    Airdrie Driving is Insane

I can’t believe how awful the drivers in Airdrie are. I’ve lived in three cities with populations of 10 million plus and never seen the stupidity I see in Airdrie. Cast your vote for the dumbest driver I’ve seen in Airdrie this week:

Driver 1. The daily (probably hourly) moron who needs to save four seconds by getting into the right lane on first avenue, west bound, at Main Street (which is a right turn only lane) and proceeds to go straight, almost hitting a vehicle turning left head on.

Driver 2. The morons on Main Street who need to go less than 30 KM/H on every curve (this would include 30% of Airdrie drivers).

Driver 3. The moron who has to switch lanes by using blinker, changing lanes, then checking to see if it’s safe. At least this idiot uses a blinker.

Driver 4. The moron who drove 4 KM/H (that’s not an exaggeration!!!) the ENTIRE way on Yankee today between the 7-11 and Main Street with no one in front of him.

Driver 5. The moron, who for no apparent reason, comes to a FULL stop before train track and waits there for 3 seconds before proceeding. No, there was no train coming, and this lady was driving a Toyota Camry - not a commercial vehicle.

Driver 6. The moron who is so impatient that he pulls onto the oncoming lane IN A PLAYGROUND ZONE during the day to whip past the car in front of him at over 100 KM/H. Reminder, in a playground zone during the day.

People here don’t know when to drive faster, when to drive slower, when to be more cautious, or how to follow basic rules.

Airdrie or NW Calgary to live

I have two high functioning asd teens, and wondering which is better/safer for them to live in, be independent as they approach their adult years. Would a nice community in NW Calgary be ok? Would they be ‘accepted’ or helped rather than judged in a smaller place such as Airdrie?

Is there anyone who knows if anyone is hiring. I don't got alot of experience like most 17 year olds. I'm a quick learner just asking to see if anyone knows any good places to apply for who have a high hiring rate.

New Home - Calgary Duplex or Front Garage Airdrie?

    Hi everyone

We are looking to purchase a primary residence property and currently live in NW Calgary. We could either purchase a 1730 sqft duplex with a legal suited basement or a 2100 sqft front garage 15 minutes away from the city (Airdrie). The duplex and the front garage will cost approximately the same. However the front garage will not have a legal suited basement and I would need to add that. For helping us in the mortgage we would like to have a legal suite.

The duplex costs $710,000 and the front garage will cost $740,000. Both homes have 3 beds 2.5 baths, bonus room and a main floor flex room. The duplex requires a garage to be built but that's something I can do within a year.

In terms of future potential and finances, which one should we be looking at? what is the better choice? We currently dont have kids and both of us work in a hybrid position. Is it better to lock in the value of the Front garage now or start small and expand if we require in the future?

    Drywall contractors recommendations

Hey folks, I am looking for recommendations for a drywall contractor/handyman to complete my basement.

My basement is already 90% completed and already insulated everywhere.

I just need someone to complete the remaining areas.

I am already doing research online but thought I would post here for some first hand recommendations.

    Thanks.

    Vesta properties in south point

We live in south point and have been here for almost a year. We have found that the sound proofing in our townhome (mostly to outside) is terrible! I'm not sure if it's from around the windows or what, but even something as simple as someone talking on their phone we can hear from inside. Every morning when our neighbours shovel, it's like it's happening right in our bedroom! Has anyone else experienced this with them?? We are looking to bring it up in our year inspection as well as how drafty by the window wells get but just curious if this is an issue in any other of their builds or I'm just going crazy??

    doctors plus

why are they so fucking bad at answering the phone? i’ve been on hold for 30 minutes, and all i need is a prescription refill. at this point would it just be easier to go in? i absolutely adore my family doctor, hence why i don’t want to switch clinics, but the reception??? absolutely ridiculous.

    Plumbing Question

If my house was built in 2007 could I possibly have poly b plumbing? We take possession January 31 and insurance is asking me. I read online that it should be pex or copper with the age of my house, but the insurance company is saying that it's probably poly b due to the age of the house.

    Telus internet outage?

    Hi everyone,

Is there a Telus services outage in Airdrie? My home internet and security haven’t been working since yesterday.

I checked the outage page for Telus and it was pretty vague. Any idea of how long to expect it being out?

Hoping not to be disappointed by neighbours

My 85 y/o mother sent us a gift basket for Christmas but we didn't get it. Mom called the company and they agreed to send a second basket. It was delivered today but not to our house. Turns out that she gave them the wrong house number, 5 digits off. The husband went to the other house to ask about the basket but no one was home. I went again after dinner. They were home, the lights were on, a car was in driveway but again, no answer. We never answer the door when we aren't expecting anyone or do not recognize who is knocking, so no judgment. I went prepared with a note asking them to call me and I'll pick it up.

I hope to hear from them, either that I can pick up the basket or that they didn't receive it. But my intuition is that they have already tore into it (and the first one).

    I hope to be surprised.

UPDATE: The neighbour texted me, and I picked up the basket. My intuition was off, thankfully! 😊
