Posting links to advertising or blog spam is not allowed, including youtube travel blogs. Your link should be an interesting event or news piece. Basically something we bangkok ex-pats would be interested in. If you only post your website's blog spam it will be removed. If it's obvious you're a spammer you'll just be banned.
Free expression can only happen when everyone in the community feels empowered to contribute, and behaviors that disempower and silence do more to create an echo chamber than even the heavy-handedest of moderator actions. If you are acting like an asshole to a member of this community, you will be banned.
If someone requests help with a translation do not post joke transcripts.
Please use the month name when posting dates to prevent confusion ("1 feb", "feb 1-4", "february 1" are all fine, "1/2" or "2/1" is not).

We are visiting Bangkok for the first time and will be spending Christmas here! Just wanting any recommendations on what to do for a xmas dinner, or anything in general, have seen a few cruise along the lake buffet type thing. But open to suggestions! Much appreciated!
I’ve been in Bangkok for 5 months and I’m starting to miss playing football and futsal. Any groups I can join to play during the weekend. I’m currently staying around yan nawa area but I don’t mind travelling far just to play.
I'm starting to see this question appear on Facebook and Reddit and it's probably being posted by some of the agencies using sock puppets, but the public should be aware that paying visa agencies to acquire the DTV visa for retirement or digital nomads or anything else is 100% illegal and what you are doing is giving bribes to corrupt Thai Immigration officers who then send back an unofficially approved DTV visa to you...
Eventually the honest IOs take a look at your profile in the system and realize you acquired a fraudulent DTV visa without going through the proper channels (Thai Embassies only) and you will have a big red warning on your name and possibly deported or banned from entry for several years, or worse.
Please get the word out to the newbies in Thailand that this is a great way to lose thousands of dollars and cause yourself grief in the short-term, and to never pay agencies for the DTV visa... best regards
Edit: right on time, a certain "Visa centre" has deployed their sock puppets to down vote this thread
Edit #2 to clarify: agencies are not illegal... they can provide consulting, or help you with papers, or other things, but if you are exchanging $2,000-3,000 cash for a DTV visa that they get out of thin air without any interaction with the official eVisa portal from the Thai government, that is 100% illegal and you are breaking the law, and so is the agency, and so is the corrupt officer that gave them the fraudulent DTV visa on your behalf
Hi guys, I'm looking to know and talk with someone who knows the Thai Market. I work in gaming and for some reason my game kinda exploded there, so I really want to learn what I can do next so I can grow my game further.
If you are one or know anyone, let's talk. Dinner on me!
Don’t really want to stay in Sukhumvit as that seems rather noisy and commercial. This is our first visit to Bangkok.
maybe small stroke / brain bleeding, where can i do a cheap CT/MRT?
Anyone have any epxerience with a company that can sell and set up one of the Intex type pools? Looking to add to our garden. Can't seem to find where to buy them etc.
I am guessing you need to add a filter, pump, perhaps something on the floor - want to see cost and if a company that does this?
I (29M) am legally married to a Thai (24F). We have a stepson (5M) and a newborn son. We are staying in a detached house that we bought under her name. Having watched "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies", I would like to find out if assuming I were to pass away before my wife and she does not have a will, is there any way that in the slightest chance that my stepson can take the property for himself and leave nothing to my newborn son? I do not mind a 50/50 split between them (assuming we do not have any more children) but I'm just worried that due to the infinite possibilities of unforeseen circumstances, my newborn might be cheated out of his inheritance. I actually do not understand how it is possible in the movie that the grandma was able to leave her property to the youngest son when I was under the impression that by inheritance law, it would be evenly distributed amongst the children.
Edit: The comments mentioned making a will but I would just like to check on the possibility that my son gets screwed over for any reason at all (and vice versa) assuming my wife does not gift our marital home to either of them before she passes on too. Of course, she is free to gift whoever she wants if she so wishes to.
Where do lonely JP wives go for a relaxing night out without the husbands ?
Does anyone where I can buy Manila tamarind in Bangkok? I once found a street hawker selling in kanchanaburi. This is my favourite fruit
I'm planning to propose to my boyfriend when I get home. To do that I have to get an engagement ring before boarding the plane.
I'm looking all over the malls for a ring that would fit him. He doesn't like shiny and sparkly and we would much rather spend $2000 dollars on travel than a crazy expensive ring so I would like to stay within a $500 budget. I'd like something more rough/matte and maybe a bit darker without a diamond.
Where can I find something like that? Anything I come across has diamonds or super thin and looks like a women's ring.
Thanks!

Hello friends, are there LAN/PC shops around Phrom Phong? I’m here for a week and would like to play some DOTA 2. Thanks!
I've been in a reflective mood lately, wrestling with the thought that my time spent regularly returning to Bangkok could've been better spent elsewhere. For context. I first visited this part of the world in 2013 on the stereotypical SE Asia backpacking tour. I visited Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia and knew I'd be back in Thailand one day. I still think I'll eventually retire here, although I'm only 34 now so that's a while away yet.
After a year of working in a traditional corporate job in my country, I pivoted to become self-employed. This allowed me to live for a total of about 18 months in Chiang Mai from 2016-2019, where I had a girlfriend.
Then I explored Bangkok for a month before Covid hit and I really liked it. Ever since the restrictions eased in 2022, I've found myself coming back to Bangkok several times each year for 4-8 weeks at a time.
During my visits to Bangkok, I sometimes go to Vietnam or explore a new place in Thailand for a few days, but it's mostly like Bangkok is a second home base for me. I spend my days here living something approximating a normal routine like back home only in a surrounding that I feel more alive in. I visit interesting cafes and work for a few hours, I eat delicious food, I exercise, and I read. Sometimes I'll go check out a new part of the city or new restaurant. I get foot massages and Thai massages several times per week.
But when I contemplate the size of the world, or even just the size of this part of the world it's like I'm sacrificing a lot just to travel to where I feel comfortable and content. I love the food in Bangkok (and Thailand in general), I can train muay Thai cheaply, the coffee is amazing, massages are a God send for someone who spends hours per day working on a laptop.
I don't have tons of friends here, but I've made some really interesting transient connections over a few beers. Dating-wise, I'm not that into one-night stands so I tend to be in relationships here.
But by never seeing places like the Philippines, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan I feel like the average person on a 6-month gap year experiences more novelty than I have in years of travel. Often when I bump into people passing through Bangkok I'm staggered at the number of countries they've visited in their lives and I compare myself to that. I am starting to wonder if I'm wasting what is clearly a privileged position to be able to travel this much. I guess I'm half venting and half looking for opinions on what I've written.
Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a school where my Thai friend could learn English. Basic grammar, pronunciation and writing and speaking capabilities would be great.
Thanks
This is in reference to my other post where I was initially planning on planning my proposal in Benchakitti Park and after multiple folks saying it's a bad idea, I have decided to refrain from it and go with the idea of doing it on a rooftop.
However it's quite intimidating to decide on one especially with the amount of wide range options Bangkok has. Can you all please share a couple you think might be good. Again a good scenic view/vibe and privacy is a must followed by a good dinner.
Thank you very much in advance and I will really appreciate all the help 🙏
Hello!
We will be traveling in Bangkok in December and I am planning to propose! Ideally I would like to do it in a private setting with a panoramic view of Bangkok where we can sit down, have a glass of champagne etc. Initially I booked a suite and the Tower Club Lebua, but they have informed me via Booking now that due to Safety reasons they won’t allow us to have any chairs or a table in the balcony. I also tried looking on Airbnbs and there are some nice apartments with balconies with panoramic view, but I read that airbnbs are illegal and I don’t want to ruin such occasion by getting us into trouble.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Any other hotels that would give me what I want or any other recommendations? Privacy is very important because my girlfriend is a shy person and I want this moment to be just for us. Also I might be able to film it if I can place my phone somewhere nearby.
I am waiting some funny stories of power outage experiences at bkk tonight.. Anyone inside elevator? Even 5 star hotel is blacked out and how people are doing now.
Are there any Jewelleries you can recommend ? I am particularly looking for a good quality set of earrings in yellow gold or white gold
I want to sell some of my in ear monitors and true wireless earbuds as I have too many and I don't use some of them as much anymore. Anyone knows if there is a shop that buys such things? Or online secondhand market place?
Hi everyone, can you please recommend the best Gastroenterologists in Bangkok? (Doctor name). Thank you
there are so many, help me
Staying in the area, and got a craving for these little snacks I remember from Koh Phangan in the ‘90s. Veg, chicken or whatever. All tips, also other areas are welcome.
Hi there, I am looking for recommendations on tailors who work with the very best premium fabrics for suits and shirts. I wouldn’t mind t-shirts either. Ideally, I’m looking for options that are both high-quality (thinking Zegna, Loro Piana) and sustainably sourced (fair trade if possible). Price is secondary to quality. More than happy to use regionally sourced fabrics. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
An old family friend will be staying near saphan thaksin and I'd like to be able to hang out and talk with her while the kids play in a safe place. They are nursery / preschool age. Any ideas?
