Cutting back vs just letting them be

Hi everyone, I got a question for the seasoned growers out here. I have a variety of chili growing on my balcony in Japan and it finally got so cold that almost all of them are throwing their leaves off. So I’ve been thinking if I should cut them back a bit or just let them be. Are there any advantages or downsides to any of the options?

At least in my mind, letting them be would give them the maximum starting position, while cutting back would require them to first make some new (non flower) growth first, which takes time and energy.

Am I thinking about this the wrong way?

Got my germinated pepper seeds in egg cartons (homemade seed starter tray) on a heating mat.... question, and maybe a dumb one. When they start popping out of the soil do I put my grow light on them immediately, and what if they start popping through at different times?

How to prevent bud drop?

I started a few chili pepper plants from seeds in February. They’ve been under a grow light inside and all started producing buds last month. Now, about a month later, the buds are turning yellow and dropping off.

I’m wondering why it’s happening and how to stop it.

Can I cook sauce in cast aluminum pot?

I’ve read to never cook acidic foods (hot sauce) in aluminum cookware due to food discolouration and taste (nevermind the “health risks”)

What about cast aluminum? I will be cooking lots of sauce and don’t want to ruin the magical creations.

New to super hots. In need of advice.

I made my first attempt at growing ghost peppers last season with no luck as the seeds never germinated, but I’ve read germination can range from 30 to 100 days. It’s that true? I waited around 40 days before abandoning the seeds. Also, when should I start germinating my seeds for the 2021 season? My growing season is from late May until mid to late October.

Do seeds go bad?

Preface: I've never grown a pepper plant. Also this is a double question actually. I have a bunch of what I believe are bird's eye chili seeds my dad gave me (from his garden) but my first experiment a few years ago didn't take (I was trying to grow them on a window sill indoors). I still have the rest of the seeds but don't know what to do with them or where to pot/plant them--I do have a lot more outdoor options now (new house). It's probably too late to plant them based upon what I do know, but I'm in FL so not sure since we'll have humidity and heat for the next 3 months at least. Just curious because I'm trying to find something to do with my time during the covid fiasco.

Hawaiian Chili Indoor Issue?

I have a rather large Hawaiian Chili potted indoor, I live in Idaho where it freezes so can’t plant outside. It’s gotten rather large. Currently, it is not producing any fruits but grows fairly well producing plenty of new leaves but sometimes groups of leaves yellow and die. I found this happens when I move it outdoor for a week or so, so then I bring it back in.

It produced about 30-40 peppers between oct-Jan last year when it was much, much smaller and now not even little flower bulbs where the peppers would come out.

Is this common for primarily indoor peppers to stop producing for some time or is there some other potential issue someone may know of?

Are there any recommended "starter kits" for hot peppers out there?

As the title says, looking for a starter kit I can use as a learning experience as I research and learn more about growing at my own pace. Also, the hotter the peppers the better! Thanks in advance.

Need advice/help

Growing 8 peppers started same time, all hot/super hot in same size pots outdoors, do I need to trim leafs? My Congo gabs are bushy not no pods just flowers that drop but tons of leaf, my scorpions are a bit bigger but are having 2 nice size pods, ghost are great and 7 pot has more pods and no little leafs, naga viper growing tall but big pods, my scotch bonnets lots of growth and flowers yet no peppers,

Guess I’m trying to use rookie logic and wonder if I need to cut leaves off and how or what I need to do.

I don’t have a green thumb obviously but really looking forward to these peppers yielding

Basically anyone know how to trim and what I need to do?
