I’m curious. Has anyone else experienced their Sonos app volume control unexpectedly being fixed overnight?!? After 6 months of frustration and disappointment, IT WORKS. I can barely believe it. It volume slide works absolutely perfectly, just as before the update last May. The app still takes 12 seconds to load, but I can live with that. I have made zero changes to my network or settings. Am I alone, or are others seeing this, too?
I’m going crazy
I’ve rebooted all my speakers. I’ve rebooted my WiFi
I cannot get playlists to play. If I pull up a playlist I can get individual songs to play but have to add any other songs individually one at a time to the queue.
I have an active YouTube premium account. None of the easy use I’ve experienced in the past works.
Has anyone solved this problem themselves? Please help.
Mine just arrived. Obviously the speaker quality destroys that of my TV, but to me it basically sounds like mono. No stereo image whatsoever. Is that just how it is, or am I doing something wrong and there’s a setting I can tweak?
I spent thousands of dollars on a sound system that is truly and completely destroyed. UFB
For those who have 2 subs in their system, is it worth it, or unnecessarily excessive? Even if you don't... was wondering what people’s thoughts were on this, especially maxing your system out if you’ve already got a soundbar, 2 rears and a sub. Is there really big difference?
Hi u/KeithFromSonos and TeamFromSonos, here are my unsolicited suggestions for priority app improvements.
Volume control. Adjusting the main / mulitroom volume should take effect in less than one second. Currently there's a 2-3 second moment where the volume slider jumps back to it's previous position and then maybe, if you're lucky, jumps to the newly requested level.
Pausing the currently playing track. This MUST happen fast; so many use cases where you need to stop the music right away. Currently there's a 2-3 second delay to pause.
Playing a new track. I get that there's some delay needed here to cache the new stream, but it's currently a noticably long delay after you tap a new track before that track plays. And there's zero UX feedback that you tapped / that the app is working on switching to the new track / source.
You should benchmark the Sonos app against 3rd party apps like SonoPhone (that use your API). For the three items above, SonoPhone is currently faster and more reliable for these table-stakes actions like play / pause and volume control.
Let's go Team Sonos - we're rooting for you to MOSGA (Make Our Sonos Great Again ;-)
Relatively small living room so not interested in a full surround setup. Which of the 3 options is the better buy?
Any ideas for this narrow gap so I can get it off the mantle?
Has anyone had luck taking of an advantage of a sales on sets when you want the speakers to be different colors? There is a 20% off an Eras 300 set now but I want one black and one white. Purchasing on the website doesn't seem to allow that option. Haven't been able to get through to the customer service # yet and so have sent an email. Just trying to set my expectations.....
Why does my system require me to perform the same update and reconnect all of my speakers every single time I try to use it? This system is really so unbelievably bad.
People keep asking why anyone would stick with Sonos when they have screwed up so badly.
I think it’s because no one else even attempts to match the three great features provided by Sonos.
Multi-room sync. Roon has it, but there’s a subscription fee. WIIM has it to a limited extent. Denon has it, but I hear really bad things about it.
Nearly all streaming services and radio stations available from a single app.
Cross service searching and multi-service playlists. Whoops. Playlists are still broken.
It’s okay to be angry about the app, but consider that the nearest competitor, Roon, has only one or two streaming services, and a stiff subscription fee. The app, even in its current state, is so easy to use that it fools you into thinking it is simple, and fools you into thinking it should be easy to program.
The lack of competition says it isn’t easy or simple.
Hi everyone,
Was hoping to get some input on the better purchase decision.
With all the Super Bowl sales going on, I have the opportunity to upgrade my standalone Arc Ultra for my apartment.
Would you rather a pair of Era 300’s for surrounds, or a pair of Era 100’s and a Sub Mini for the same price?
Thanks everybody for your help!
Am I the only one experiencing random speakers turning on at max volume lately? Like out of nowhere a room will come on at max volume.
Answer: Officially by Sonos; Yes you can adjust audio settings without dropping trueplay.
If I mess around with audio settings, will the trueplay calibration be overwritten or do my settings just work on top of the trueplay calibration?
I just recalibrated my Sonos beam + 2 OneSL trueplay with an iPhone of a friend, because I recently got a new couch. She's the only person I know with an iPhone and she doesn't live close by.
It worked well, but the surround speakers are a bit loud / the beam is too quiet for my taste.
Short summary:
Tried adding Symfonisk Lamp Gen 1 to my Sonos. It refused, failed on Wifi step every time. Tried factory reset, rebooting router, restarting the app and so on. Nothing worked, chatted with support, nothing helped.
Plugged in a cable temporarily, that worked. However, after 20 min or so my Beam that was on the Wifi with no issues at all stopped playing and then said not connected and then disappeared. Tryed re-adding it, factory reset, fail fail fail.
Ok, tried cable into it, worked. Then the lamp went missing. I refuse to use Ethernet to my devices, any ideas?
The support told me to call the Swedish phone support on Monday so will do that but until then I would like to try and get it working myself.
I have 2x Asus RT-AX58U with AIMESH but tried removing one and still same issue.
Can someone help me out and check what the lastest S1 firmware for the o.g. playbar is? My Sonos keeps trying to update the playbar and fails.
Just have to say that after the last few updates my experience has kept getting better (Era 300). The songs now play, volume and overall responsiveness is quicker than before, everything seems a bit less laggy. Don’t get me wrong, still not perfect (could be and should be quicker than it is) but as much as I can gather they are taking a step in the right direction. So I’m wondering if anyone else has had a positive experience ? Also I’m interested if anyone knows if there’s been talk of Dolby Atmos support directly via Apple Music, I’m pretty sure that currently the only way to play Dolby Atmos content is via Sonos App ?
I bought my father a Ray for Christmas and it’s worked fine until today. Now it says the above message in a very fast voice whenever he tries to change the volume with the remote. We disconnected the remote and reconnected it, but it’s still speaking this message. Anybody have any thoughts or have any of you had the same issue?
Hi all I own an Playbar, connected via optical cable to my Philips TV. Every time I start my tv, Playbar volume is on 10. how can I change the default volume?
Thx
I am looking to use a Sonos speaker for my desktop setup which includes a Macbook Pro M2 and CalDigit TS4. I don't have a huge desk and so looking for something that is smaller profile. I also want to be able to use the speaker via AirPlay.
Is my best overall bet a Sonos Era 100 with line-in audio? I considered the Ray but the problem is my USB hub (Caldigit) doesn't support Optical. Any other things I should consider? Thanks in advance for the help!!
I have a Wiim Ultra and would like to connect to the Sonos environment. Connecting through the Sonos system via RCA cables and a Sonos port results in poor sound. My Sonos Arc Ultra has no Toslink port. Is there any way to make a digital rather than analogue connection into my Sonos system to match the present quality I have with a Sonos only environment?
Hi,
I have two Sonos Fives gen 3 and I am thinking about having them as a part of a home theater system for my TV. I’m considering getting an arc ultra and a sub where the two fives goes as back speakers.
Is this setup solid? Am I missing out a lot compared to the Era 300s?
Best regards,
J
Probably a dumb question, but I bought an arc and have a one SL in my kitchen that I want to play with the soundbar (open concept, just want to hear the tv in the kitchen not a stereo setup). It seems like since I only have one other speaker it won’t let me make them a pair and I have to manually make the one in the kitchen play with the soundbar every time I turn the tv off. Is there a way to just default the one to play with the soundbar? Thanks!
Since wifi is often giving problems for the (high bandwidth) Sonos audio stream I was thinking about installing a powerline ethernet adapter in the power sockets where my Sonos product connect to the electricity and connect my speakers with each other using a ethernet cable. For this I want to use product like this: Wi-Fi Range Extender with AC Passthrough
Although its a wifi range extender it also has the option to use it with a wired network connection. The ideal situation for my Sonos speakers :)
This got me thinking. Why does Sonos not integrate this tech in their product line? And if it would be integrated inside the speaker body it could be completely hidden from sight... Wired network over the powerline through the speakerpower cord. Super sexi. The silver bullet solution for a lot of the current Sonos product.
If any Sonos exec reads this and likes the idea I would appreciate a replacement of my current Sonos system with this new tech :)
Ever since last week’s (?) app update for iOS, nothing shows up under Recently Played, just the following message:
Your recent history will show here once you’ve played some content.
This was working before the update. I’ve logged out and back into my account but no worky. Search history is already enabled in preferences.
Anything I can try to get this working again?
I have been a long term Sonos User and I do like the Arc Ultra a lot. In fact, the better Atmos Effects and also better musicality for me are the greatest advantages over the OG Arc. I also compared it to the Q990D and I liked the Sonos Arc Ultra a little better for movies and universes better for music.
One feature, where I don't agree with a lot of folks here but also reviewers is the better center channel/dialogue clarity of the Arc Ultra. To me, the Arc was okay but not spectacular and the Arc Ultra is exactly the same. The different levels of speech enhancement do nothing for me (except for the highest level, which makes voices very piercing. I don't have any issues with normal setereo content and also not with Atmos but especially with 5.1., voices do sound very thin and hard to understand. I know this is higly dependant on how the movie sound is mixed, but it really happens in a lot of movies. This is also the only area where the Samsung Q990d performs considerably better. Am I the only one with this problem?
