RULES/GUIDELINES
How to ask good questions: http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
2. Find and Read the product manual before posting - A lot of answers can be found in the product manual. Seriously, that's what I do when someone posts a question, I first go to the manual, and most of the time, the answer is there.
3. Post Formatting Matters - No one likes to read through a wall of text, you can easily add paragraph breaks by adding double line breaks.
4. Put effort into your Titles - Vague post titles such as "Help", or "Please Help", or "Question" will be a sure way that no one will want to help you. Use a succinct, clear, and helpful title when creating your posts.
5. Try Google First - Before you post, you should try typing your question into google.
6. No piracy or distribution of copyrighted content - No piracy or distribution of copyrighted content. Violation of this rule may lead to permanent ban with no warning.
7. No offering money or services in exchange for help - We are here to help. Do not try to incentivise getting help by offering to pay or exchange goods or services for help.
8. No promotion or self promotion - Posts should be made to inform or facilitate discussion. Any posts with the intent to self-promote, enter contests or sweepstakes, sell products or services, or are appeals for money / funding will most likely be removed. If you feel an exception should be made, please message the moderation team.
9. There may be a better subreddit for your post - For example, if you have a question about car audio, try posting in r/carav.
10. No solicitation of services - If you are looking for someone to do some work for you, or if you yourself are looking for work, there are other subreddits in which you could post.
11. No Legal Advice - We are not a Legal Advice Subreddit. DO NOT post asking for assistance cleaning up audio for any legal matter which may be used in a court of Law. Specifically, for audio to be used in a legal matter, (depending on the state) it MUST remain unaltered. Consult your locality/attorney for best advice for your situation. Don't let some rando on reddit complicate your situation.
12. No Click-bait, "snake-oil", or unverified/unsubstantiated theories - Posting “snake-oil” products or theories will be removed. Also, Clickbait and Clickbait formatted titles.
13. Don't be a dick - If someone posts something you don’t agree with, don’t belittle, start a discussion. If you have nothing nice to say, move on, don’t say it. Follow the rules of Reddit, and observe reddiquette. Remember, on the other side of the computer is a person. Failing to adhere to this rule may result in a mute or temp ban.

Maybe a dumb question, but is it possible to have a casette/cd player going into my audio interface at the same time as my computer audio and hear both in my headphones? I'd really like to listen to my physical music while working/playing games. I have a UA Volt 2.
Hello! I have a pair of Bose 901 speakers that I inherited from a friend. I have them setup to my AV Receiver and they sound OK at best.
I just found out that it is basically essential for these speakers to be connected to the Bose EQ that came with the speakers to get any decent audio out of them. (I do not own the EQ, and need to buy it).
Before I buy it, I am trying to figure out if I would be able to connect this EQ to my AV Receiver without having to buy/use a separate amplifier.
Here is a rough diagram of how I think I would have to connect it. Would it work to have the PRE OUT connect to the EQ, and then back into the Receiver via the Multi Ch. Input?
Alternatively, I was thinking I could use the AUDIO OUT instead of the PRE OUT. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
im making a mod for a dragon ball game in which two characters fuse to create a new character and I wondered if I fed ai voice lines if its in theory possible to make ai say the exact same thing in the same way in two characters voices at the same time? or if the lines were identical I could put them together for the lines.
Just purchased Yamaha HS3 speakers wanting to plug them into my desktop. Do I need to purchase an audio interface for them to work?
Hello! For a while, I have used my Logitech sound system (I believe the Z625 system) for my TV. I recently got a new Samsung smart TV, which does not have a 3.5mm port for my sound system. Instead, the only Audio output it has is eARC. I really do not want to find a new sound system because I really like mine. Can anyone recommend a converter or any other way around this problem?
I've always wondered: how do cables break in the first place? I've been using a 6.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable with my headphones for years, and only recently has it started causing issues—like audio only transmitting in one channel until I replug or twist it just right. I understand this is likely due to wear and tear, such as bending or twisting the cable in unintended directions, or general wire degradation.
But I'm curious—what other factors could cause problems like this? Is it solely a cable issue, or could it also be due to jack damage?
Hi ther,
Before I got these speakers, I was using an amp + speaker setup. It was clunky and took up a lot of space so I opted to get a more minimalistic look and bought the A28. I simply used the same HDMI cable I had connected previously to the amp to connect to the A28 but for some reason it's not working.
The PC doesn't really "recognise" it under any sound choices. Now I am using the HDMI out from the Motherboard (Asus Rog Strix B650E-F Wifi) as the GPU is busy with graphics and I want all default sound to go to the speakers obviously. The HDMI version, according to ASUS website, is HDMI 2.1 so it should be able to handle it just fine. Again, the amp worked easily.
Question is, what could be wrong? I can use the other function of the speaker, like Wifi and Bluetooth (tried Spotify via mobile) so the speakers themselves work. I've swapped to "TV" on the speaker remote as the HDMI is set for that but nothing (also cycled other inputs). In the Sound menu I'm using the HDMI says "Not plugged in" for some reason. Also tried different HDMI-cables.
Any advice would be nice. Want a simple speaker setup, nothing fancy.
Edit: I did try connecting to an HDMI output on my GPU as well for the heck of it. Nope. Not recognised there either.
Hi All,
I recently bought the house my grandfather built in the Chicagoland area in 1967. It has a whole-house intercom system from the 60's: a NuTone 2561-62 master station with 12x12 larger room stations in most of the rooms, and smaller 2570-B units in the bathrooms.
When I bought the house, the system wasn't working but I was able to remove the units, de-oxidize the contacts on the switches, and it now works pretty well.
I've kept the midcentury modern look in the rest of the house, but the master bathroom has been completely gutted and modernized, and now the unit for that room really doesn't look like it belongs anymore. I was thinking I'd take the small board from the old room station out, make a less conspicuous faceplate for it, and then figure out a way to make the speaker outputs go into a bluetooth transmitter. I can then hide a small bluetooth speaker in the bathroom for music.
I know this is jumping through a lot of hoops to achieve the same result as sticking an Echo Dot in the bathroom, but I like the idea of keeping this old system active. Can anyone provide guidance on whether I can accomplish this, and if so what kind of device will work as the bluetooth transmitter?
I currently have 3 seperate audio inputs in my Fiio K7 (PC through USB / TV using optical / Monitor using line in). I'd like to somehow run the PC and TV audio simultaneously, this was possible with my old DAC (Soundblastex G6) but with the FiiO I have to switch inputs and play 1 at a time.
My question is, does it make sense to get a small mixer like the Behringer 302USB, connected my PC and TV into it through USB and line in and then connect the output of the mixer into the K7's input? Is that a good work around or are there easier/more logical solutions?
thanks in advance.
Hello,
my dad's got his hands on a Sugdem SDA1 digital audio converter (DAC) he say's it's 1980's~, it's turned into a bit of a project and he's been looking for a wireing schematic, it's got a dead second channel and no apparent reason, done some basic searches but found nothing
any help would be apreaciated, if this post is on the wrong thread please direct me to the appropriate thread
thanks
This is my first time getting some new speakers and I am in need of a little help.
I just got a pair of edifier r1280t, and they have an RCA output that I can put into my focusrite scarlet solo compact (1st gen). This is nice because I need to use my headphones and mic at my pc setup, so I am able to use both the audio interface for my mic, headphones, and speakers as needed. My headphones are DT 990 Pros just as FYI. And using an XLR at2020 microphone.
The problem is the actual interface has some hardware defects and I need a new system, however they do not make audio interfaces with the RCA inputs anymore and so I am not sure what the solution here is. I have another audio interface I currently use for my mic, but what do I need to get for my system to work?
Do I need to get an amp and somehow connect that to my audio interface? Any and all help is appreciated.
Sorry if I am not making sense, I am extremely new to audio stuff.
I am buying my first “proper microphone” (not counting airpod, laptop and iphone mic) I would use it for general purpose, video call, work, zoom, sometimes voice over and streaming, also singing, not professional, just hobby, usually with acoustic guitar, piano or violin, bolero, classical music kind. I do not have any experience with XLR and no audio interface so I’m just trying out with usb microphone, room is untreated, a normal studio. I have been considering the Fifine k688 and the Audio-Technica ATR2100x. I can get them for relatively the same price where I am.
Would love to hear some advice!
I have had the ultimate ears boom 3 for about 3 years now and it has worked ever since until very recently when I power it on it just says “critical battery please charge” and if I connect the cable the light flashes but never charges up.
I’ve searched high and low on how to fix this issue. Someone advised me to plug in the cable for 5s then unplug, I repeatedly did this about 5-10 times until the light doesn’t flash at all, was able to finally power on the speaker, factory reset, connect and play some songs but now with the charger plugged in the light doesn’t flash and the app just says the battery is critical
I’m just going to leave it powered on all night whilst plugged in charging and see what happens in the morning.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this?
i recently got the hyper x cloud 2 kingston (not HP) but already sold it again because the volume is too low on my laptop. i need some recommendation for best gaming headset to use in laptop? now i worried that all headset volume is gonna low on my laptop, do i really need dac/amp? please give me some advice
i just want a good plug and play headset for my laptop to play valorant
We're opening a brand-new cafe and are currently working on the audio system. We've already purchased 6 passive speakers with a power output of 2x20W each. However, I don’t have much experience with audio system installation, and I could really use some advice on how to position them effectively.
What would be the best locations, angles, and directions for optimal sound coverage? I've attached an image with a floor plan of the cafe for reference. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi all.
Bought a pair of wireless headphones (YOWU Cat Ear Headphone 3G Wireless) alongside a Sony CD Walkman (D-EJ011) for my girlfriend.
She loves them both, but would ideally like to use them together. Is there any way to do this? I have tried two kinds of USB-C to 3.5mm adapters from Amazon, but to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any help and feedback!
Ok so I am trying to connect a class D amp to my speaker system beacuse the blu-tooth is not compatable with my TV so i need to be able to find a more efficient way to connect my system using either an RCA passthrough or through an amp.
I purchased the AIYIMA A07 Pro TPA3255 Stereo Amplifier Bluetooth 5.2 300Wx2 HiFi Class D Amp for my system setup. I heard some pretty great things about this amp after doing some research. I have heard that the best way to provide a direct audio signal is either using bare wire connectors or banana connectors how ever, the speaker system that I have does not support banana ports, only bare wire. So I guess i need to purchase a banana cable to bare opened audio wire cable in order for this to work.
This is what im purchasing for the cable.
This is my speaker system:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KXT9N6Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also after researching compability of amps to speakers there is an impedence measurement that you have to take into account, other wise you can damage your system or the speakers will not operate at effecient performance. I have no idea what this even is or even where to find this value. It doesn't seem to display the impedence on amazon.
My other alternative option if the goldwood speakers don't work, i can always go with a different set of speakers with banana ports on the back so i can hook up the cables from the amp to the speaker.
I am mainly purchasing this system for the purposes of high amplfied audio that produces more clarity in sound especially with vocals for TV watching, like plex which tends to have very low convertion audio that is downmixed.
Anyways as you can probably tell i am an absolute green horn at this and I need some serous guidence here.
If you can, please advise me on what compatable speaker systems to buy if the goldwood will not work with this purchased amp and the proper cables, connectors and or converters that I might need to connect all this to my TV.
And the T778 saga continues...
After a second failure of amp modules on my NAD T778, I acquired an Anthem 525 Gen 2 to power my speakers, and I'm using the Auto-ON feature on my 525, which means that the amp stays on for about 20 minutes after everything else is powered off.
After powering off everything (the amp stays on until its timeout), I noticed a buzz/hum coming from the speakers, so I started troubleshooting: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7NLPrii9JGg
This buzz/hum disappears if I do a hard power off on the T778 while the amp is still ON. I then removed the interconnects completely from both sides and the hum disappears.
I have also tried different interconnects and even put the T778 and amp on different wall outlets to rule out any cabling/power issues, but as soon as the T778 is in the chain, then the buzz/hum reappears. Unplugged everything, even the ethernet cable, USB, etc., only power cable and centre channel connected - still an audible buzz/hum from the centre speaker.
So it seems to me that there is a signal still going from the T778 to the 525 even when the T778 is in standby. This was confirmed by measuring a 6 mV residual AC emanating from the pre-outs. What is very strange is that when we put the T778 on Standby, the residual AC drops to 0 mV, and then slowly climbs up to the 6 mV, which then results in the noise.
This was not a major issue, as I got the trigger working, so the 525 was never ON while the T778 went into standby. But after the latest BluOS update, the buzz/hum is now present ALL THE TIME - clearly audble during quiet spaces in movies!
After logging a support request with NAD, the local agents have come to the party to try and sort this out.
While my T778 is going to the repair centre, I've setup my Oppo UDP-203 as my AVR.
It can do almost everything that the T778 can do, except for no turntable input, and no direct streaming capability - although I can use Roon to achieve this.
There is no eARC functionality, so watching Netflix/YT/etc. from the TV is a bit of a manual process, but I can probably get around this with my Harmony programmable remote.
The sub output level also seems to be not very strong from the 203, as the sub is not coming on when it should. If I run a test tone to wake it up, then it keeps working. But if there's enough of a silent spell, the sub goes on standby and doesn't kick back in, unless I manually intervene. But the workaround is to just leave the sub permanently on.
There is also no upmixing of inputs, and I like to listen to radio stations in Surround - but that's not a dealbreaker.
What is most important though, is that the *sound quality* to me sounds just as good as the T778.
TBH, I'm struggling to justify why I would want the T778 back...
I'm just looking for advice on some wireless earphones. I want a pair that at least sound decent, don't cost an arm and a leg, would prefer ANC but not that important. I also have a requirement for a pair that actually have a decent microphone that does not pick up ever single bit of background noise. I currently have a pair of Galaxy Buds FE and they have genuinely been one of my worst purchase. Any advice would be appreciated. The microphone is for when I need to use then at work to call clients, I don't want them to be hearing the conversation that is happening on the other side of the office.
I’m getting a new 4K TV that is made from LG and I want to know if I should get a Soundbar with two rear speakers and a subwoofer to replace my Logitech Z906. I was thinking about going with the S70RS or one of the JBL sound bar systems, but I don’t know how it would hold up to the Logitech Z906 in terms of bass and surround. If anyone could give me any thoughts I would appreciate it.
I just got a PC and I am going to be streaming games and appearing on my friends podcast now and then so I was wondering if anyone could give some recommendations for a headset and mic combo that would give good sound quality for me and the stream. I’m new to this so all advice is appreciated.
when I connect my lav to my recorder, I use an adaptor to go from 4pin to 3pin.
I have always done this but don't know why.
Hello, long story short I am trying to figure out how to let my friends talk through my microphone so I can have fun in games, making other players hear different voices from my mic.
I tried using VoiceMeeter Banana/Potato, but although after 30 minutes I somewhat got it working, my friends said the audio was buggy when they tried to listen to themselves through it to test it. Also the program was extremely complicated, and I'm not really an expert in this, so it was overwhelming.
Does anyone know if there's a simpler way to achieve this? Maybe an alternative program or link to a guide? I tried searching on YouTube for a good bit, however a lot of the tutorials were for how to patch music through the microphone, which is not what i'm looking for, since discord works a little differently in terms of audio because of the input/output settings in it.
