I have an internship in Lowell this summer and I'm wondering if anyone wants a summer sublease. Because it's in Lowell the farther east the better, but as long as it's not that bad I'm open to it. Sorry if this is against the sub's rules, I'm not sure what type of stuff gets posted here. If it is, is there a better place for me to be looking for housing for the summer?
If you want some more info you can DM me or email me (kleehammera@gmail.com) I should see it either way. I'm a 20M Engineering Management major and I'm pretty easy to get along with. That, and I can pay rent upfront.
Got the email that President Le Roy is heading out next yr. It's only been 10 yrs since he took office. is there speculation the Whitworth job will be vacant that he could slip in to that next year? You knew leaving the West you'd be leaving family behind. This was a lifetime app't and you are walking away. I'm puzzled why he's leaving.
Not cuz of inactivity but it ain't a college no more
r/CalvinUniversity where u at
So, I am a graduate of Calvin (2004) and I'm in Korea now and I have lost a lot of CD's when I moved. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who had a copy of the 2001 Ben Harper concert CD. It was a wonderful concert and I hope that I could find someone else who was there who could share the CD with me. I have to say that the music scene at Calvin was one of the most underappreciated aspects of the experience of college life
Friends, family, fellow countrymen I bring to market today the finest automotive engineering that the country of the rising sun could muster. The offspring of Soichiro Honda himself. It’s said that his spirit lives on in every Civic sold. In fact in some circles it’s said that the reason Honda’s last so long is because the soul of Soichiro Honda mends your engine overnight, ensuring that it’s 完璧な (Perfect). Though I have no factual evidence to support that theory I believe it to be true myself.
My prized Civic is a child of the early 2000’s and like most children born in that era, it’s quirky as hell. The dome light doesn’t come on when you open the driver’s side door and the trip meter button stopped working a while ago, but friends those things are petty. In this moment I think of the great philosopher Gandhi when he said, “Don’t be petty” (paraphrase). Where this triumphant little guy excels is in his unbridled spirit of ecstasy. My Civic scoffs at most modern cars today, which forces you to hold its hand as you drive down the road. Screaming at you if you don’t wear your seat belt. Friends my Civic doesn’t give a hot damn what you do when you drive it. Don’t want to wear your seat belt, it won’t bother you. Want to change lanes on the freeway when someone's next to you? It’ll gladly let you ram right into them, because this golden nugget of Japanese engineering cares more about free will than forcing its automotive beliefs on you.
At this point you might be saying, “This all sounds good and well, but what are the numbers”. To which I would reply, you sir (or madam) sound like a shrewd automotive savant asking the appropriate questions required for any automotive transaction. Let me tell you, while most American made cars gasp for air, and undoubtedly tap out, around the 200,000 mile mark, not my Civic. No, this little guy busted through that number like the Kool Aid man through a brick wall. Na, he’s riding prettier than your Tinder date at 217,000 miles and unlike your Tinder date he’s still going strong. He’s got plenty of years left in him to give you the wildest ride you’ll ever experience. Tires still have plenty of tread for those slick Winter days. Timing belt was changed, about 37,000 miles ago keeping everything in sync since then. Your boy knows how to treat his whips right. I just changed the oil about 500 miles ago and regularly change it with conventional oil every 3,000 miles.
So now what? I think we can agree that this feisty fella has the heritage, and the heart, to get the job done, but is it a luxurious pleasurable ride? You got me there, my Civic doesn’t have anything on a Rolls Royce Phantom, but it is neck and neck with a Bentley Continental. With it’s hard foam seats and unintelligent suspension it focuses more on allowing its driver to feel the road way. Let’s also not forget as a four door sedan this guy comes with a full backseat allowing you to have all sorts of exciting adventures back there. (Insert: 80’s Film by Jon Bellion).
If you’re still with me, and you think you can tame the unleashed spirit of Japan. Shoot me a message and we’ll get the wheels rolling your way.
As the title states. Calvin College will become a university by 2020.
I really like both schools! Why is Calvin better/worse than msu. I am looking to do mechanical engineering by the way!
Please bring them back.
resnet is trash lol
Does anyone have any recommendations of a nice apartment complex near Calvin College. I have an internship in the area for the summer and fall and need a place to stay for me and my friend. Size doesn't really matter but I would prefer somewhere quiet.
I was looking at ridgewood or burton's landing, but I am still looking.
I'm thinking of applying to Calvin College because they offered me pretty much a full ride scholarship, and it would be really hard to afford any other school. However, I've heard that Calvin College is very Christian, and this bothers me. I've recently stopped believing in a very strict and oppressive religion, and am pretending to believe until I leave the house. I intend on being financially independent when I leave for college, as my parents will pretty much disown me. That's why I'm considering Calvin. Calvin has reached out to me and offered to grant me full financial needs as an independent.
Leaving my oppressive religion, however, has taught me a lot about organized religion in general. I now consider myself an Agnostic, and I am against organized religion. Would I be miserable at Calvin College, or would I be okay? Is everyone there Christian? Do they force or pressure students to be Christian? Thank you in advance for your advice.
need a smoking buddy next semester edit: i'm not campus safety lol
A recent e-mail sent to Calvin students:
Saturday, January 7, 2011
Dear Students,
On Saturday, January 7, The Calvin College Board of Trustees voted to accept the recommendation of the presidential search committee and appoint Dr. Michael Le Roy to the position of President at Calvin College. Le Roy was the presidential search committee’s unanimous recommendation to the Board.
Le Roy will need ratification of the Board’s decision at the Christian Reformed Church’s SYNOD meeting in June 2012 in order to become Calvin’s next president.
"The Board of Trustees is both blessed and honored to appoint Dr. Michael Le Roy to the position of President at Calvin," said Scott Spoelhof, chair of Calvin's Board of Trustees. "He is a collaborative, visionary leader with proven academic, administrative, and scholarship skills who is committed to furthering the mission of Calvin. His commitment to reformed theology will serve our institution well as we not only interact with our existing constituencies, but also seek to engage the broader evangelical community."
Welcome Knights! Wether prospective students, current students, professors, staff, or alums, this is a place to come and share current-events, news, and stories about Calvin.
How about a question to start the conversation: What does everyone think about President Byker retiring?
