I'm currently looking around for a new job. I have experience with fine dining and I'm looking to get back into that, or something similar.
I'm mainly looking for places where I can learn and be exposed by other cooks that want the same.
Doesn't have to be coursed out, high class experience. For example, Pig and the Lady is a bit more casual, but you can tell that the food they serve has a lot of care and preparation put into it.
Also, i'd prefer to stay in town.
Maybe nami kaze? Bar maze? leila? idk. Welcome to any and all recommendations.
Hi! I’m interviewing with Hawaiian Air to be a flight attendant. Does anyone have any interview tips specific to this role in this company to move forward successfully and land the role?
you feel that? woah scary honolulu/makiki
So I've been in the market to buy a townhome or condo for what feels like forever, because its just me, I am limited to my income and savings. I finally have the down payment and can fit monthly payments into my budget but now the insurance issue...
I qualify for the payments and the loans but the buildings now are becoming ineligible for loans because of the gap in insurance. Not to mention HOAs are skyrocketing which would move things from affordable to not affordable for me. Is there really any evidence or hope this insurance going to get better? Maybe a little bit of this is a rant, maybe a little bit is looking for some hope but I feel like I have exhausted my resources to stay in Hawaii, which is where I was born and raised. I am also getting tired in saving for a goal that feels like it just moves further and further away.
Wanna buy a Prius prime, but no dealership on island has any inventory. Anyone ordered a Toyota that needed to be shipped, and around how long did it take? Mahalo!
My father has recently passed. We're trying to get my mother out & about. Any suggestions for a safe walking path? Nothing on the windward side, it's a beautiful out there, but too far Mahalo in advance
Basically I'm in hilo hawaii and I went to a astrologer that I went to previously and she mentioned being in a family or something that they raise the children with spirituality till they are 8 and then she didn't mention much about it after besides her telling me "give me a call when you want to have babies i can teach you" and it didn't sound like she was implying sex? I'm really interested in learing more about this "family/cult". If anyone knows. Update: I ran into the woman again and she told me it was father yod who she follows and gave me the book. Thank you everyone for helping!!! Also for clarification, I'm not joining this cult I just love learning about weirdness.
Does anyone else feel like Kaiser is intentionally making it extra hard for people to get mental health appointments? You have to;
I know the last two points are because of understaffing, but that's entirely Kaiser's fault as well.
It just feels like they want people to give up and not even try. Especially since this is for mental health, so the people having to make these appointments are more likely to avoid a long tasks.
And before you ask, yes I'm currently on hold trying to settings up an appointment, just needed to vent because this is ridiculous.
Hi! I’m on Maui and UH Maui offers limited associates and bachelors degree. I plan to apply for college in Oahu, probably for Political Science/Paralegal or Information Tech degree.
However, I’m thinking of fixing my schedule so I only have classes 2-3 times a week then flying to Oahu each time I have classes. Is this better or should I move to Oahu? I tried to find online classes but couldn’t find any.
I am on a budget so I think spending 100-140 dollars on roundtrip tickets is better than moving there completely since I would have to pay for housing, food, and transportation and find another job.
Also, which university is the best for these kind of courses?
Does anybody know the story with the small fenced off park at the Bella Vista Reservoir on Prospect Street near Punchbowl?
Wonder if he forgot he had a dumpster up there?
Im from maui do you know where to buy lithium camera batteries? Ive been looking everywhere and it seems i cant find any vendors to ship overseas.
What are some local kine desserts I could make for a get together? This past Thanksgiving I made Jello cream cheese squares from Foodland’s recipe.
I haven’t been to a big family party in so long where they’d all make their homemade family recipes and I feel like I’ve forgotten all the good stuff.
What’s your faves?
I'm a fiber user. And I've been getting like 5mbps down. Anyone else feeling it, or am I being punished for talking story with the spectrum guy that was going door to door?
I liked the cloud patterns today
I’m live here on Oahu and usually uber. I’m looking to rent a car while family is in town! If anyone has recommendations for a rental please lmk!
Just curious! I like use kikoman for my marinades but use Aloha on my rice.
Non Hawaiian here don't plan to go to Hawaii anytime soon it's just really far. I was wondering if anyone has thought of trying to achieve this feat before it's 30 miles in open water so a very experienced swimmer would have a hard time but I don't think it would be impossible. What do you think?
all opinions and ideas as well as scenarios are welcome however, please be respectful to each other and have open minds. this is a post so people can collaborate on this "what if" situation.
The rates should be high during the day since residential and businesses are using energy, and less at night when most businesses are closed. The amount of energy used by residents has to be way less than commercial business.
Howzit. I grew up on my Auntie's chicken ala king. Plus cousins, mothers, sisters brothers, etc. Not the regular kind, but the "local" kind (i.e. local chili, etc.)
I have never found the right recipe and I've been looking for years, off and on. Checked with surviving family members, online, local chefs, but no can find.
If you know what I'm talking about, do you have the recipe? something was added to it. not spam, not green onions, not shoyu, not salsa, etc. Can?
We receive housing benefits (sec 8) and are very very thankful. However, after getting approved and living in our current location for almost 3 years the last inspection (which we passed every year) was a fail. The inspector said it failed because we don't have a living room. We have a "living room" but it's just small and part of the kitchen.... and it's passed all these years.
I have a feeling a new rule was implemented regarding the living room (so family's can gather and be happy together 🤦♂️) but I can't find any info. So we just have to wait to see what they tell us after this "failed" inspection and worry every night if we will be the next homeless family.
Has this happened to anyone else?
