Res for one on April 30. DM with email. First gets it, unless someone manages to guess my favorite animal.
Is there public transportation available from Madison to Edgerton? Visiting soon and trying to figure out what routes to take. Thanks!
Hello! I’m looking for theatre companies/opportunities/auditions (I prefer musicals but I do both) in Madison. I’m relocating to the area with my bf for a sick career opportunity for him, but my career is theatre. I’ve heard good things about the theatre opportunities in Madison so I’m excited to not have to choose long distance or no theatre. I have looked things up on my own but I have to do really specific searches to get anywhere and I just don’t know where to start.
obviously I’d prefer paid as this is my genuine career but it’s not a deal breaker. I also sing with bands when I can so any resources for those kinds of opportunities I’d also love.
Hey y’all! I’m looking to broaden my horizons and get to meet more people. 26M, but honestly, I just want to try new things and do new things. Sports, music, art, nature, that all excites me. Anyone interested in becoming friends?! I’d love to meet some of y’all from this beautiful state/city!
Hi! I'm looking for a massage therapist in Madison who doesn't use essential oils. I'm smell sensitive.
I’m so excited for gardening season to come back! I have two important questions for you all; who does balcony gardening planning? I could totally tackle it myself, but I’d love to bounce ideas off someone. And also, what are the three best nurseries to buy plants from within an hour of Madison (no big box stores, please)? I’m looking for small family-run businesses. I’ll probably start over 90% of my own plants, but I always enjoy wandering around and picking up more goodies. You know what I mean, right? 😂
Anybody have any recommendations for rooms/spaces that could work for hosting guitar lessons for myself and 1 other person?
I asked the public library and they said their rooms are available, but they've had people try with other instruments in the past (specifically violin) and gotten complaints from people who weren't about that noise. I feel like nylon string acoustic would be quiet enough to not be too terribly disruptive, but would still probably be enough to rankle some patrons.
Madison Music Foundry has rehearsal spaces, but with the rental fee it would be $34-40 for an hour, which is more than I'm comfortable paying.
Main criteria:
- Reasonably sound-resistant or isolated enough as to not bother anyone in the immediate area
- Low/no rental fee
- Wheelchair accessible
Being centrally located would be nice, but the above items are the bigger concerns.
Anyone know of any places that might work?
Long story short, I live with my s/o and want to move out. If I were to leave my s/o would want to stay living in the same place so it's not like I could find a sublet. I don't have any family or anyone who would be willing to let me crash with them. I can't sign another lease bc I am already in one. I also have cats which complicates things. I'm feeling incredibly down bc I just feel trapped. I tried calling the tenant resource center but they didn't answer and I couldn't leave a voice message
ETA I live in a very small one bedroom
According to the city of Madison A landlord cannot require you to pay late fees of more than 5% of a month's rent. MGO 32.12(11).
I'm wondering if anyone knows if that's per day late or is that the maximum late fee is 5% in a month?
Thanks!
I’ve been in Madison for years and just recently learned about Tornado Steakhouse’s late night menu deals. I can’t help but wonder if there’s other awesome deals I’m missing out on near here.
Any restaurants, food shops, or bars that have deals like this?
I'll be moving into the area late May (or 6/1 latest) with a roommate & 2 small dogs (~30 lbs combined)! As it's a bit early, it's hard to find townhouse/condo/house rentals for the West Madison/Downtown area for that timeframe.
Budget: around $2.5k/month for rent
Needs: hoping for 2 bed 2 bath min, parking & definitely pet friendly
We were curious to know if there were any recommendations for leasing companies, areas, or where even to look. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you!
My dog desperately needs his nails trimmed. He’s medium sized and sweet but extremely anxious about it. He jerks his paws away unpredictably. The quicks are very close- so he likely needs a few tiny trims until they recede enough. His nails are thick, and many are dark. (Yes, I should have worked more with him when he was a puppy, but in his younger years he walked so much they wore down naturally. Now that he’s older they aren’t getting worn down)
I am looking for a groomer (business or in home) who is patient, but fast moving when the opportunity strikes, careful, and with lots of creative ideas. I do not want either of us to be traumatized.
Please help a good boy!
I don’t know how to say this. I’ve been wanting to get corn rows but I have been told by some shops they won’t touch my head because I’m white. I haven’t been wanting to put this out there but I guess I have to. I have trich AKA I pull my hair as an obsessive compulsive disorder. I am destroying my hair. I hide it. I want to get it put into corn rows or Viking braids so I won’t touch it. They stay in for a few weeks which makes a huge difference compared to the normal braids I do. I still pull with those. I had it done once when I was younger and it did wonders and really helped me.
Does anyone have some good salons or shops they would suggest that would help me without judging me or accusing me of cultural appropriation? That’s not it at all. It absolutely devastated me to be told that by a few salons. I just need my hair put up in something semi permanent that I can get redone every few weeks so it and I can heal.
Thanks guys. 💕
Hey fellow Madisonians! After a series of unfortunate events, my wife and I will be car shopping this weekend. We intend to pay upfront for a used vehicle around 10k. I would love to hear what car dealers you have had good experiences with.
I included these specific details because I know that purchasing a new or near new vehicle from a dealer is a much different experience than what I will be after. So if you had a great experience buying your brand new cyber truck, it may not be that relevant to me. Thanks!
My girlfriend has a pregnancy craving for watermelon. Has anyone happened to spot whole watermelons at any west side grocery stores?
Edit: THANK YOU!!!
I see so many people lined way up at intersections in the two main lanes, with nobody using the curb lane during those times. Would definitely help traffic flow a bit if people actually pay attention to signage!
(And as such, please don’t stop/park in that lane during those times, too many folks really are not paying attention and causing issues)
The successful Cali burrito post has me inspired. I've searched around but no success finding Mission/super burritos (ideal would be similar to El Farolito in SF or Anna's Taqueria in Boston). Chipotle and Qdoba are fine but lacking in comparison.
Our condo association just learned that AmFam is non-renewing coverage for all condo associations. I don't know if that is locally, regionally, or nationwide, but I'm curious what other condo associations are doing. I hope we'll find someone to get insurance from.
Side note: So much for the "why don't we build more condos in Madison" question.
Looking for a new to me place to grab drinks and a late lunch/early dinner. Preferably somewhere on the east side (McFarland, Monona, cottage grove etc.)
Anything from a dive to more upscale.
Get ready for more bus service to Verona! FINALLY!!!
In anticipation of winter’s most dreary month in the upper Midwest, where oh where can a small team enjoy during a workday for some respite? I’m thinking Olbrich Bolz Conservatory of course, but are there any other indoor gardens/atriums in the area I’m not aware of? Chazen and MMOCA are great soul-resuscitation venues. Where else?
My birthday is coming up, and I’m thinking of doing an escape room with friends. We did Escape in Time pre-COVID, and it was great, but I’d love to explore some new spots.
I’ve been hearing good things about Thrill Factory Entertainment, which offers immersive escape rooms with unique themes and interactive puzzles, perfect for a group of adults looking for a challenge. I've also come across Geeks Mania Arcade, which has a mix of retro gaming and escape room elements for those who enjoy both worlds.
We’re all gamers, so bonus points for rooms with clever mechanics and immersive storytelling! Any recommendations?
I’ve been interested in getting into MtG as a casual player, but I don’t have any friends in the area who play. I’m looking for locations and events that are more aimed at new and casual players who want to learn the game. I’m familiar with the majority of the game stores around here but wanted to know if anyone had any significantly good or bad experiences with any of them or if anyone had general recommendations!
On East Wilson Street, by the capital. Ladies beware, I keep getting cat called in broad daylight by these gross men. Walk with a buddy and tell your friends! Can’t be too safe in these times. Bystanders, especially dudes since they don’t seem to listen to women when they ask them to stop, call it out if you see or hear it!
