8 Scotch Bonnet, 8 Chocolate Habanero, 4 Habanero, 8 Jalapenos and then my tomatoes. Hoping I didn't get Pepper Joed, saw their reviews after getting the seeds. Finally picked up a grow light and look forward to hopefully giving my plants a good headstart before going outdoors. Past 2 years haven't gotten any ripe habaneros so figured I would give it a go. Probably going to pick another up and try growing some indoors as well.
I picked up Jalapenos for garnish in pho, along with some Habeneros. Given that part of the appeal to the garnishes in pho is that the peppers are crisp I wanted fresh rather than pulling from what I grew last year and froze...
It would be one think if they were just mild in spice, but they don't even have that distinct jalapeno taste anymore, they taste more like green bell peppers...
and the habaneros taste like slightly pepper flavored wax, the closest I could describe it to is when I grew chinese five color peppers, they taste just like them now, again lacking the vibrant flavor habeneros are known for. If the goal of these peppers that are GMO'd was to retain the flavor and lower the heat content and be disease resistant etc... they have failed.
So is there anywhere to get fresh peppers with actual flavor and some heat again? Any brands people are looking for in packaged peppers, anywhere to order online? Or am I doomed to only enjoy peppers when they are in season. And any tips on keeping fresh peppers around longer? If the threat of layoffs wasn't looming over my industry and in particular my job currently, I would straight up invest in a heated green house to grow peppers in year round complete with lamps, air movement, and heat.
I know it will definitely be overcrowded and I’ll have to give away half but I still wanted to plant extra, better safe than sorry
I removed my humidity dome to check moisture levels and not even 2 weeks after planting there's 6 reapers and 2 red devils popping up! Pretty excited! Time for the lights
I have this naga plant. I boughed it last spring and had it outside in a pot during summer. It grew ok and made some peppers, hot and spicy. I moved it inside when it got cold. I have had a light with timer for it the whole time inside. It keeps flowering and producing a few peppers. Recently it has started to grow really wide. It is like over 1 meter width now, a few branches keep growing sideways crazy fast. Leaves in brances are light green, not enough kight for them, but it still keeps spreading out. Should I cut these branches that grow super wide or let it be? Fertilize more or less? It started this different growth about a month ago. It basically got crazy, i think it wants to go see my tv real closely, lol. I can't move it outside for months, too cold here at north. So should I cut branches or not?
My new pepper seedlings are starting to come on nicely, but I'm noticing some tiny brown and yellow spots appearing on the leaves, which is alarming considering how young and fresh they are. I'm hoping you lovely lot can help me figure out what the cause might be.
They're currently growing in 50/50 coco/perlite. I rehydrated the coco with a 1.5x dose of GT CalMag, and it apparently has a 5-5-5 NPK fertiliser in it already.
I've been bottom watering when the substrate in the cells when it gets a bit dry, and using half strength GT Pepper Focus each time to try and guarantee they've got what they need, with the coco being relatively inert.
They're on heat mats at a constant 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, and get 16 hours of light a day from a pair of 1800 lumen 6500K LED strips a couple of inches overhead. The room has a natural little bit of air movement and is usually a bit cold, but these cell trays are on some bookshelves I converted into a grow station and tucked in the corner, so they're well away from any strong drafts and in a pretty stable environment.
What do you think the issue could be?
I'm guessing either over or under fertilising, but I'm not sure how to tell. The leaves look a tad more epale than I'd ideally like to see, but the roots are definitely developing nicely.
The varieties are pretty much all a bunch of habaneros and some sugar rush stripeys, if that of any relevance.

Hey everyone, I just came back from a short trip and my roommate forgot / underwaterd my seedlings. Any chance of the coming back? I thoroughly bottom watered them. Feeling kind of defeated right now
Just ordered a boatload of hot peppers that I will not only grow in raised beds but may just border the entire house. If these grow well, it's going to be a phenomenal year!
I know peppers take forever to germinate but the wait is equal parts annoying and exciting.
This morning I noticed my 1st (and only) super hot popped up! It’s a 7 pot brain strain red and it germinated in 6 days, planted on Monday Jan. 27. Seed from white hot peppers. I didn’t soak or use the paper towel method.
Just wanted to share because I am very excited and I needed to tell someone other than my kids who just glanced at it with the same expression on their face that I used to have when my grandad showed me his “cool” stamps.
Complete noob here. These are Cayenne peppers seedlings. Am I supposed to remove the small ones so the bigger ones can grow better and can be transplanted easily? Thanks in advance!
I live in Casablanca, Morocco, and planted this from seed in late November since we have warm Mediterranean climate all year (equivalent to zone 10a I believe) growth was slow and after a while it stopped growing and now I’m noticing it’s growing flowers which I found odd given that it didn’t surpass 20cm in length yet. What am I doing wrong?
Everything looking great for now. Time to upsize the pots.

Eight days ago, I planted two batches of Carolina Reaper seeds. One batch came from a fresh plant, which I planted 0.5 cm deep, and they have all germinated. The other batch, which I bought online, may have been planted a bit too deep—around 2 cm. Since this is my first time growing them, I’d love to hear your suggestions. What do you guys recommend? The growing condition’s are optimal
Does anybody have experience shipping live pepper seedlings? Are there USPS or USDA restrictions on when/how you can send them?
So this is actually 2 plants started from same seed from Publix red habanero. The dark green ripen to orange, the lighter ones I imagine will ripen to white or yellow?
I grew a small Lemon Spice Jalapeno from Sandia Seeds. When I looked up the variety, there were no sources that put it above the typical heat level of a regular Jalapeno. Sandia has the pepper advertised at 30K and the peppers that came off of this plant are significantly hotter than any jalapeno that I've ever eaten.
So, who do I trust on this one?
Excited for 2025. Summer is coming. Found a recommendation for Texas peppers and their prices were great. Excited to try the chocolates. My 4 year old plant died this winter so onto new varieties.
