4 cops came while I was typing that. I live at the mouth of the valley near UH
I wouldn't think something would be on fire in this weather so any idea what's happening? Flood? Landslide?
Would it perhaps have been a better idea to wait until the replacement renewable capacity was built and operational before shutting down the AES plant first?
Aloha all,
I’m looking for Hawaiian novels. Specifically I’d love to read a story about what it’s like to grow up in Hawaii.
Does anything like that exist? I think a story like that could really help newcomers to understand this place and its people.
Mahalo.
I'm wondering how much this upcoming administration could affect life on the island.
What kind of impact do mainland federal policies typically have on daily life for citizens living in Hawaii?
What were the pros/cons of the last Trump administration specifically for Hawaii?
Thanks for any answers or insight!

Looking for any Hermann’s tortoise breeders on Oahu or someone that know of a place where I can buy one?
I saw this data here: https://www.houzeo.com/blog/average-mortgage-payment/
Does this seem right? The Hawaii number seems to be 60% higher than the next closest state!
Here’s a breakdown of average mortgage payments based on state. The data presented here originates from the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER).
Rainbow drive inn Kapahulu was my go to in the mornings for affordable fried rice but I don’t see it on their menu any more T_T. Anyone know of an affordable one?
I know delicious ones are side street in and guava smoked. But I like pig out or treat my friends some times. Haha thanks in advance!
For me it finally feels like the changing into the fall season. It seemed to happen so fast just a week or so ago.
My coworker’s friend thinks they bought this dessert in Oahu before they returned to Maui, but they can’t remember where they bought it from. She says there was sweet potato inside and they thought it was from Ubae, but no luck! Does anyone recognize this dessert and where you can buy it? Thanks in advance!
It's a very real possibility that the affordable care act is going to be repealed. Did Hawaii have any laws in place before the ACA to prevent insurance companies from dropping coverage if you get sick?
After Forever 21 left, I don’t know where to go anymore. I’m looking to get a nice mini dress that’s a little sexy for a nice dinner, but I don’t want to get anything above $50. I feel like Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom are out of the picture when it comes to price. I shop online, but I prefer to shop in stores because I like to know how things fit on me before buying. I don’t have a car, so I’d prefer if wherever I shop be in the Waikiki to Ward area because I like to walk.
Mahalo!
My kingdom for a livestream of the lines at Honolulu Hale and Kapolei Hale so I at least have an idea of how much longer to wait for the 1st printout
Aloha everyone!
I wanted to see what y’all know about places with the best happy hours- prices would be lovely!
Along with whatever sweet deals, tips, tricks you guys keep tucked away for nights out!💕
Mahalooooo!
This is my first time tracking my mail-in ballot so I'm not sure when I should expect my notification. Has anyone received a notice that their ballot was received yet? Our ballots were dropped in a box on Sunday.
Edit: Thank you everyone for your response! It's Wednesday morning and just got my email notification :-)
Backs up all the way to Kapalawai Deli. Perhaps two voting locations wasn’t enough.
We took our baby girl and dogs over to Crane playground today cause it’s the nearest park by us, and accidentally rolled our stroller into a pile of human sh*t right next to the playground. this is the 3rd time i’ve seen a pile of human feces near there. is there any number or website i can contact to clean this up and/or prevent it from happening again? it’s so disgusting.
Edit: thanks to the people that suggested 311 and the fix it app. everyone else, i think you’re very creative and funny, tanks for the laughs
Was there any follow up to the rescheduling of the meeting between the Red Hill Water Alliance Initiative and the Navy? I'm just going off of this post from last week.

Are there any resources that can help us keep a pulse on the situation as it develops?
Or if any, efforts to make this situation more accessible to the rest of the world?
We all remember going to school and having a friends mom that would make li hing gummies and all kinds of repackaged store brand candies. Noms really took it above and beyond being able to sell a small bag of li hing rainbow belts for $5+ and now creating their own original candies.
Is this the new age Jade candy?
Is there a reason or was there some decision made as to why they never reopened local voting places at schools after covid? I voted by mail but I miss the experience of walking down to my local voting location on election day. My cousin was texting me the line at Honolulu Hale is like 2 hours long, seems crazy all of town has one voting location.
