If you're here, you're likely planning a visit, looking for information about visiting, have already visited or live in Thailand. That's what this is here for.
This sub is for all things tourist and Thailand, including: Questions about coming to Thailand (trip itineraries, tickets, visas etc.,); Things to do in Thailand (activities, transport, hotels, events); and Trip reviews and personal accounts of your time touring this great country.
Please note that while the subscribers here are happy to try to help you, please read the following, it makes it easier for us, and easier for you in getting prompt and helpful replies.
Please do yourself a favour by trying to do a little research on your own. The best answers you will get from a resource like this, will come from questions that are more specific than not. There are literally thousands of things to do in Thailand, so, simply asking something like "what should I do," won't help you get a good answer, and won't help us formulate one... be as specific as you can.

I have basically tried everything but nothing works and the issue persists. Are you guys experiencing this aswell or someone who knows how to fix it?
I have about 2 weeks in January to travel around one of the two options, which one should I choose? I'm into everything - nature, cultural and historical attractions, as well as drinking, nightlife etc. But I guess I should stay in the quiet areas of each island if I wanna get away from people, and just drive to the party areas at night? Would also like to try diving for the first time.
If anyone can break down the 14 days into how many on each island that would be great!
Me and my partner are moving to Thailand. I’ve lived in Thailand and thought it was perfectly safe as a male, but i’m aware we’re also immune to the same issues a women might have.
So just want to ask, is there anything a woman needs to be cautious of in Thailand that a guy like me won’t have experienced? Just want to look out for her and keep her as informed as possible for when she’s out alone
Im looking to stay in Thailand for 2 weeks this November and im looking for a good Hotel in BKK and Krabi.
I was looking at Hotels between 30-60€ per night so if you have any good recommodation that would be appreciated.
For these im mostly looking to relax and see some sight and food so no need for party in the area.
Hi all,
I’m currently planning a 6-month trip to Thailand. I was looking to arrive in March and stay in Chian Mai for 3 months. Then do a trip to Australia for a few weeks (to see friends) and return to Thailand for another 3 months but head south, maybe Phuket or the islands.
We are looking to immerse ourselves in the culture as much as possible. My ideas are language courses, Buddhism teachings, yoga courses, muy Thai classes, dance classes etc. As well as other child-friendly activities.
How easy are these available for foreigners? Does anyone know where to look for classes like that? Search engines, Facebook or are there any other platforms that make more sense? Are Chiang Mai and Phuket good choices? I have done some research and have heard good things, but I was hoping that maybe I could get some more Info here. I have been to Thailand several times and love the country and people and I can't wait to show my daughter. What apps would be great to download before? Are there any good language teaching apps, so we can start learning already? Where can I find apartments? Is there anything important to know when renting in Thailand as a foreigner? Any insurance that I should have (apart from medical of course)?
I think that's all for now. Anyway, maybe some of you have done a trip like this before and have learned things they want to share. 😊 Thank you so much for your help in advance.
Just arrived in Pattaya does anyone know of somewhere that offers massages and Does anyone know of a bar with a pool table ??
I’ve been to Thailand around 5 times before Covid and once last year to places like Pattaya Bangkok and Phuket. I’m a non smoker and first time I feel like wherever I go, there’s cigarette and grass smoke all over especially while walking on the pavement can’t feel the fresh air or cool breeze. I wonder if it’s just me.
You know the people who ask you to go to go to a fight match or on a tour, get a suit etc. I have tried saying no, saying no thank you - repeatedly, shouting no, tried completely ignoring, tried taking photos of them, tried walking very fast, very slow etc the only thing that seems to make them fuck off is buy entering a restaurant or hotel etc.
Honestly worst part of Thailand is scammers who follow you around!
Hello guys,
Currently in Koh lanta since 5 days and oh god this island is very nice, chill, easy to ride scooter, we did the 4 island trip, it was ok, tomorrow going for Koh Rok trip
Then we don't really know where to go before reaching kao sok national park and then BKK.
I am reading about AO nang, Koh yao noi, railay.
Any recommendations? We are not in rush and have unlimited time. (5months trip around SEA)
Of going to AO nang where to sleep to not break the bank, I see a lot of people giving railay but looks a little off budget for us.
Thanks a lot for
Hi there,
I am considering a 6 month multi entry visa for Thailand. I just saw that I can extend it with another 30 days after being in the country for 60 days or otherwise I have to leave the country every 60 days. Does anyone have experience with this visa? And how did you use it?
Hi guys
Happy to see the announcement for the excursion train last week
However, I have problem looking for ticket from D Ticket app for my 14 Dec trip
It says NO DATA FOUND for departure set as BANGKOK and then I saw express train services only for departure from KRUNG THEP APHIWAT
I tried searching for it from 12goasia, result come back as train 75 which seems to be the express train as seen on D DRT
Any help please
Hey guys I'm looking for recommendations based on this itinerary as a solo traveler. Should I cut here anything or should I add anything else?
Soo, In Thailand for about 10 days. I’ve been to the night market which was fun, explored Cha am. Not a lot to really do in Cha am, though. (Ozone pub was shockingly bad, lol.) Went to Hua Hin, around the monkey mountain place. Didn’t reallyyy like it too much, did I just go to the wrong part of Hua Hin??? What should I do for the rest of the 8 days? Island tours? Bangkok?
Is it even possible or worth it to go on an island tour and not get wet. For example, we would just walk on the beaches.
I noticed people getting soaked jumping off long boats. My girlfriend didn't bring a swim suit and all I have is shorts.
If sonetkpjg like this exists, please leave recommendations.
Thank you
Hi everyone! I am in Thailand now and wanting to go to some islands in the south of Thailand from Nov 5-10. I have noticed that the weather app hadn’t accurately been predicting weather, and was wondering if anyone knows how to see if there will actually be rain those days? Or if it’s still worth it to go? Thank you in advance!
I have an evisa to Thailand. From what I gather, it should give me 60 days in Thailand. But I have a ticket back home with me, just in case I get asked for proof of onward ticket (I plan to cancel it later), that's around 2 weeks from the day I enter. Will the close date of my return ticket affect my visa duration and prevent me from staying the full 60? Or does it not matter?
Hello, wonderful people of Thailand!
I recently visited Ayutthaya and found myself curious about the cultural and historical connections between Thailand and India. Beyond the similarity in names—Ayutthaya and Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri Ram—I didn’t immediately notice other significant connections. I understand there’s a shared Buddhist heritage, but that's a common link across much of Southeast Asia.
Are there any Thai history buffs here who could share insights on deeper historical or cultural ties? I'd love to scratch this curiosity itch and learn more!
Hey all -
Can’t find the information I need. Basically I’m in Krabi and would like to do some lead climbing. My wife doesn’t lead climb but she does top rope.
Curious about a few things:
Hi everyone!
The last time I was flying to Thailand I had two separate tickets, one from Qatar to Bangkok and the other one with Aeroflot from Bangkok, can't be sure if airlines asked for proof of onward journey as this was almost 8 years ago. Has anything changed? I am planning to fly to Bangkok with IndiGo from Budapest and fly out with another airline (separate ticket) from Bangkok or another country. I will also have onward ticket from Thailand to wherever I decide to go. If IndiGo asks, will this be sufficient as a proof of onward trave to have ticket out of Thailand with another airline?
I ask because sometimes i'm not able to understand what thwy say, i know english is not a primary language here.
What other letters or syllables are a littlw different in Thai, i ask so that i can understand them better.
The last few times I was in Thailand I found it frustrating that local payment QR codes in smaller businesses did not work with my banking 😢.
I have since came across a YouTuber who recommended JamJang App which is a wallet you can top up from your international bank which allows you to make payments via the QR Codes in shops and small businesses…
My question is, is it reliable and trustworthy?
Hi all,
Me (26m) and my fiancé (26f) are looking for suggestions on things to do around Jomtien Beach or good restaurant recommendations.
We don’t drink (or smoke) and are very easy on the restaurants. We don’t have a crazy budget so big adventures aren’t on the cards and since this is the last 7 of 70 days travelling we quite fancy relaxing.
Any good coffee spots, walks, sights to see would be greatly appreciated!
Am looking to buy a good quality leather backpack when I go to BKK this December. I want to use it for work so it should fit my laptop, charger, wallet, etc. with extra room for a set of clothes for days I go to the gym after office.
Any brands you can suggest?
Hi guys!
Me and 2 other friends (N and B) are going to Thailand from Europe from the 06.01-24.01, B is staying longer until the 27.01 as his dad and dad's friend are also coming with us.
Now the third friend B has never been so far away from home and he wants to have his dad the first few days we are there so he can help us as he has a lot of expirience in Thailand but he is going to Pattaya, so far no problem, I know for what Pattaya is, not my type of city but ok it's nice to have a starting guide for the first few days, my suggestion was to stay as a group of 3 in Pattaya until the 15th/16th January, around 10 days so we can drive to Bangkok and take a flight to at least Phuket.
For me and my other friend it would be absolutely fine to stay from the 15th to the 23rd and fly back to Bangkok on the 24th and our friend goes back to his dad's in Pattaya to stay for another 3 days.
Now the problem is that (B) wants to fly on the 18th so that he has "enough time to relax and chill in Pattaya instead of running from place to place" but this leaves me and the other friend with only 3 full days to explore Phuket as we lose the 18th and 23rd to flying and packing.
He doesn't understand that 10 days in Pattaya is enough to see a bit and that we should instead focus on visiting more of Thailand (ONLY 1 MORE CITY) as the trip will be expensive. (3k+€ p.p)
What do you guys think about that? How can I convince my friend that it is ok to stay only 10 days in Pattaya?
Please suggest what to do at international airport , any good massages? Any places nearby i can go visit ?
Hi, I will be solo travelling (35F) in Thailand next March. I will have 2 weeks, the first one spent in Bankgok * Chiang Mai and the next one I would like to go to an island from Chiang Mai. I enjoy nature, beaches, good food and I would like to relax - possibly travelling easy around the island. Where shall I head between Kho Phangan and Phuket? Both seems fine as for the weather in March, but which one do you think would be best fit according to what I look for?
Thank you!
I'm 23 M, I'll be visiting thailand for the first time alone for a month and might extend if I like it and the myth of "THE CRAZIEST NIGHT OF YOUR LIFE" is true :D
1st week I'll be exploring the culture (might rent me a tour women to show me around so i don't get lost) explore their culture, food, famous places, restaurants, beaches... etc
ps; I'll be staying in Bangkok
2nd week and onwards, Ill be visiting their night life or what they call the soi street and bars, drink and have a chatty chat with the girls there, invite them to my hotel and so on. (I will be drinking responsibly and will never go fully drunk since im alone)
The REAL QUESTION do these girls get tested every now and then?
Does the owner of those bars take good care of the employees medical health?
Since im there, I might as-well hookup with a bar ladyboy fuck it why not, do they get themselves tested? Will they allow me to pay for them to be tested or will that be a dick move, and myself will get tested with them? ps; I always get tested and never in my life got any STDS and I always wear condom but I heard a guy once say, condoms is not enough here lol
I dont want the "THE CRAZIEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE" turn into "THE WORST DAYS OF MY LIFE", and catch myself an STD, I would appreciate the people who have been bawling in thailand for a long time share their honest experience of safe precaution on those streets. One more thing, Is there a high class VVIP location or trusted agency for hookups? wouldn't mind if its more expensive than bargirl/ladyboys.
Hi all, so I've been in Thailand for a week (2 nights BKK, 3 nights Ranong) and feeling lost as what to do.
I find moving around to different place to stay each day/night a bit tiring. I've heard its more affordable to just rent a place for a few weeks / a month? I'd also like to just find a nice place and relax there rather than always planning the next trip and travelling.
I'm in Ranong at the moment and it's nice. I'm planning a trip to Ko Phayam and will stay there a few days but heard food there is expensive.
I'm mainly looking for a chilled out spot near a beach where I can do yoga/workout and enjoy a sunset near nature.
What do you recommend?
