I'm reading "Secrets of the Soil" and it makes a very good case for BD but I'm having a hard time finding the actual scientific evidence that it makes a difference.
I built this app to collect and share farming wisdom in an easy-to-use and in-context way. Farmers can share their wisdom and then ask the chatbot for advice based on the wisdom of other real farmers (including references)
Any brands that send biodynamic food, herbs etc to UK?
Many thanks 🙏
What BD communities are y'all a part of online and are any of them active?
Does anyone have any information on how biodynamic agriculture or anthroposophy approach the artesian wells?
Hey peeps,
I just cleared some trees (about 2-3 acres) on my land. Where do I go from here to start farming? The plan is to create a flower farm. They mulched the trees down, and there were pieces of tree everywhere and in piles. Do I have to wait for the mulch to dry and rot? Are there any recommended books? Any advice?
What are some good books associated as biodynamics that would make a good gift / coffee table book.
I have a family friend who is very interested in Biodynamics and similar styles of farming and she has recently done me a massive favour and has been helping me care for someone. Thus I would like to get her a book as a token of my appreciation. I see some book recommendations here, but are there any which are gifty, really nice illustrations, maybe a larger book that can be a coffee table book?
Cheers
I've been learning about farm and gardening practices for a little bit. I have a garden that I've been tending to for the past 3 years and want to eventually homestead and grow my own food. I've tried traditional gardening and it works for now. Recently I found out about biodynamic farming and permaculture farming. They are both interesting concepts. I wonder has anyone tried them or together? Has that worked? What are your experiences?
I am on the hunt for a composter but so many of them are plastic which I want to avoid. Are there metal ones that you like? Will a wooden one hold up to years of use? Any pointers are greatly appreciated!
That's it, that's the post. I loved every minute of it haha.
The rosefolk just announced a new course on biodynamic farming and gardening! It will be 100% free and live on Discord (though it will be recorded for those who miss it).
This course is intended for beginners, but all can attend there are no prerequisites or expectations, come in and see what happens!
The first installment will be on Monday, 15th of April, at 8PM GMT (the event page in discord shows the time in your timezone) and will reoccur approximately every other week. Hope to see you there!

Hey everyone, I have access to cow horns (female cows) Perfect for biodynamic preparations. Depending on demand there might be a waiting list. Open to trades of sales. DM me for more info, Peace ✌️
Has anyone found a good biodynamic calendar? I’m new into bio dynamics and would find it incredibly helpful to have such a tool.
Would it be better to germinate before the full moon (three days), or 5 days before full moon but on the a Rooting constellation of Taurus (ascending i think northern perspective) or a day after full moon with a virgo moon (descending northern pers)…. BTW- I’m just south of EQUATOR.
My understanding is that the moon constellations are less impactful than full moon phase. For example- germination 3 days before full moon recommended, but also in a descending moon constellation (https://pevgrow.com/blog/en/do-you-have-in-mind-the-moon-to-grow-marijuana/).
Now, when I read any site, they mention south or equator as a reversal of asc/des.
Hi all, I’m looking into biodynamic peppering but it’s difficult (almost impossible) to find resources online for the correct dates to prepare and apply the ash/sand. Does anyone have experience with this or could perhaps point me in the right direction? Thank you!
Here in this video Biodynamic & Natural wine producers Alex & Maria Koppitsch discuss how their blends focus on soil type rather than grape varietal (their most popular wine Homok means sand, in Hungarian) and how difficult it was for them in the beginning to even find buyers of their wine... they almost gave up
Has anyone tried these wines? Be interested to hear your opinions below
This question is a little abstract but I feel like this is the right place to ask. I'm working on a project and wanted to know where I could find the grapevine's associated zodiac sign (if that's a thing) and which of the four elements the grapevine is associated with (mainly).
I came up with the grapevine being primarily associated with elemental air (also associated with light in biodynamics) because it reaches upwards ,constantly striving for the sun's light (i.e. soul), and will use any structure to get itself in direct reception of the sun's light.
I've also found online that the best time to plant (by seed) is in an air sign (flower), especially Libra, but if it could be done in a fire sign (any) that would promote the best fruit.
Anyone have resources or books that might point me in the right direction or expand on this association?
How do you all deal with snails? I have my garden filled with them! Like literally; you take one step and behold! A snail is down your foot!
Could someone please point me to the differences between these two books by Richard Thornton Smith?:
The books are:
For what I have seen both books basically touch upon the same topics 🤷🏻
Hi. I would like to begin biodynamic farming. Which books do you suggest? I am interested in both the practical and esoteric side of it and knowing myself I can say that the best for me would be a book that teaches simultaneously those two.
