Here for a night.

Bar recommendations or interesting events happening tonight? I travel for work, sometimes delays occur, and it happened to land me here for tonight. What do the people of Dubuque recommend?

Antique Stores or Flea Markets

My daughter and I are coming to Dubuque today through Sunday.

We love Dubuque and come every six months, or less from Madison Wisconsin.

We love antique stores and flea markets. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Also we love to eat. We are going to the Morroco Club this evening and Timmermans tomorrow evening. We will likely eat at Freddy's for lunch tomorrow.

Any suggestions for brunch or lunch on Sunday?

Moving to DBQ in May. Have a question.

Hi folks! I hope you guys are having a great day!

I am planning to move to DBQ mid May. Does anyone know of any apartments that are disabled friendly (but not restricted to just seniors), or does anyone have a place up for rent. I am not wheelchair bound, but I have trouble walking and using stairs. Needs to be pet friendly (cat).

Glyphosate Commercials

Eagle 102.3 is airing commercials for the farmers to support their use of Glyphosate.

Here are some glyphosate concerns:

Cancer: Glyphosate has been classified as "probably carcinogenic to humans" by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Studies have shown an increased risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in people exposed to glyphosate.

Endocrine Disruption: Glyphosate may interfere with the body's hormone system, potentially leading to reproductive and developmental problems.

Gastrointestinal Issues: Exposure to glyphosate can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Liver and Kidney Damage: Glyphosate can damage the liver and kidneys, especially with prolonged exposure.

Neurological Effects: Some studies suggest that glyphosate may affect the nervous system, causing headaches, dizziness, and confusion.

Developmental Issues: Exposure to glyphosate during pregnancy or early childhood may increase the risk of developmental problems, such as birth defects and learning disabilities.

Other Considerations: Glyphosate is often used in combination with other herbicides and pesticides, which may increase the risk of health effects. The safety of glyphosate for people with certain health conditions, such as asthma or allergies, may be a concern. Glyphosate residues may be present in food, especially in genetically modified (GM) crops.

Conclusion: While more research is needed, the available evidence suggests that glyphosate may pose a risk to human health. It is important to take precautions to minimize exposure to this herbicide, such as wearing protective clothing when handling glyphosate-based products, avoiding contact with treated areas, and washing fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating them.

Rentals?

Hello! I just moved to the area and have temp housing but am looking for something long term. I see a lot of individual homes through Executive Management and Locators, but was hoping a member of the community could give me more insight. Thank you!

Video games or board games

Just looking for a group to actually play with. Ideally Nintendo games interest me the most for video games. Board games I'm open to whatever. I just want to find a group.

Funeral Home Recommendations

Tw: infant loss

Hi everyone, we recently learned that our daughter is expected to be stillborn or pass away shortly after birth. We’re starting to look into funeral homes and are wondering if anyone can recommend a funeral home in Dubuque (or southwest Wisconsin) that might be a good fit for us. We’ll do our own research too but it’s a pretty sensitive time for us and would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks for your time!

Nursing home recommendations

Our adult son (19) is disabled and it is becoming more difficult for us to meet his needs at home so we are considering placing him in a nursing home. Does anyone have recommendations of places that provide quality care? He's non-verbal so it scares me to turn him over to someone else because he can't tell us if he is being mistreated. If it's a place that has other younger people that would be ideal but he doesn't really interact with others very much so it's not a deal breaker.

Lattnerville

I’m trying to locate photographs from a small Dubuque County town that no longer exists, called Lattnerville. The location would have been approximately three miles north of Peosta. The town church and cemetery aer all that remain. Any help is appreciated!

Im from Pennsylvania. I recently saw a tractor trailer from your city. I chuckled because the first way i read the name in an accent, i realized pure marketing gold.

Someone needs to make a bbq joint there called Du-bu-que.

Best Restaurant Deals

Any deals for eating out that you’ve found in the Dubuque area? Either a special that they run or a decently priced option? One I know of is the Monday Burger special at Backpocket, 8$ burger basket. My husband and I love to eat out, but recently cut our budget a bit!

Are there any groups for amateur photographers in town? Or people who'd like to learn photography?

Like the title says I'm a very amateur photographer, but I've been wanting to better hone my skills and learn from others. I haven't been able to find anything on my own in terms of classes or groups, so naturally I'm turning to Reddit for input.

Thanks!

I used to live in Dubuque back in 2010-13 and was a huge Fighting Saints fan. I was hoping that someone here would be going to the game on Saturday night, and if they could pick me up something from the team store

Hey there! Im in the Coast Guard and my first unit was CGC Wyaconda, the Coast Guard ship across from the Diamond Jo.

We were all huge fans of the Saints (and Gaudreau) and I was wondering if anyone here was planning on going to the game on Saturday. If so, could you reach out to me about buying something from the store and mailing it to me?

Thank you very much!

Good Vets in the area?

Looking for suggestions. We've taken my boy to an office a little outside of town since we got him (5+ years). They've always been wonderful to us. Recently they've changed tones and are a bit... Aggressive. Guessing this is due to a change in staff (?).

For instance, we usually buy a special food item but they didn't have it in stock (they usually do). We ended up buying some from a different store at a cheap price. It's been a few weeks and apparently they ordered some and want us to buy the whole stock saying they don't "normally carry it" even though we did not ask them to order it and they have in the past.

Kept this pretty vague as to not call out any place in particular or leak anything that could lead back to me lol.

Punk Rock Scene?

I'm newer to the area and I'm wondering if there is any version of a punk scene out here. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago going to shoes every weekend and listening to screeching weasel, face to face, NOFX and the like an same type of bands. I'm wondering if there are others in the area that enjoy that type of music or a place I can go and feel welcome. Thanks in advance.
