Tons of cops on Bridge St

Does anyone know what’s happening by Ron’s Quickstop on the west side? There are like 20 cops and huge trucks.

Grand River Prep Academy / HS recommendation?

Hi All Wondering if anyone has any personal experiences to share with Grand River Prep? We need to decide on a high school for our child entering 9th grade next year. He’s been accepted to GR Prep, but truly know nothing about it other than we’ve been in NHA schools over the past 4 years.

Context : K-8th in a mix of private & charter on southeast side of town. South Christian not in the cards for us. College or trade school bound; A-average student. Good kid. Not interested in athletics.

East Kentwood home district. Size of EK feels overwhelming but haven’t ruled it out either.

Thanks!

I bought this drawing at one of the art fairs in GR but I can’t remember the name of the artist so I can buy another. The signature at the bottom says “Emily Li….something”, but I can’t decipher the rest. Anyone know?

Seamstress/Seamster recommendations

I have a couple of pairs of pants that are made with delicate fabrics that have gotten holes in them (thanks, cats!). Can anyone recommend someone that does quality work that could fix the holes? I don’t trust myself enough to not make the stitch look like shit.

TY!

Moving for Career - July 2025 - Rental Houses

Hi everyone! My wife, puppy, and I are excited to be moving to Grand Rapids, MI, in July 2025. We’re planning to rent a house, and we have a few specific preferences:

• We’d love a two-stall garage.

• Ideally, we’d like to be close to Corewell Health - Butterworth.

I have a few questions for those familiar with the area:

  1. When does the rental market typically start advertising homes for July/August move-in dates? Should we start looking early, or is it better to wait?

  2. Are there any specific property management companies or landlords you’d recommend (or suggest avoiding)?

  3. Any tips for finding rentals in Grand Rapids that meet these criteria?

Thanks in advance for any advice or insights! We’re really looking forward to becoming part of the community. 😊

Jeff Arcuri Tickets - 12/21 at 9:30 PM

I bought 2 tickets to see Jeff Arcuri for the 9:30 PM show on 12/21 at 20 Monroe Live (not calling it GLC Live sorry not sorry). Due to holiday travel plans, it's not convenient for us to go. Seats are in the upper mezzanine level. This show is sold out, and the cheapest tickets I can find on Stubhub are $156 per person (though admittedly those are better seats).

After fees, I paid $105 total. I'm not looking to gouge anyone here, just hoping to recoup my costs. I'll be able to transfer tickets through LiveNation once they're ready (which it says is after 9:30 pm on 12/7)

Please DM me if you're interested (and I'm also happy to set up a mutually-agreed upon method to verify we won't be ripping each other off!)

New housing proposed near GVSU downtown

https://www.crainsgrandrapids.com/news/real-estate/mixed-use-project-calls-for-106-apartments-to-replace-west-side-adobe-in-out-location/

106 apartments and ground floor retail. This would really help build out that corridor of Fulton.

College student looking for winter break work

Hey all,

I’m a student from Grand Rapids whose part-time job no longer has any availability over the time I’ll be home for winter break. I’m looking for any sort of work to do during the period of Dec 15-Jan 4, and was wondering if y’all had any ideas for some stuff to do to make a little bit of money. I’m willing to do pretty much anything if it’s paid.

Help with sexual harassment then firing at work

Help with sexual harassment then firing at work

Hi everyone,

First post - long time lurker.

I was sexually harassed at a small business in Grandville. (I don't know if it matters. There are under 15 employees)

The owners son said that he would be my sugar daddy and take care of me. I told co-workers, there are text messages too.

The owner found out and fired his son, but then rehired him. I think he was gone a week max. I'm not sure if he was fired or they just made him stay home.

I called in to work today and was fired.

Everyone has been saying to get a lawyer. What type of lawyer should I contact? Are there other organizations I can contact?

This company has been sued multiple times.

Thanks for any help.

Shopping for bridal veils

Are there any bridal shops in West Michigan that have a wide variety of veils, where I can go in just to try on veils and not dresses?

I have my dress but having trouble picking out the right veil. Thank you!

Restraints with awesome atmospheres?

So I was thinking of taking a girl on a first date to the Rainforest Cafe, but unfortunately we don’t have one on this side of the state. As childish and cheesy as it sounds, does anyone know of restaurants in GR or near GR that have similar atmospheres? I just thought it would be a unique first date!

Best Tiramisu in GR? Tour-amisu!

My birthday is coming up and surprise, I love tiramisu! So decided I'm doing a tour-amisu in GR to try and hit them all. Recommendations? I've had Martha's, Testa Rossa's, Licari's, and multiple of the Quarantinos!

Looking for small office/sublease

I'm a therapist with a private practice and I'm looking to rent or sublet a small private office on Thursdays/Fridays beginning in January. Ideally I'd like to stay near Eastown if possible, but flexible. Any leads would be really appreciated!

Christmas Light Car

I am just curious, has anyone else seen this car around town?
Do we know if it lights up at night?
Is it even legal to have a car like that?

Best local coffee shop in GR?

My favorite coffee shop outdoor coffee shop has officially closed by east town. Any great local coffee shops recommendations? Not the main chained branded coffee shops. Appreciate it.

I made r/Granville

Sorry for now working on the subreddit, I haven’t been on Reddit for a while. I have recently came back and I am now working on unfinished subreddits I made, including r/Granville (Sorry if you can’t click on that, I’m on mobile, I don’t know how to make it clickable, I don’t know if it is clickable or not.) I will start to put effort in r/Grandville and make it a well-running community! (Or use r/GrandvilleMI, it looks like it’s the better subreddit right now.) Edit: Turns out you can click them
