I have a Nook color, did the software update, havent been able to complete the new setup process since. The device keeps saying it can't connect to my wiFi. Took it to a local B&N, they worked on it, couldn't get it connected. I have hundreds of books on this thing, can buy a new device to access them, but wanted to see fi anyone here was aware of a solution.

my nook has never been my main driver. by the time i got it i already had a handmedown cell phone that ran angry birds faster. its shuffled hands around my family, but its always found its way back to me, amazingly unbroken
for whatever reason it sticks with me. maybe its the old chunky form factor or the clicky home button or just nostalgia. ive kept it around and a while ago i got it working despite all odds. i wouldn't bet 10 cence on the security or reliability of it but its nice
ive picked it up again, im crawling a gba emulator to play old games on and occasionally as a pdf viewer or mp3 player. i dont know why or what ill do with it in the future, and eventually it will unfortunately crap out. it is going on 12 years old
this spring ive been getting back into a lot of nostalgia. listening to old music and playing old games. the newee android appearance is definetly cleaner and better in some ways, but i miss the old programmer ui with hard hard corners and exposed options, where every other window made u spin ur device, even just the old icon theme. weather its the times or just my age idk. but this trusty 8 inch device has served its time well
I've been trying to install a custom ROM (old cyanogenmods or lineage) on a Nook Color, and I worry I messed something up. The install process (from the SD card, using either TWRP or CWM) always stops after "verifying partition sizes." Seems like something's screwed up on the partition. Is there a way to somehow start fresh? Or any other ideas? Thank you in advance. This has been driving me nuts, and I'm really stuck.

Let's do it! I got a nook color to play with. :) It's at 1.4.4.
Has anyone successfully side loaded the Barnes and Nobles APK for 1.4.4. I can't say HOW MANY times I have tried side loading. I've been out to BN help page, contacted BN customer service followed All the recommendations and the bugger still will not load.
Any ideas would be helpful. I would upgrade to something else BUT this was a birthday present from my wife some years ago.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
I work for a school district and we are still using the old nook color devices. I'm having trouble with some of them interfacing with the BnN store and I thin it's because it's on firmware 1.2 instead of the newest firmware. (I have a few devices on the newest firmware and they work fine) It won't auto-update though so I want to manually update, but I can't find the update anywhere. Does anyone have a link I could follow to get it? Thanks for any help.
I have a Nook Color from my work (public elementary school) that got reset recently. Normally it will download the books that are bought for it. Right now it doesn't download books and eventually says it can't connect to the library. It tries to help me connect to wifi, but I'm already connected to wifi. To check this I opened the web browser and could go to whatever websites I tried. I thought the school firewall might have changed to block it so I took it to my house and connected but it's saying the same thing. Was the library shut down for this device because it's so old? Let me know any sets to try to help troubleshoot it. Thanks!!
Well the last post here was nearly a year ago so I'm not sure I'll find help but here goes. My girlfriend bought one of these for our nephew to run a coloring app he likes. I'm sure you guys realize the problem with this. Is there any way at all to load apps onto this? I don't need a fancy OS and it won't be expected to run next gen stuff. I just need a color by numbers app
Everything seems to be 3 years old, links no longer work for builds. I created a boot sd card for Honeycomb, but found it to be archaic and useless. I'd like to do the same for a more modern OS that can get web access, play media, etc.
Now that cyanogenmod is discontinued, what fun OS would you recommend to try out on a Nook Color?
My Nook Color no longer holds a charge anymore and seems to be at the end of its life, regardless of whatever rom I install on it.
Instead of tossing it, I wonder if it would be possible to take it apart and use the screen as a possible monitor for a raspberry pi I have laying around.
Does anybody have any knowledge about the screen and its usage outside of the Nook Color? Would any of this be worth the effort?
Any information would be helpful!
Does anybody know the wifi RF transmitter power output of a nook color (BNRV200)?
I want to sell my Nook Color since I don't use it as often anymore since I don't have internet access anymore, so I was wondering how much I could get for it. It also has a cover(?).
Not much hope of getting this answered, but I am having a hell of a time getting google play services working on my Nook. I have been rooted since the damn thing came out back in 2010, and have updated multiple times as new roms have been released. Well, I have recently dug it back out and thought I would see what was available, and installed a CM 11 nightly. Looks great, seems to run smooth, and I was very happy.
Unfortunately, I cannot get my google apps to work. I have downloaded and installed multiple versions, and multiple versions of CM 11 and 10, but nothing is wanting to work for me.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks.
I've searched and found countless [old] threads on how to revert back to stock and I'm only finding threads with missing files.
I'm currently stuck with what seems to be two busted Micro SD cards.
I've downloaded WinImage and Win32DiskImager to try and get CWM-6.0.1.2-bootable_SD.img onto one of the Micro SD cards. Each time I try I get the same error "Error 21: Device not ready" on both programs.
I currently have Cyanoboot on Nook Color and since I've messed up my MicroSD cards I can't boot into anything so my Nook is useless.
I really hope someone can shed some light on my problem as I just want to read some books on my Nook again.
Thanks for anyone that is willing, and able to help!
Hey! So, I recently wanted to expand my NookColor's limitations to things like manga, and a better view layout. I do have an microSD card with enough space.
I installed CWM onto my microSD card without a problem. When I inserted it into the device, I had no idea wtf to do. There were several options like "install .zip" and what not, however there was nothing to show that my device had been fully unlocked. I rebooted and there were no changes whatsoever. I was frustrated at this point and decided that I needed to wipe the device and the microSD card, since the root was going nowhere. The device went into a bricklike state, and was reversed with a hard-reboot on the computer.
I really want to make this work - What am I supposed to do?
I'm trying to run Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery on my Nook Color but I can't get past the load screen. Does anyone know of any configuration tips that will let it run it?
If not, does anyone know of an earlier CM version that WILL run it?
Someone I know is selling their new Nook Color (only used a few times) for $30. Is a Nook Color still worth it or is it outdated now?
How is CM 11 lag vs. CM 10 on the NC?
I liked CM 7 and am currently on CM 10 for the greater app availability. The awesome keyboard on 7.2.0 is really making me want to go back to it for that alone. How's CM 11 been, for any NC users who are running it? Thanks in advance!
Hello r/nookcolor;
I recently got a new tablet and so have decided to give my Nook Color to my grandmother as her current ereader is ancient and starting to die, and my NC is in great shape despite being a few years old.
However, when I go into the Settings and press the Erase and Deregister Device button, I continually get an error that says:
"You are currently not connected to the network. Network connectivity is required to deregister this device."
It obviously is connected to the network as it grabbed my emails at its earliest opportunity. Can anyone give me some tips (yes, I have turned it off and on again - a few times!) or give me a different way to factory reset it?
Thank you kind people!
Edited to add: She's a stock NC, never been rooted. Also, I tried searching but came up dry, and I apologize but I couldn't find anything in the FAQ - so if I missed something, please direct me to it!
I boot up the nook color and hold down the n key for the menu, and choose "internal emmc recovery" at which point it just shows "loading recovery from emmc..." until I power off the NC.
I've tried the 3 finger salute method of 8 reboots to restore to stock, but nothing's happened there. I probably just haven't done it quite right yet, as sometimes it doesn't power off right away and I have to hit the power button twice.
At this point it's not even booting into android at all any more. Somehow on my latest install I either didn't install gapps, or it was removed, but in any case it was missing, which is why I was trying to get into the recovery altogether. At this point I just want to turn the thing into an alarm clock but can't do anything without a functioning recovery.
Would a bootable SD card work at this point?
I've been using CM11 for a few days now and figured I would start a thread and share some of what I have learned in one place. Certainly this is an older device with a limited user base, but there are still some of us out here looking to get every last bit of usage out of this device that we can. That said:

Do you wish Chrome wouldn't stutter while scrolling on your Nook Color with CM11 installed but can't figure out how to get it to stop? Enter chrome://flags/ in the address bar and enable "delegated renderer" (use the find it in page feature to get to it quickly)

Questions I had before installing CM11 (coming from CM10.2):
Q: Will it open the Amazon Kindle app quickly?
A: Maybe by a few seconds. It still takes about a minute, but works fine once open
Q: Will it run Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery? A: No...at least not beyond the initial loading screen, and we all know that doesn't count.
Q: Will it run Flappy Bird at a decent frame rate? A: No, and why on earth would you want it to?
Q: Is it any faster than CM10.2? A: Maybe, but not by much if it is. Still sluggish compared to modern devices, but not bad for light duty
Q: Will this improve the battery life? A: Not sure yet. It seems to be doing better, but I haven't run it all the way down yet. I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic
Q: Will it stream movies? A: Depends. Do you like jittery video?
These are just a few things I have discovered in a few days of messing around with this old standby. I have yet to determine if CM11 will improve my love life or withstand high levels of radiation, but will update this thread as soon as I know.
