I got assigned a Calder efficiency dorm for winter semester; anyone have experience living in them?
I have heard that GVSU is the boring school and the parties are kinda boring as well. So I’m wondering what those of you that go to GVSU do in your free time when you’re not in class or studying. What does the typical day look like?
Does anyone know if we are allowed to have these in the dorms?
GVSU is so irrelevant as D2 it's kinda crazy when are we gonna go D1.
I graduated in 2017 and even then, the school was trying to work with greek life to get people to stay the whole game. This was bc 80% of games would be uninteresting by halftime.
Its time GV
I heard GV accepts multiple Sap Appeals and have a limit up to 3 appeals during your time at GV. Does anyone know if that’s true?
I was out visiting family, and there was a car chasing an escape around the parking lot. I went up to the biggby and saw a few police cars pulled the car over in the dollar store parking lot, just curious if anyone knows what was going on. Didn’t think anything of it until I saw the police.
I’m taking CJ 335 with Patrick Gerkin and there’s been no real tests or assignments but the final exam is 55 questions and timed. Has anyone had him before? What can I expect from the exam/ what should I focus on?
I haven’t been able to wash clothes because there’s an entire salon my roommate runs in the laundry room and campus view won’t do anything. I’ve graduated but my roommates are call very young and my bf keeps telling me it’s fine but I really wish I could wash clothes and I’m tired of having everyone’s dirty clothes in the hallway. She does hair from sun to sun down so there’s no way I could wash my clothes because there’s two literal people in the way actively doing their hair.
I'm currently comparing the prices of MSU to GVSU and I need to know what my financial aid package for the spring is, but I can't find it.
thought i’d ask if there were any good overnight/carpool parking spots to leave my car for a week (near the LL) as I don’t really see a point in paying for a temporary pass for 5 days! thank you gv reddit community 😨
In early October I signed for a lease for the 48West 1x1A apartment, for $1245/mo + all the random fees. I did this because I wanted out of the CampusView apartment I have now, but I changed my mind, and want to renew with CampusView, I no issue doing that, but what do I do to "get rid" of the lease I now signed with 48West?
Looking online, the same unit now goes for $1429/mo, would it be possible to do a lease takeover? I have no clue how any of that works.
Has anyone had to do anything like this before, where can I start?
Edit: Thanks for the feedback everyone, I do appreciate it. I should have mentioned this, the lease is for next year, August 25 to August 26. I signed this because I felt extremely pressured to sign something asap, the units go quickly, the prices raise even quicker, and it’s something I don’t want to have to worry about(which didn’t end well)
Found on facebook. I just park at burger king no one cares.
I'm in my final year here at GVSU and I'm looking for some easy electives to fill my final schedule. I have physics next semester as well as my capstone, so that's why I'd prefer something that doesn't increase my work load a ton!
Recently I decided to visit GVSU and I really enjoyed exploring the campus. Exploring the town of Allendale, I’ve heard multiple people saying they are transferring. While transferring colleges is a common thing, I feel like I see people from social media do it a lot at GVSU. Also, my college counselor at my school said that she has see a lot of people go to school there and almost all of them have transferred. Is there anything I should know before considering on going there next year?
i lost something in the field house arena, where might someone it in?
Hi, I’m an international student and I’ve been thinking of applying to GVSU I just a have a question about the campus life , I’m racially diverse and I have no proper experience with America itself I’ve heard that the area can be quite conservative, should I be worried about hate crimes and such and is the school a safe space for black people/ethnic people etc?
Just curious if anyone here has filed an Academic Grievance or heard of the results of anyone who has filed one?
I was in an Econ 312 class with a very disliked professor over the years who I won't name, and have 9 people from the class commited to signing my 4 paged letter to the Department of Econ over things like;
Lack of tutor for 9 weeks of the class, lack of department resources, lack of professor resposes to emails, lack of professor professionalism to students requesting help, poor teaching standards, lack of class description transparency, lack of appropriate class calculus prerequisite, VERY poor exam class average grade, etc.
Genuinely a nightmare class, unlike anything I have experienced in my 3.5 years of college. Many students openly voiced these same concerns in class while the professor wasn't present.
Is it even worth it to spend the time and energy dealing with this on behalf of others? I have already withdrawn (which I have never done and am graduating in April), and I am not looking for a grade from it. I would like to see the department and professor urgently address these outliers of school expectations and transparency for future students and their success.
Does anyone know if GVSU allows pets? And if they do, does anyone know the restrictions?
When should you start applying for housing?
Right now I’m a senior looking to major in product/industrial design. I’ve looked at other schools in the state but GVSU has caught my attention. What are the biggest pros and cons of the school?
I am trying to figure out what housing style for my housing application for the fall of 2025. I got into the honors college and would like to live in their living learning dorms, but should I do the Niemeyer apartments or Holton-hooker?
What is campus life like? What is the party scene like? Call me naive, but I want the stereotypical university experience. I want the parties, the friends, the dating, I want everything. I don’t want to be the person that goes to classes, studies somewhere on campus and then goes back to the dorms. I want everything.
Hi! I am living on-campus currently, and I am looking to move out at the end of the semester. I have some medical/mobility issues and I live on the fourth floor of a building that has an elevator. The elevator went out for over a week and I struggled quite a bit during that time. There is also the issue of emergencies when the elevator cannot/should not be used. I have been in correspondence with DSR and Housing about moving to a first floor unit, but I have not heard back after my initial DSR meeting despite a few follow-ups. I am assuming this is because there are no empty spots.
I have found a unit off campus that I can move into right after finals week, one that fits my medical needs. Looking at the housing website, it appears that without valid medical documentation (which is not guaranteed to be approved), if I want to break my lease, I am still on the hook for the next semester's housing costs. This is even if I move out with advance notice as I am trying to do.
Has anyone had experience with cancelling mid-contract? Especially for a medical reason. How easy was it to get approved? I have documentation of my mobility issue from my doctor that I used to get the DSR accomodation to move in the first place. I am hoping that housing will let me move out since it is easier than trying to find a first floor accommodation at full capacity. Sorry for the rambling, thank you all in advance!
