Struck out so far in Kalamazoo. If anyone knows of a shop in SW Michigan that has any stock I’d much appreciate it!
Going to see a buddy in Indiana tomorrow who is into D&D.
Thanks!
I have thousands of dollars of barrel aged stouts sitting on shelves in the basement. I've outgrown my enjoyment of this style and would like someone to make use of it.
Can I donate this to a beer fest or restaurant or something? I don't want anything for it, just someone to come get it and enjoy it.
Edit: for legal purposes I am in central Michigan which is why I chose this sub. Didn't immediately occur to me that people in other states also drink Michigan beer :)
We just booked a last minute trip to Manistee this weekend (seriously last minute lol). Where do I need to go for good beers? Will have a 6yr old and 2yr with me as well as my husband who only drinks bourbon but will let me indulge in breweries while traveling.
Good breweries, beers to try, restaurants with good tap lists. Any recs ya got let me know!
Can anyone suggest or recommend any breweries that aren’t in a city or maybe have a bunch of property? I’m thinking maybe a place that has a farm or something attached to it. This is actually fairly common in New England, but can’t think of any in Michigan off hand.
One of my all time favs from Lost Art!
Hello my sisters and brothers of the malted barley! My bestie and I are having a girls' weekend that begins at Seedz on a Friday.
Where should we go on Saturday? We are heading towards Allegan.
Thanks, friends! :)
Hi folks,
I'm going to be driving from north of Toronto to Chicago next month for FOBAB. It looks like about a nine hour drive, so I'm planning to stop in Michigan overnight both ways. I have a hotel booked in Ann Arbor on the way, somewhere near HOMES. Is there anywhere else in Ann Arbor that I absolutely need to stop at?
I haven't got a plan for the trip home, so I'm hoping someone here can recommend somewhere that's worth stopping overnight with a decent brewery/pub or two. I was in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo earlier this year, so I wasn't planning on stopping there again. I don't mind going an hour or so out of the way, but I don't want to go all the way up to Traverse City etc.
Any and all recommendations gladly received! Thanks!
If anyone is planning to go this weekend I suggest just going for drinks. They are out of most of their food and it sounds like they don’t plan on really replenishing it! No big deal just didn’t want anyone to have expectations of beer cheese soup (me) and not be able to get it.
Great farewell turnout though! Glad to see it.
Legit, this sucks so hard. Feels like losing a loved one.
I’m still in shock from the announcement, but Ascension Brewing in Novi is closing down. Their last day will be this upcoming Sunday. Well known for having some of the best IPA’s, sours, and dessert stouts in the state, Ascension was a true player among the state’s best. They are my all time favorite brewery. I will greatly miss the wonderful staff I’ve met throughout the years as well as Gorilla Juice Day, my favorite beer event of the year. This seems very concerning for the industry. If they can fail, it feels like anyone could fail. Support your local favorites!
Interesting peanut butter blonde ale from Sawyer's in Montague.
I love double two hearted, Did I miss it this year or did Bells not do it?
It's been a few years since we built the Michigan Brewery Map App. We have updated it today which also maps out 16 upcoming beer festivals including tomorrow's UP Beer Festival. Also includes Michigan's 401 Open Breweries (Plus another 16 Satellites), 27 Hard Cideries, and 8 Meaderies. Brewery hours are updated as of this morning.
The app is free for all users. https://linktr.ee/mibeermap . There's even just a regular google map you can look at over at https://www.betterondraft.com/mibeermap too.
We pride ourselves in being a complete app so if we're missing one that you know of, don't hesitate to respond here or through the app or website!
Like the title says, looking for breweries to stop by now that I'm back in the area. If there are special releases as well, curious about those. I'm particular to IPAs and stouts but generally open.
HOMES and Mothfire are two of my favorites locally. Also made my way out to Perrin for the No Rules release this year.
I know this might be a long shot but I figured I would ask.
I grew up in Mount Pleasant and cut my craft beer teeth on the Mount Pleasant Brewing Co before they became Mountain Town Brewing Co.
I purchased my first growler when they were Mount Pleasant Brewing with the old logo on it.
Some years ago I let my brother borrow it when he went to a party. He lost my growler and it was thrown away.
I was hoping that someone on this sub would have an extra empty growler from Mount Pleasant Brewing Co they'd be willing to part with.
I've always regretted lending it out and now I have no way to replace it.
Thanks!
Has anyone been able to try this new brewery? Usually I like to try new breweries within the first weekend, but with the labor day festival crowds not sure if it's worth it. Thanks!
Other than Sanctuary Spirits in Grand Ledge, I don't have much of an opportunity to get a hold of this style and it's a shame. I absolutely love it!
Hi everyone, I was excited to head up to Marquette for this year's beerfest, but unfortunately I'm not able to go.
I have two tickets, if you're interested dm me
Hi All! A few years ago I got what I thought was an IPA from Kroger - it was named after something related to the apocalypse, and the label had two skeletons burning in hell, with flames and a hellish background. It was a 12% if I remember right!
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Greatly Appreciated!
The event is only 9 days away and today they just announced on Facebook that they will have a bag policy. Regular bags must be smaller than 4.5x6.5 inches and clear bags must be smaller than 13x17 inches. Their website has yet to reflect this change.
No word yet on whether or not this means that towels and chairs are now prohibited as well.
