I feel like I keep ruining nice pieces of clothing.
I try buying mostly natural fibers and I would love to know your tips and hacks for taking better care of cotton, linen, silk, wool, viscose or hemp pieces.
(Beside not over-washing and following the cleaning instructions.)
Talk about your random fashion-related thoughts.
WAYWT is the acronym for "What Are You Wearing Today". It doesn't necessarily need to be what you were wearing TODAY.
This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).
To get the best responses, remember that people cannot; look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Curious what the general consensus is…I have friends in their late 30s who wear considerably longer shorts than me. Also noticed while shopping, there are a lot of options for longer shorts. If you can pull it off, should there be a cut off age?

I'm curious about what your guys' favorite fashion staples are. One of my go-to's is a black leather blazer. It looks so good with jeans, dresses, skirts, leggings ,etc. It always makes me feel a little bit more put together.
I love fashion, I love watching YouTube videos and Instagram content about styling clothes, I love browsing clothing website to see what's new, and getting dressed and putting outfits together genuinely brings me joy. I love mixing and matching new and old pieces. My wardrobe is updated regularly with each season, I have standbys/pieces I keep around for years and that get heavy use (e.g. my jeans, blazers and tailored trousers), but I also like adding in new things I find that I think would work well with the rest of my wardrobe.
I am finding that I buy and return things quite a lot - sometimes it's because I see something cute online and decide to order it, but the purchase doesn't work out for some reason (size, material, fit, etc). Or it works fine but then I decide I can't justify keeping it and decide to return it. I get a lot of parcels coming and going. I feel like this is probably too much consumption and would love to try and figure out a way to enjoy fashion as a hobby but without the overconsumption aspect. But it feels like it's hard if there's new stuff coming out weekly and always new trends. I don't consider myself particularly trend driven but I do like to try out trends that I think fit in with my personal style.
Is anyone else in the same boat? Would love some ideas for how to enjoy fashion without necessarily needing to buy things!
EDIT: everyone has had some great ideas in the comments! You’ve all given me a lot to think about and I’m definitely going to try out some of the things suggested here, think it’s high time I go on a low/no buy and switch to buying secondhand only whenever possible.
Anyone have the issue where the front of your foot is wide and the hill of your foot is narrow?
Therefore, by the time you get a shoe with a comfortable width the backs are flapping off. It seems impossible to find flat shoes. Some Scrunchie flats seem like they may work. I am not sure. Sneakers seem to have the same problem. Any advice is appreciated.

This thread is for sharing all your new buys. Clothes, shoes, razors cologne, share it all. ...Just kidding. But just like MFA, and per your suggestions, we are now going to have a weekly recent purchases thread. So gather round and brag about your purchases! Bags, clothing, shoes, jewellery, perfume, etc.
If possible, please share a picture and a little review! Pictures can also be shared directly in the comments now.
Here you can share all the fashion related news you have come across recently. Whether it is a newly released runway, an interview with a designer, a new label slashing onto the scene or speculating new trends emerging, everything news related is welcome here.

Does anyone else have two completely different aesthetics for the cool and warm weather? Or just different aesthetics in general that you have managed to blend together so that you don’t have two (or more) a completely different wardrobes?
In the cold weather I dress like a 1940’s/50’s housewife. My warm weather wardrobe has strong witchy/boho vibes (I call it goth hippie lol.) I want to merge these two looks somehow so I’m getting more use out of the items I already own and so that my style is more cohesive and nuanced. I feel like maybe dark academia is the bridge connecting the two?
If anyone has suggestions or inspo on how to blend these styles, or experienced a similar dilemma on your style journey please chime in!
After seeing a TikTok on how to use ChatGPT for a personal color analysis , I was wondering if others have used ChatGPT in other ways.
Eta- TikTok showed how you can get your skin color, hair color and eye color in hex colors from a selfie. You input the hex colors with the ask for a personal color analysis to ChatGPT and they will give you an answer (with details if asked)
I'm talking pastels, brights, etc. Like if I want a cute light pink winter coat, there's just not that many options. And when brands do make colored coats, they're always in muted and "off" shades. I don't know how to describe it, but I just mean colors that feel "old" to me. It's like they're pulling colors from the palette of of a weird ass rainbow. For instance like these North Face jackets all have that black part or come in muted colors.
All the cute bright colors seem to be reserved for kids and teens, and unfortunately I'm too tall to fit into a lot of teens stuff.
The other cute bright jackets I could find are usually really expensive brands like Moncler, Canada Goose, and other designers.
Does anyone have recommendations for jackets in pastels or brights? Like actual pastels and brights, the kind you would see on Sanrio products.
why don't more companies make colorful things? Is it because of limitations in fabric dyeing? Or is there just no market
Can’t figure out why a certain outfit doesn’t work for you or are you just stumped on what is flattering on you? Then this is the thread for you and you can ask your questions here.
Please do refrain from talking negatively about your own body, we understand that you are likely frustrated due to various reasons (we’ve all been there) but out of respect for others and their struggles, keeping it positive helps everyone.

Hey y’all. So I’m a 2nd gen south Asian American and I have been noticing a lot of issues when it comes getting the ‘pure’ stuff when shopping for clothing. For example was looking for 100% cotton underwear and couldn’t find it and the ones I did cost $50 plus. Given that summers almost here I wanted some nice breezy cotton sundresses and everything that I checked turned out to be polyester to some degrees. I talked to my mum and she said she’ll get them tailored for me from back home. My mom got me 2 dresses from back home last year and I loved the prints and how comfortable they were and the fact they cost no more then $20 for 100% cotton. My question is do you guys also find it hard to find pure stuff or has it turned out to be a luxury?
Thought this could be a fun conversation!
I have a pair of joggers which initially were too big, but I kept them for at home pants. 3 years later I've gained weight and now they're at least slim enough I can wear them to the gym.
Another one was a linen blazer I found used. I couldn't get into blazers for the longest time, but something changed (moved to a hotter location where cardigans are a no go in the summer) and now it's my go to in warmer weather!

Going through my closet in prep for a move and realizing that a lot of items that I don't like have a pattern to them and felt like this could be a fun exercise to buy less. This could be brands you've found that don't work for you or fashion advice. For me, personally I've realized a few things:
So FFA, what advice would you tell your previous self not to buy?
When I was a teenager I spent way more than I could afford on an LA-based studio that had designs which were ostensibly Y2K but would still work in 2024. Their vibe was futuristic/gamer yet classy/gender fluid/early internet. To this day I still look for them secondhand and snatch up a nice piece when I find them, but of course there are fewer and fewer as time goes on. They didn't even go belly up per se, they went from "worn by ariana grande, billie eilish, etc." to falling off the map overnight, seemingly because the founder just wasn't interested in the project anymore and wanted to move on to his next thing.
Which clothing brand do you miss and why?

For me it's:
Doen: Amazing construction, holds up great over time, the most fantastic timeless pieces.
Christy Dawn: Natural fibers and so easy to wear. I can literally wear their dawn dress for an easy forest walk. My only complaint is that they run small.
Swedish Hasbeens/Blundstones: So durable- I've owned both my pairs for over 5 years.
Ilana Kohn: Timeless construction and out of the box design.
Sea NY: So whimsical and easy. All of the dresses have pockets.
TOAST: Each piece is like art. Comfortable enough to wear at home but nice enough to feel like I'm dressed to go out.
