I went to hello vintage today and bought a few but I was wondering there were any other places that sell patches
I'm planning a visit to Canmore this weekend and I'm looking for someplace to stay that compares--more or less--with Georgetown Inn. I stayed there for a weekend a couple years back and it was everything I'd hoped for: full of historical charm and immensely hyggeligt with its in-room fireplace, soaker tub, and mountain view, not to mention the cosy pub. The location was perfect as well, offering a central walk to the main shopping area as well as a lovely thrift store in the other direction.
Unfortunately the Georgetown doesn't have any rooms available this weekend. Insert sad panda noises I'd love some suggestions for similarly charming places, hopefully with similar amenities (fireplace, soaker tub, etc.). Tia!
Hey everyone,
My wife and I (and our dogs) are looking to move to Canmore in early 2025 and are looking to get ahead of things by getting a space squared away in advance!
About us: I’m 36 from the US & she is 29.l9 from Edmonton. We both own and operate successful remote businesses in the health and wellness space (she is a nutritionist and personal trainer, I am a sports performance coach) and are avid endurance athletes, climbers and gym goers. We don’t drink or smoke, are both neurotically OCD about keeping our space clean and generally live an extremely clean and quiet life. My family is rooted in real estate so I have a deep respect for the spaces I rent from others.
We have 3 well behaved adult dogs, two of which are hypoallergenic non-shedding breeds and the third is a sweet shepherd mix. They are all fully trained with zero issues of any sort (no chewing, fully potty trained etc). We have years of references for both and are of course happy to set up a pet deposit to offer peace of mind for our renter!
Our intention is to settle permanently in the area and would like to rent for at least a year before we explore buying a space. We’d love to find a place with a 12 month lease and we’re somewhat flexible on move-in dates, with the ideal time frame being sometime between Feb 1-April 1. Our budget is up to $3,500 CAD/month.
We’d love to support a local private renter vs going through an agency so If you have a space that could be a good fit, shoot me a message and I’d love to jump on a call to chat! Thanks so much
I moved to Canmore alone recently and I know chances are I will be alone on Christmas Day. I would rather keep myself busy so I was wondering if anyone knows if there’s any Christmas Day volunteers needed anywhere in Canmore?
Heading to Canmore/Kananaskis in mid December to do some winter tenting and was wondering if anyone knows of any good locations for that!
What I have grasped is that I need to visit, which I'm doing next year and consider lots of places. Thanks to the people of this sub for there help . Many thanks
I am aware that immigration to Canada from the UK can be difficult but I'd like to live near the Rockys and be able to live in nature. I have through this through alot and was wondering what Canmore is like to live in and cost of living and job opportunities. I have looked at other places near the rockys aswell like Revelstoke Cranbrook Cochrane Dawson Creek Fort St John and Prince George. What re your thoughts? Thanks
Hey guys, bit of a long shot here but I'm in canmore for work and have had some issues with my trucks transmission - I need to do a fluid replacement but the bolt to the reservoir appears to be threaded and i have zero tools here witb me. Are there any amateur mechanics or handy people who would accept some cash to meet me and drill the bolt out so that I can get myself home to B.C at the end of the week? Thanks in advance!
Read this article and was curious on peoples opinion. For me I have several qualms,
Wildlife fences work to reduce human wildlife collisions but with no planned crossings where are the wildlife getting funneled and what are the resultant interactions between humans and wildlife then? With TSMV planning to develop and fence off more habitat what are the effects then? is there a huge predator prey funnel? Does this mean we then lose even more access to nature so a few more 2 million dollar homes can be built?
Its great people are concerned about wildlife but I wish they zoomed out a bit. Developing Stone creek, developing TSMV to the fullest all encroach on wildlife zones. In stonecreek development area I have run into numerous bears and even cougars through the years all without incident. How many will die from altering their migration patterns into the steeper less favorable terrain? Certainly not as simple as counting carcasses so probably can be swept under the rug. Feels a bit like being gaslit - dont use an unsanctioned trail in a wildlife corridor but yes please pave over this exact same area and wild life fence it no problems with that. If we actually cared about the true survivability we would be thinking more holistically vs acutely about fencing.
Highway noise has gotten insane in the past years as the highway is generally busier a very simple cost effective solution to wildlife and human safety that would add all of 2 minutes to the 10km would be to lower the speed along the same stretch by 30 kmh. This would massively increase the safety of wildlife while also massively increasing the enjoyment of backyards of many communities. I personally have 65 DB up to 90DB at times measured in properties along the highway when the roads are bad and people are going 80 its actually peaceful and I can enjoy my backyard otherwise I cant even have a conversation unless its face to face.
Every solution these days involves separating humans and wildlife and avoiding interactions. Many years ago it felt like we took an educational approach to coexist. Why do we no longer take this approach? More bears have died from wildlife officers shooting them over fruit trees in town than have died on the highway. Many bears die from grain feeding on CPR to me if we spent more money on education maybe wed actually save more wildlife?
anyways these are my thoughts interested in hearing all of yours.
Hey guys, looking at renting somewhere from mid Jan for 2 months in Canmore, are there any places people would recommend/ websites / companies offering this sort of thing. Basically after a small apartment that sleeps 2/3 people.
Many thanks for any suggestions
We are planning to come for the weekend, are the roads clear of snow/ice Is there any snow in the hiking areas? Or all melted already? Thanks
Hello! I'm looking to see if there's any 93 octane available in Canmore? Thanks
Hi all! I'm looking for a photographer to do a family shoot in the Canmore/Banff area in mid-November. I searched the sub and mostly found recommendations for wedding/engagement photographers, but nothing specific to family shoots. Any recs are appreciated! As a preemptive thank you, please enjoy one of my favorite photos of the Three Sisters :)
Are any local Canmore pubs putting on the UFC 308 fights this Saturday, October 26th?
If anyone in Canmore has carhartt jackets size medium or small I will buy for a good price. Lmk🫡
I’m driving up to canmore tomorrow morning and haven’t put on my winter tires yet. Looking at the forecast there is a significant amount of snowfall in canmore. Would it be dangerous to drive there tomorrow without winter tires?
Edit: Thank you all! I will be staying off the roads!!
Have a trip planned next week. I have never been to Canada before and really excited! What kind of weather should I be prepared for? What are some wardrobe essentials I should bring? Also wouldn’t mind some suggestions!
Many moons ago, Sunday's were pretty awesome. Especially the open mike/jam night at the Ho. I'm back for the first time in about 15 years, where's the goto for Sunday night entertainment. Bonus points if it's something a couple of 40 somethings will enjoy!
I am planning to hike Ha Ling Peak tomorrow, does anyone know how the conditions/weather are for it and what it’s looking like for tomorrow? I have crampons and poles.
Hi All - planning a trip with my girlfriend to the Banff area next June and looking to stay in Canmore for a few days. We see some good Airbnb options in the Spring Creek neighborhood, specifically the Tamarack complex. Is this a good option? Are there any Airbnb zoning concerns with the town in that neighborhood? Any other fun suggestions are strongly welcomed! TIA
Does anyone know what time tonight to see the commit? I heard 45 mins after sunset?
Hi everyone,
I'm in town until Thursday and hoping to get some shots of the comet at sunset and potentially the aurora tonight. Any recommended viewing locations aside from Vermillion, Quarry and Minnewanka?
Conditions look favorable except the clouds. I haven't been able to find a good site for a cloud coverage map yet.
Any intel for viewpoints for astrophotography given today's conditions would be much appreciated!
Has anyone seen any filming notices on the area? I was told a Netflix kdrama is filming in the area
