Hello, I'm in Japan now and in about a week I'll be traveling to Bangkok.
Actually, I will be going to Kuala Lumpur after Bangkok, but I plan to stay 3 days in Bangkok, so I will bring all my belongings, including a sex toy and lubricant that I bought in Japan. The sex toy is a silicone onahole and I only have one.
I just became aware that Thailand's customs rules prohibit pornography material. However, does this also apply to personal items? And is it just one sex toy?
Please let me know if you have experience bringing a sex toy into Thailand. If it’s not allowed, I will dispose of it here.
Hi, I've been enjoying listening to this music from northern Thailand recently, and I'm curious what the genre would be called. I'm familiar with genres like mor lam, but I feel like this is somehow different. Thanks so much!

Hi all :)
I'm in Chiang Rai and saw what appeared to be a lady bug in my tent so I took it outside and it flew away.
Later the same type of bug landed near me and I was watching it and thinking, how cool!
As I watched the fascination soon turned into concern and then ultimately slight horror as it kept opening its shell and then these long locust looking wings kept emerging in and out, getting longer and longer and something that looked like the scene from Alien where a little head (?) kept coming out and going back in.
Maybe that's just a normal bug hahah, I have no idea, but to me it looked like one of those scenario's where a bug lays an egg inside another bug and then emerges ....is this a thing? Does anyone know ...I'm so curious and can't find any information on Google.
TIA 😊 🙏
สวัสดีครับ. So I was raised in Bangkok at young age so I do have decent Prathom level Thai language. However, I pretty much only use them in casual, friendly, or family conversation. But pretty much live the remaining of my whole life abroad. So I really need some help on how to use Thai language professionally at work, without sounding too formal (if that even exist).
Now I am applying for a role for an MNC in Thailand, who are majority American, but my potential boss is Thai. Recently, we had a coffee and things were casual, we had convo in English, and I just addressed her by her name. For example, "Hi Pornthip (not her name), nice meeting you in person".
Then towards the end, she asked if I could speak Thai, after which I said Yes, but not too good. So she 'tested' me by having a little convo in Thai. Things were okay, but the whole time, I was struggling to use the right vocab, and the biggest dilemma in my head was "How do I address her?", so I just kinda intentionally skipped that thing while talking to her, so it was sorta an incomplete sentence lol.
I am 30, she's about late 50s -- so much older than I am. She addressed herself as "Chan: ฉัน" and dropped "Pii: พี่" here and there. So next time, should I be calling her "Khun Pii: คุณพี่ (Her name)" or "Pii - (Her name)" or "either of those alone, without her name"?
What are the other professional etiquettes in the use of language I should be aware of?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! ขอบคุณครับผม.

Hey there,
I'm gonna be in Thailand for about a month, what are the best Internet options for my laptop?
Thanks for the help.
TL:DR - First time back to the US in nearly 7 years and both prices of everything and attitudes of (most of) the people here freakin' suck.
I came to Thailand in early 2018 and have only traveled to surrounding countries since. I intended to come back a few years ago, but Covid made that unfeasible for a number of reasons, and now I'm back. Brought my wife for her first trip to the US and to meet my family. That part of it has been fantastic, but most everything else about the trip has not.
The price shock has been terrible. With the amount of money I budgeted for this trip, I could have flown everyone we'll visit here in the US to Thailand (10 people), rented pool villas for a month to house them all comfortably, and purchased all groceries, snacks and food necessary to keep everyone well-fed for a whole month. Meanwhile, here I paid $200 for four people to eat a meal at a restaurant. A burger joint here cost $92 for four people and... this has been particularly frustrating... the clerk didn't greet us, offer us menus or anything, I ordered from a tablet and paid by tapping my card before he even acknowledged we were there. I selected to not give any tip (as I got 0 service of any kind) and the jerk gave me attitude for it.
Most of the people here are at least overweight if not obese, and many of these morbidly obese. More often than not, people act annoyed when you enter their business and do little more than point to the tablets provided for ordering and paying. And everyone expects tips despite providing little to no service at all, and showing annoyance with your presence.
WTF?
This first part of our trip has been to southern California. We got excellent service from a little hole in the wall Mexican food place, excellent service at a convenience store (the lady was super kind and friendly to us), and the people at Chik-Fil-A went out of their way to make my wife feel welcome. That being said, 3 places out of 20 or so is a piss poor ratio and it saddens me.
This is what my adult children deal with on the daily. I'm mad that they've grown accustomed to it, but proud to see they retain their manners and politeness anyway.
We were excited to go to a street-food market here near San Diego, but two tacos cost $18 (610 THB) and two Gyro sandwiches with two sodas were $28 (950 THB). In fairness, they were delicious but I thought my wife was going to choke. Street food...
You can visit the San Diego zoo for just $74 per person (2,514 THB).
I'm thrilled about seeing my (adult) kids, my sister and parents, but I'm already anxious to return to the land of smiles.
Does anybody have idea what's the best way to childproof this kind of ponds or know service/manufacturer specialising in such things? Note it has fishes and ideally we would like them to stay there.
I was thinking about some dense mesh fence - designatned for this purpose, but those fences seem to be better fit for bigger and open areas like swimming pools.
Then I started thinking about some metal covers / grates. Like in the attached picture. At the top is the actual pond and below reference pics.
I will be leaving Thailand next week and moving out of my condo. I will come back to Thailand in 4-5 months. Is there any place you know that you can pay to leave a motorcycle for a few months in Bangkok? I don't know anyone with a garage and my building won't let me keep it here after I move out.
please dm me if you are interested and have an ms or phd. this is mandatory to have. please don’t bother if you have not attained an ms or phd in mathematics.
Okay, Thai lottery peeps... Down at the lower right of the lottery result page (https://cdn.lottery.co.th/lotto/image/671101.jpg) in a section translated as "Three-digit Government Lottery Results".
How do those work? This is the only thing I can find that even mentions those. Thanks!
I've got 2 orders that have come in from China and both seem to be stuck in clearing customs. What used to take 4-5 hours is now taking 48+ (and counting). Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? Is this a part of the crackdown on cheap foreign goods that I've read about?
Just got a condo a two weeks ago after moving here and my internet went down. I just assumed that the building owned the WiFi and I paid it within my other bills. There’s a router here still from the previous tenant and it has a qr code to pay the bill to keep using it. Can I just pay the bill and use the old WiFi router or will that be an issue?
Hi! Where can I buy the machines they use to brew thai tea in the streets?
Hi!
I'm currently studying at MUIC as an exchange student, and I was supposed to stay until April 2025, but I need to leave Thailand in December. That being said, I'm about to stop my contract with my current accommodation. However, I'm living with a roommate, and my place is asking me to find someone to take over my lease (from January to April).
If you are interested and want more details, feel free to contact me! I live close to MUIC and my rent is 7500baht before electricity and water. I have my own room and own bathroom too.
Hi all, good day to you! not sure whether this is the correct sub to ask this question.
I have seen the movie last year but can't seem to remember the name. Here is the plot, at the beginning of the movie, a drug dealer decided to hide money in an apartment, but he went to the wrong unit because the main female character's unit number turned upside down. Instead of going to the correct unit, he went to the female unit. The female lead accidentally kill that guy and decided to keep the money and hide the dead body. Halfway through the movie, the police and the other drug dealers meet off at her house and killed each other. One drug dealer was shot dead but revived in the afterlife because he did something funny.
This is a movie with a lot of comedy components. Anyone can help me with this? Thank you!
Hi all,
Yesterday I posted about organizing a meetup do to a pub crawl of some off-the-beaten path places in Bangkok. Perhaps it'll be a regular thing if this goes well, so let me know what you're hoping to get out of the evening.
We're going to meet at McDonald's at Major Ratchayothin (near BTS Ratchayothin, just north of Mo Chit and Central Ladprao) at 20:00, tonight (Saturday, Nov 2).
You can expect to spend at least a 1000 baht on drinks, food, and transportation. We can order drinks & shots individually and split any bottles/mixers.
Here's some do's and don't's:
DO: Dress neatly & smartly. Most clubs don't have a dress code, but shorts & flip-flops are discouraged.
DON'T: Take a car or taxi to Major Ratchayothin, because Phahoyothin Road at that time of night is a parking lot. The BTS has a platform that goes directly into Major. It'll take you about half an hour to get from Siam to Major on the train, or infinity hours to drive there and find parking (good luck with that).
DO: Send me a DM on Reddit or Line to let me know you're coming. I need to make reservations to get a table. It's Saturday night, so some of these places will be jammed.
DO: Stay late! The fun really gets started after bars close, so if you're smoking anything, don't get the stuff that makes you sleepy ;) .
DON'T: Go to the McDonald's in the back part of the Avenue. We're meeting at the McDonald's in the front of Major, near the BTS.
DO: Bring ear protection. These are Thai clubs, trust me, you're going to need it. I find my bluetooth headphones do the job well-enough, but you can always stuff napkins in your ears too ;). We'll mix it up between quiet and loud places, but if you have a preference, let me know now.
DO: Add the Line group. Here's the QR code:

Hope to see you all there. If this goes well, I'll make it a regular thing. Let's explore the city together!
Quick question - anyone know how I can watch TrueVisions on my laptop? I've bought the EPL package and can use it on my phone just fine, but can't work out how to stream on my laptop. Is it possible?
Hi All,
I just started a new subreddit: r/ThaiDIY. The goal here is to have a more focused place for those of us who are DIY'ers in Thailand to ask questions, share advice and relate experiences on DIY projects in Thailand. We'll focus on areas including:
Hopefully we can share where-to-find and how-to-do info for people in Thailand with DIY projects on hand or in the pipe.
I think both English and Thai languages will be fine.
If you'd like to help and be a Mod and maintain this community, please DM and we'll work together on it!
Thanks!

Are there any apps in Thailand specific for personal finance management? I only came across MeowJot: Auto-Track Expenses, but its limited only to tracking transfer slips.
Im looking for the whole solution; bank and credit card transactions.
So the new MacBook pro released alongside some other Apple products. I was wondering if anyone knows around what time they become available in Thailand. I went to the Apple Store but surprisingly they did not have a rough date. Thanks for any input !
