I noticed some baskets come up at Grand Rapids Christian Middle School and they look pretty legit. I checked U-disc and saw that its not registered but i bet its a good nine hole course. Any thoughts?
I want to go disc diving at the pond at old farm sometime. Whats ya'lls opinion on this / is it safe?
My dad always tells me amazing stories of how 20 years ago Riverside was one of the best courses in the city, how he would play every week and spend most of his teenage years there (it's been 20 years). Today we went to play a round and found its just been neglected to the point of being unplayable. The first 5 or so holes are possible, but the baskets were moved back like 200 feet from their original spots even though par was kept the same, making them unfair. However, the back 9 is simply unplayable do to impossible wayfinding even through U-disc. This is a call to action, we need to bring Riverside back to its former glory!
Does anybody else do the FWL? After driving out to Fallasburg to play a casual round a few weeks ago, we had no idea that FWL was played on Sunday mornings and that it is an open league. My son and I paid the $5 each and had a blast playing with 2 guys who showed up single and needed a card to play on. We went back last Sunday and played our 2nd league round and plan to finish out the season playing every Sunday that we possibly can. We're having SO much fun and can't wait for the league party and high/low doubles tournament at the end.
Is here a max score per basket? Like if you don't get it in X throws you should pick up and move on.
So a friend of mine and company are trying to throw a round on Sunday if the permits it, but they don't have plastic and I'll be out of town. Does anyone know of a shop that rents discs for the day?
I went to Paw Paw park in Holland yesterday. First hole is pretty spongy. Second hole is mostly under water. The rest of the course looked to be higher elevation and dryer. This looks like a fun course to play, but a lot of water to lose discs in.
Any one teaching disc golf in the greater Grand Rapids area? I just started playing and would like to learn the fundamentals.
Gonna be throwing around 2 today. Looking for some insight on how th course are holding up in this melt. Least icy, least muddy, ect. I know its pretty unavoidable but whats gonna be the best option today?
Pretty cool that Grand Rapids, MI ranks pretty high on this list of the Top 50 Disc Golf Cities in the USA - https://udisc.com/blog/post/top-disc-golf-cities-usa-2021
It's so great to live in this city and have access to so many great courses that are just a short drive from almost any point in or around the city.
I and my dad signed up for our first tournament that is the freeze fest on the rescheduled date on March 12th by the time it's going to be a fair weather fest but it's a doubles tournament and I hope we do good even though there is no chance of us winning.
Went 2 rounds on Sunday with both of my sons. We played Garfield Park first. The winds were absolutely brutal! On hole 15, I had a 30 foot putt for bogey that floated up above the basket and a gust of wind threw it back towards me where it landed then proceeded to roll about 100 feet behind me! I think it took me 3 or 4 more putts from there to finish the hole. It was ridiculous. Meanwhile, my 14-year-old (Ethan) legit birdies the hole and my 11-year-old (Eli) pars it somehow. Eli was pretty excited that he shot the best score. His first time ever beating his older brother and his dad in a full 18-hole round.
On our way to JayCee, we stopped at Big Shawn's on Kalamazoo to try their cheesesteak sandwiches. A bit overpriced in my opinion, but tasted good. I wouldn't suggest eating those before a round of disc golf though... It kind of tore us up. All 3 of us were having stomach/gas issues. Lol

JayCee was very icy and wet. We were short on time so we decided to play best shot among all 3 of us. Not our best effort considering the conditions. We shot -1 as a team. All in all, another fun day of disc golf in Grand Rapids, MI!
