Hey all - We are traveling to this beautiful country and would request an advice from all you good people here..
There is an apartment on Airbnb we liked but we see it very cheaper on another website.. How can we confirm if the website is legit? We have saved for many years to be here with family so just do not want to get scammed.. thank you
Thank you in advance. I will use the general comment section tagged on top for other questions related to travel plan, areas to explore in Hanoi etc.
I am looking to hire someone in Vietnam that can draw plans in the program Revit.
Twenty years after the withdrawal of American troops and the eventual fall of Saigon, the president of the US, Bill Clinton , signed to lift the embargo on Vietnam and restore relations.
Now, I'm wondering if Deng Xiaoping's massive influence and the collapse of the USSR had anything to do with this.
Surely, it seems like as China was growing more powerful, the Americans felt like Vietnam would be a good strategic partner.
Is this it or was there something else happening?
I’m in Ho Chi Minh City right now and I’m struggling to find anyone that sells Diazepam and Tramadol/Codeine/Endone right now.
Others have told me it’s pretty easy to find but I’ve been to about 5 pharmacies in District 1 and I’ve been met with hard no’s.
Any help would be appreciated
Hello!
I just arrived today in Vietnam for my 5-week vacation there (from France) and something really upsetting happen to me at the Tan Son Nhat Airport and I wanted to know if that was really normal and fair. It is also to make sure I will never do the same mistake twice and be completely stupid and not documented on such situations again.
I brought with me as gifts for my VN family some sweets and chocolates for the children and one second-hand vinyl record player (+ some vinyl records with it) as a gift for an uncle. I also had with me a part of my personal stamps collection (perhaps 7-9 albums?) and ended up getting charged 500 dollars of fine penalties because :
Is all of that true? I couldn't find anywhere the precised rules and I can't grasp why the vinyl stuff would be forbidden 👀 The worst part is that I was okay with them keeping the vinyl stuff since I did not know it was forbidden (so my bad) and I bought it very cheap back in my country so I'd rather say goodbye to it and not pay any fees but they told me I'd have to pay a fine anyway (and I kept it in the end after paying 🤔)
Now I'm afraid next time to bring any gifts that would made me pay custom fees again 🙈
Thanks in advance for any insights so I can sleep less stupid tonight... 🙏🏻
I'm not too much of a museum person, so I don't feel like visiting all of them, but I would like to visit one museum about the Vietnam War. Which one do you recommend? :)
Also, are there any other must-visit museums in Vietnam?

Got a free weekend coming up mid VN trip with an extra day or 2 off remote work. Been to or going to Sapa (instead of Ha Giang long story)? Hanoi, Danang, Ninh Binh, Hoi An, Saigon, Hue.
I love nature, food, history, engaging in unique experiences. What would you recommend for something different for a few days? Doesn’t have to tick all boxes :) keen to see more of this beautiful country
hello guys, i plan on travelling to vietnam for the next couple of weeks and i would like your insights. keep in mind that i will be staying both in ho chi minh and hanoi. can i take GRAB from the airport or is it something that is banned? where can i find the best counterfeit northface? where are the best places for shopping generally? can i haggle the price everywhere i shop or only in outdoor markets? i also read that there are places where you can get a custom silk clothing sown for you, so can you suggest a place where i can do this? also, can you suggest some must-eat places? i read that this is rain season which is very hot and humid, what kind of clothing would you suggest? is it going to be raining all the time? has anybody travelled with scoot airlines and could you say anything about that experience?
I'm looking for advice-- A month ago I sent my passport and application for the five year visa exemption to the consulate in San Francisco. (My wife is Vietnamese and we had great service from the consulate 5 years ago.) I have not heard anything back from them and I need my passport back--with or without the visa exemption certificate. I have tried calling, emailing, even faxing--but nothing. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I live in greece and I will be travelling to Vietnam and I want to know where can I get a travel insurance. I don't want to get scammed by paying money to illegal sites.
Hello peeps. I’m flying to Hanoi from BKK on the 29th and meeting some friends there on May 5th. I don’t know if I wish to spend a whole week in Hanoi before he arrives so does anyone have any recommendations of places nearby to Hanoi to visit for a few nights?
I will be going to Ha Long bay and Ninh Binh later in the trip so ideally somewhere else, hopefully closer to Hanoi. Thanks :)
What the title says
Hi guys!
I’m looking for a place in Vietnam where I can see the psychedelic rock gecko!
They’re my favourite animal and I’m determined to see one on my trip, however they’re also one of the rarest reptiles in the world :(
I know that they’re only found in the wild on Hon Khoai island but it’s very inaccessible so I was wondering if there’s any zoos or reptile centres where I could visit them!
I really appreciate any help or recommendations, it’s a bucket list goal to see one 🥰 Thank you!!
I am planning to go to Phnom Penh from Ho Chi Minh in a couple days. So far I have seen a lot of people recommend the Giant Ibis bus for this journey, but it is a lot more expensive than others I’ve found online. Is it worth the extra cost or does anyone have other recommendations?
Hello, I've been staying in Vietnam for two months now. It might be my misunderstanding, but Vietnamese men seem to have a strong pride and don't seem very friendly. On the other hand, the women seem relatively kind. In other words, I'm having some issues with Vietnamese men. What do you think?
I can barely speak Vietnamese but I want to become fluent. Does learning language apps really work? I’m trying to be fluent as fast as possible. I’m in America

Đây là các cách cơ bản do bản thân đúc kết:
Goodluck.
Anyone can explain why it's so accepted in Vietnamese culture? There are unfaithful people in every culture, but at least in many places it's something to be secretive about, your friends will most likely judge you if they find out, whereas in Vietnam it's to be shrugged off, laughed off, bragged about, especially when the cheating is done by men. The justification for staying is usually that you have children with them or it's just the nature of the male sex (wtf). I am Vietnamese and it makes me think morality in this country is very fluid.
Besides Reddit! Do you have any online communities?
Hey there! Tourist here. Got a week-long trip to Vietnam lined up for June. I mentioned it to a friend, and he goes, "Good luck with the heat." Now, being Filipino, I think I'm pretty used to tropical weather and can handle the heat. But since it's my first time there, I'm curious: Is it hotter than the Philippines? And any tips on how to prep for it like clothes to bring, etc?
edit: I'll be staying in Hanoi and then Ninh Binh
