Does anyone know if Costco in Lihue has eggs in stock? I can’t get through on the phone and don’t want to drive an hour if they don’t. Thanks.
Mike
Hey all! Hope that the wind wasn't too bad for any of you but I wanted to come on here and just say that the Weekly Council Update is out once again :)
The item/discussion I'd like to highlight is making farmers markets legal in some open spaces which was prompted after a complaint was received which lead to the shut down of the Princeville Artists and Farmers Market. The most discussion was on this, with resistance mounted by Councilmember Cowden after Councilmembers Kaneshiro and Holland introduced a motion to push the bill to the planning commission. I got a bit more in depth in the video.
On this week's episode...
Leave your comments and suggestions down below here or on YouTube. I'd estimate that the planning commission process will definitely take some time, but be sure to subscribe and tune in to get the latest updates on all of these topics!

I got an email from the high school at 10AM this morning saying if you kept your child home today we will auto excuse their absence. Then the stink eye from my kid when he got home because we made him go to school today.
Why can't we cancel in advance? It took the bus an hour to get to Lihue from Koloa. And what about tomorrow?
Anything? Tonight or tomorrow night, EDM or anything really :) where to find things like this?
State popo pulled me over today for rolling through the stop sign on the road that veers left to the dump and Ahukini. I have rolled through that one-lane stop sign a million times lol. But there were three state cruisers in the area near that intersection...can't recall seeing that at all. When I gave him my license he didn't ticket me...but still...
I cannot believe I am in a state of mind where I am arguing in favor of taxes. Smh. The amount of working class people struggling to find housing while actively participating in the community is absurd.
Meanwhile we have some of the nicest parcels and properties vacant 330-345 days a year. Doing some quick research the non residents pay about 5k per million in value in taxes opposed to 1250 per million for residents.
5k per million appraised isn’t enough. This number needs to be tripled. There is a correlation between raising the property tax on non residents and inventory. Every single time property taxes have been increased to non residents, they leave. Good.
Found a nice ring. Wedding/engagement at this trail area. DM with description and I will fedex it to you.
I hear them happening late, say 10 PM onwards. If you call dispatch, it takes a while for an officer to arrive and the perpetrators are gone, since they do it for only about three minutes or so. Can hear what sounds like pickup trucks doing it. Skidmarks the next morning also look like they're done by pickup trucks.
I got coupons.
Hi all! Olivia here. (social media manager from Hō'ike)
I wanted to cover some of the main points from the County Council meeting of this week! This is intended so you get the main points, and if you want you can follow up with the county and get involved.
Three main takeaways:
We do it every week there is a council meeting, and this week we broke our formula of having the council members do it, and had me write a script and recap it in THREE MINUTES! It's available in both Youtube and Podcast formats for you to have an easy time listening to it!
The main questions I'd like to pose to you r/kauai users is if you believe that an update like this is quicker and easier to digesting the full meetings (which are usually hours long)
It’s so cold this morning. Mornings like this I wish we had fireplaces in our house. Had to make use of the car heater on my drive to work.
Is there any place on kauai where I can buy egg laying chickens?
Hello all!
Your local nonprofit who manages your PUBLIC, EDUCATIONAL, AND GOVERNMENTAL (PEG) ACCESS INFORMATION Station is here to start the conversation about protecting your right to be able to practice free speech.
This is written by the social media manager for Hō’ike Community Media - and if I’m being completely honest I had not given public access much of a thought prior to being hired here in August.
Now that I understand how social media algorithms can be influenced, how AI can create content for better or worse - I wanted to come here to talk about what we do and hopefully connect with some of you! Here’s some quick points to get your mind going -
We are not fully funded by the government although we do a lot of services for the County like filming the County Council meetings or other events they may have. We are a 501c3 Nonprofit :)
Public Access at its core is NON COMMERCIAL meaning mostly locally produced is aired on our two channels on cable, our mobile app/website, and lastly our in-house productions air on YouTube and Podcasts.
ANYONE can make content with our equipment (We have sony camcorders that are designed with broadcast in mind) and since YouTube has some content restrictions as far as freedom of speech goes local storytellers can really use it to speak what is on their mind - once they attend our producer classes to get them well versed with our equipment .
Okay! Sorry for the essay! Comment below or DM us if you’d like to start a conversation about this. The ability to create art and get be apart of a community is a NECESSITY these days and we are here to serve Kaua’i.
Park Fook Tong Society & the Kapa’a Chinese Cemetery wish u & all your family a joyous & prosperous Year of the Wood Snake!

Anyone have a link to somewhere with all the pics+ info on all the mushrooms wildly scattered around Kauai? On my walks Ive been noticing more varieties different than the normal toadstool and i’ve been interested in knowing about them :^)
At least three parked cars set on fire in the middle of the night over the past week or so. Two parked right by the fruit stand, one a bit further back into the farms
I am 24 and just moved to Kauai a week or so ago and am looking to make new friends! I’ve heard it can be a bit challenging on island so wanted to see if anyone here is in a similar position. I love all things outdoors and want to get better at surfing, if anyone wants to meet up!
Any suggestions on where I can get a relatively stylish (prefer MCM but open to other styles), high quality, yet affordable couch? I’ve looked in person at the furniture shops I’m aware of on island as well as online but I can’t seem to find anything that ticks all the boxes. Anyone else on island find anything that they really love? I have indoor cats so I’m looking for something semi-durable as well. I’d like to spend $1k max but could put a bit more in for the right couch.
Anyone know if Konohiki is open? They were closed last couple times I went. Not sure if they were closed for the holidays or if something else is going on. Mahalo.
My 60 year old uncle lives in Lihue. He struggles with Parkinson’s disease and has a very difficult time lifting items. He can barely drive any more and getting groceries for himself has become nearly impossible. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have any family or friends around to assist him with groceries. Does anyone know of any non-profit that could help pick up groceries for him with his own money? Alternatively, is anyone aware of any food delivery services that accept cash? I would like to order food for him remotely. Thanks!
Going Kauai in July for 2 nights for a family reunion in Lihue. I’m on Oahu. Extended family lives Kauai. Preschool kids want to camp. Was thinking Lydgate. Safe? We tent camp on Oahu. Anybody have recommendation on what campsite should book (shade tree, proximity to bathroom, etc)? Does away from water make a difference on how windy? Know the trades can blow in July. If not, I would probably book next to water. Aloha.
I'm selling a vehicle for a friend who lives on the mainland now and DMV is telling me the only way to transfer the title is for the owner to sign section A on the title....I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has figured out a way around this? FedEx to east cost is expensive. Thanks.
