mean Gon story hasn’t ended?

There’s been some speculation that the Negotiation game being played by Morena and Borksen could be a nen ability, possibly one of Morena’s. I think that if it’s a nen ability, it’s someone else’s.

In chapter 393, when Morena is helping the Heil-Ly members strategize how to deal with Hinrigh’s pigeons, she says:

If one shot isn’t enough, create a situation where you can fire more than once. You won’t have to be an emitter so long as you can counteract their ability. Adding an ability that lets you find out how many shots it requires could make it fun, like a game.

In response to this, Gelato - a level 19 member listed as a “pro gamer” responds:

Okay. If I’m a conjurer, I’ll take that last idea.

That last idea being a gamified nen ability. Gelato is also present in ch. 407, which makes me think that Negotiation is her nen ability, or at least the result of it. As a professional gamer with experience in a lot of different game types, I think she might have created an ability that allows her to create games ad-hoc, in order to suit whatever situation she’s in.

The first bylaw says that Hunter must always be on the hunt for something. Is there any retirement clause ?

For context this is I think the second phase of Hunter exam and they have to climb down this tower...This guy was a rock climber... probably trained his whole life climbing mountains he was literally made for this level...but than a giant flying baby eats him and now he's dead...AHHHH.. I can't get this scene out of my mind (I Know petty) well I am at the start of Chimera ant.. I'll come back when I end the series

This ranking will be based on how well they are suited for the succession war and how good the abilities are regardless of how they were used. For example Camilla has a great nen beast for the SW, she doesn’t use it but it will still be very high up. I will apologize in advance for my spelling of the names.

1. 9th prince haukenburg- puts a mark on people hands and if they are loyal they get an insane boost in nen so much infact it’s said his group of 4 already surpasses Benjamin’s entire private army. This is also the coolest looking beast

2. 13th prince wobel- puts his room in an alternate dimension so anyone attempting to enter gets transported to a different room. You are literally invincible unless a body guard betrays and strangles you. A perfect ability for this contest

3. 4th prince tserriednich- he can tell when you lie to him and if you lie 3 times something bad will happen. This is ability is great for building a staff you can trust. Honestly I just really like Tserriednich so it’s probably higher than it should be

4. 2nd prince Camilla- if you fulfill her conditions you become her slave. This would be 3 but we don’t know what the conditions are so it will sit at 4

5. 7th prince luzarus- it senses what you desire most and lures you into a trap. It’s just a really good ability especially since (head cannon) he’s fooled everyone into thinking he isn’t a threat so they won’t expect it

6. 8th prince sale sale- a mouth above his head releases smoke and the more you inhale the better opinion you have of him. Once you’ve inhaled enough a mini version appears above your head and you transfer it to other people. This is an amazing ability for this contest if used right. It’s a shame sale sale was a complete dumb ass. Only downside is it can’t help you instantly so you need good body guards.

7. 6th prince Tyson- the more you have read in the book of Tyson the happier you get in exchange for their life force. Lowkey a shitty ability but atleast it’s working towards something

8. 5th prince tubeppa- syntheses any drug you desire in its body. We’ve gotten to the point where the abilities are pretty good but suck for the succession war

9. 10th prince fugetsu- let’s her teleport anywhere on the black whale 1 as long as her sister opens the door. This ability sucks because 1 it has a really shitty range only being able to go to tier 1 and 2 and you can’t even use it by yourself.

10. 12th prince momozue- has a rat go up to you and ask if you are free constantly and when you do it takes over your body and kills everyone around you. This ability kinda sucks for the war since 1 you can’t control who gets killed 2. It only works on nen users 3. It massively drains you and you have to sleep a lot. That actually got her killed.

11. 3rd prince zang lei- a circle with flames that creates useless coins. Terrible ability for not just the succession war but for everything. Still isn’t last because it can still block bullets and shit. And maybe the coins do something we don’t know yet.

12. 11th prince kaocho- doesn’t manifest till after you die and it’s only purpose is to help your sister. Literally doesn’t help you at all but atleast we know what it does

13. First prince benjamin - unknown

14. Wobel- unknown

So, we know Nobunaga compared Heil-ly to the Phantom troupe. We know that Phantom troupe experienced some messup stuff during their formative years, and Phantom troupe basically is a product of the enviroment they grew up in. So, if Heil-ly are simmilar to the spiders, maybe they have experienced something even worse than them.

We will probably learn about Morena's real purpose soon, I hope. But, I wonder, what happened to them, that they all want to destroy the world. We know Morena recently purged older Heil-ly members and only those 22 members remained. All of them are completely indiferent to brutally killing for the sake of leveling up and all of them want to see the world burn. So, I thought, maybe they all are actually formerly kidnapped children, who were raised by the mafia.

Maybe, it's all connected to that fake humanitary organization called Mama's Help or Future Of Children ( depending on the translation), which Risnorth ( Sarasa's killer) was working for. We know, that Risnorth likely organized children trafficking from the Meteor City. Maybe that very organization was tasked with raising those kidnapped children as well. And if people like Risnorth worked for that organization, the life of those children must have been hell.

They all seem to be in a simillar age like Phantom troupe members aside from Gateaume who's much older than other members of the Heil-ly gang. And they all kinda idolize the troupe as well. So there's this strange kinship Heil-ly has with the troupe... could it be, because they also come from Meteor City? If so, were they basically considered human trash by other members of the mafia? Remember, Char-a underboss really despises spiders, because they are from the city of the trash. So, being abused as children and being despised by others, because of their country of origin, would kinda explaine that nihilistic and angry mindset all Heil-ly members seem to share.

However, Yokotani is probably from HunterxHunter version of Japan...So maybe Risnorth was trafficking kids from all around the world.

Or maybe they are all have-nots, who are also treated like a trash in Kakin. Aside from Camilla's servants, who are treated better.

Whatever was the cause, I think that to get that mindset, they have to been through something super terrible.

I will cover each princes chance of winning and their prospects . I will also throw in some ending predictions at the end.

I dont wanna hype things too much but togashi this time will probably not go on hiatus or will return sooner . I say this because he is way ahead of schedule at the pace he is going he has totally surpassed his previous 10 chapter record . Also the art , the writing he seems so patient . He is not in a hurry and every chapter has a ton of intricate details .

Well let us look at the plot points that have been set up :

The princes :

First we will discuss the importance of each prince narratively and then we can predict who will win by seeing how likely each of thier win conditions are

Benjamin : Benjamin's win condition is marshall law . The most likely condition that will activate it is the planned assassination of luzurus . Even if the attempt fails , the mere attempt will likely trigger it .

Camilla : Her win condition is her nen ability and the have nots . This will only work if the princes don't know about her ability . The have nots on the other hand are a really good win condition .

Zhang lei : His win condition is just his nen beasts' compounding effect . If the coins value can reach the required amount that is . The required amount is stated to be is stated to be 10^64 which wil require 640 days to actually be viable .

Calculation : Since the value of the coin 10x's every 10 days . The sequence would be : 10 , 100 , 1000.... which is a geometric sequence The formula for the nth term of a geometric series is : a*r^(n-1)=tn where , a ( first term ) = 10 r ( common ratio by which the terms increase) = 10 tn ( nth term ) = 10 ^ 64 n ( the position of the term in the sequence ) = ?

10*10^(n-1) = 10^64 10^(n-1) = 10^63 n-1 = 63 n = 64

Since this growth of its value occurs every 10 days . The no of days required is (10*64= 640 days)

Tsseriednich : His win condition is just him mastering his ability . It is stated that the worst case scenario will take 2 weeks . He isn't leaving his room until he has broken the one second barrier.

Tubeppa : Doesn't have any win condition except conjuring a dangerous chemical through her nen beast. But that requires a "research partner" . Plus she has predator on her tail .

Tyson : Her win condition is the spirit bomb attack that her nen beast is absorbing nen for . Although it is probably a one time thing .

Luzurus : Bro is a chill guy . He doesn't care much about the contest and he has the threat of assassination on his back . Although his nen beast can set traps plus he has the mafia .

Sale Sale : He is dead . Probably not winning the war after death

Halkenburg : He plans to finish the contest in 10 hours or switch bodies during said 10 hours . He has a lot of followers which powers up his ability a lot . If he can target the correct people he can probably end th contest really quickly .

Kacho : dead

Fugestu : The curse spirits are really taking a toll on her . She doesn't have much of a chance winning either .

Momoze : dead

Marayam : He has the nen beast which basically makes him invincible . But he probably has to eat and must get out someday . Even if he is one of the 2 last people alive . He must get out .

Woble : It's just kurapika .

Death of the princes : The most likely person to die is Tubeppa . Plus predator can just destroy her nen beast. She doesn't have any win condition . Luzurus also doesn't have any win condition plus the assassination attempt means he will likely die . Fugetsu might die as well . She has no narrative purpose . Plus she might fail the assassination and die or the curse could kill her before then . Tyson also isn't that serious about the contest and the spirit bomb likely needs to be charged multiple times . She could force Nasubi to read her book but it is very unlikely that it will happen . Zhang lei also doesn't have much prospects . Why would togashi introduce a character's ability to just not show it . Well there could be more avenues . Like post mortem nen , his ability could survive or his coins that he had given could awaken . That way his abilities potential could be utilized . Marayam unless he is the beyond child will probably die from starvation or going outside . Camilla also doesn't have much prospects . She will likely die from one of the beyond curses . As a way to show their power . Benjamin and halkenburg will likely trade blows and this is where it gets hard to predict .

It could stem anywhere from here some of the princes could survive . Kurapika or Chrollo might accidentally save them or something . Even supposing that the tree of kakin plot must be completed . Even if it is incomplete someone will get its power ans thus will be the "winner" . Now I will take a page out of togashi's book and give 3 different endings :

My take on endings :

A: (classic shonen ending ) Halkenburg takes over benjamins body and starts to progress his plans forward . Ultimately this results in halkenburg vs tsseriednich . Halkenburg ends uo dying . Amidst all the chaos kurapika somewhat breaks the succession war ritual and freeing some of the princes including woble . Tsseriednich vs kurapika happens . Kurapika gets the scarlet eyes and woble becomes the new king of kakin and becomes "potential man" she will get the aura from the succesion contest and become really powerfull ya know like every op shonen child . The troupe and morena are defeated one by one by hisoka and kurapika . Chrollo and morena join forces yo defeat everyone but kurapika succeeds in defeating them .

B: (50/50 satisfaction rate) Halkenburg takes over benjamins body and starts to progress his plans forward . Ultimately this results in halkenburg vs tsseriednich . Halkenburg and all other princes end up dying like stated above . Kurapika tries to fight tsseriednich and protect woble and queen oito . But tsseriednich ends up killing the queen . Fueled by rage kurapika kills tsseriednich and ends up taking woble and caring for her . Beyond netero takes the power of the succesion ritual for himself and the D.C voyage . Troupe fight kurapika . Kurapika wins . Morena sinks the ship killing nasubi and destroying the kakin empire and joins netero in the DC expedition as a completely changed person having completed her goals

C :(bad/dark ending) Tsseriednich ends up killing everyone . Morena causes chaos . The black whale sinks . The strong and surviving characters including tsseriednich join beyond netero . Kurapika never completes his goal and is unable to do his job .

D : (wildcard ending) Morena kills most of the princes and her subordinates become player 0's . Kurapika gets the eyes back from tsseriednich back .Nasubi takes all the power for himself inhabiting the soul of the last prince alive . Woble and queen oito escape . Kurapika , the troupe and Morena all clash killing each other .

Anyone know if Morena's negotiation game is a Togashi invention? Or is it a imitation of an existing card game?

As a side note, I HATED this chapter on day one. Last thing I wanted was a card game explanation. However, I've now had time to soak it in and I love it! Very intrigued to see it play out in 408 (?).
