Hello everyone! I’m starting up a thriller book club and am looking for a place to hold our first meeting. We’re looking at the morning of Saturday 11/23. There are more than 40 people in the group but I imagine only 10-15 will actually attend.
I know you can rent out rooms at the library but I was hoping to support a local business. Thank you in advance!
I found some keys in a pocket after buying a hunting jacket at SVDP. They are for a pretty specific (and expensive) piece of equipment so it should be easily identifiable by the person missing them. I called SVDP but they more or less said they can’t really do anything about it and hadn’t had someone call looking for them, although their donations all go to a centralized sorting center so it could have been donated at any of their locations.
I realize this is a super long shot but worth posting if the owner or one of their friends or family members is on here.
... off Park Street near beltline.
Found a key on the edge of the paved walking path between Keelson Drive and Landfall Drive. Reach out if you think it might be yours.
If you have the video of me screaming the bridge to I love you I’m sorry, I’d love to have it. Just got out of a one-year relationship a week ago and that was one of the most therapeutic things I’ve ever done.
Is there anything going on on statestreet? Or just outside of Madison maybe? Looking for anything thats NOT 21+ but is going on after 7pm tonight. I've looked through all the Madison lists, and haven't found anything I'm interested in yet.
call it a craving, but im really craving specifically a country fried steak
what diner do you think has the best one?
Poll workers are friendly, not pressuring and guide you gently through every step of the process. I was in and out of the building in 10 minutes. If you are hesitant about voting due to anxiety about big crowds or feeling overwhelmed by procedures, go there!
Does anyone know if there are any places in Madison where they will be playing the League of Legends Finals on Saturday morning?
I was hoping one of the arcade bars might be doing something. But I haven't had any luck finding anything.
Hello all. If you don't know Madison has a pretty substantial disc golf community. As accepting as the community is overall I understand it can be daunting to try to get into the sport especially as a member of the LGBTQ community. That being said a very close trans friend of mine has been attempting to host LGBTQ safe disc golf events. They have had some success introducing new LGBTQ people to the game the events are still mostly comprised of friends trying to support them. I've seen a couple posts here of people looking for safe spaces in the Madison area so I wanted to help both my friend and those looking.
So for anyone interested, member or ally, in throwing some plastic in a open welcoming environment the link for the next event is posted below. I hope to see some new faces to share disc golf with. Cheers everyone!

The police have the majority of Johnson Street from the capital all the way out towards the airport blocked off today, anyone know why?
Hey all! I am a music producer in Madison, WI and I've been working with a local rock band on their second full-length album. They just dropped a single today and I figured I would shamelessly post it here to churn up some representation for our local musicians. Enjoy!

Badger tickets are hard to come by on game-days. How much can I expect to pay for a pair of decent (but not high-end) seats?
I did not tell ChatGPT where I live or provide any personal info. I thought it was interesting that it called out major American metropolises like New York, Seattle, SF, but then also....Madison?! I've only been here a short time so I don't know if Willy street has actually undergone these changes or not but I thought it was amusing to see these results.
Yes, several cities have seen negative outcomes following significant property tax increases. For example, Seattle and New York City experienced adverse effects on local communities, with increased property taxes playing a role in accelerating gentrification and displacing long-term residents from historically lower-income neighborhoods. Increases in property taxes, especially when tied to rapid property value appreciation, often result in rent hikes for tenants and higher costs for homeowners, leading to displacement pressures on those with lower incomes.
In San Francisco, rising property values have led to increased tax revenues but have also exacerbated affordability issues, pushing out many low- and middle-income residents. Similar effects have been observed in Madison, Wisconsin, where tax increases and development projects have made certain areas, such as the Willy Street neighborhood, unaffordable for long-time residents. This shift has contributed to a socio-economic homogenization that replaces the neighborhood's cultural character with a "socioeconomic mono-culture" dominated by wealthier new residents. Madison, like many cities undergoing similar transformations, saw rent burdens increase as property taxes and rents rose, impacting nearly half of all renters who were then classified as "housing cost-burdened," paying over 30% of their income on rent.
In these cases, the drawbacks often outweighed the benefits, particularly for vulnerable populations. While higher property taxes can fund public services and infrastructure, they can also lead to long-term changes in neighborhood demographics, cultural erosion, and financial strain for lower-income residents, forcing them to relocate to more affordable but potentially less desirable areas.
Anybody know whats going on at the Edgewater at the end of Langdon Street? Lots of cops, cars, security. There's a tent for cars to drive through like a checkpoint and I think dogs are searching cars
Hey all, driving today down E Johnson and I came across a ton of police cars scattered about in different areas, into the kwik trip, and even including some unmarked cars posted up in random spots all the way down towards the airport.
Anyone have a clue what's up?
I've witnessed a high speed chase where they had to use a tire strip right on E Johnson before. It felt a bit similar to this in the way of positioning and presence.
FYI—heavy presence on that stretch with no traffic lights between CV and the MATC Kwik Trip.
Serious question as the data shows there are some eligible voters in Madison that did not vote in 2020.
Reality is the data shows that if you are a new voter in Dane county your vote disproportionately has more impact than most. In other words your vote can swing the entire presidential election and the fate of a country and even world.
2020 saw WI won by approx 21k votes. It is likely to be even closer in 2024. Your vote is huge and I want to help at least one person go vote for the first time in 2024.
I don’t care who you vote for. I just want to help you vote!
Please let me know what obstacles you have in your way and let’s see if we can remove them together. Feel free to DM if you don’t want to post publicly. I’ll keep it private. I just want to do my part to help.
This is VERY sudden and shouldn't there be a public explanation?
I live on the east side of Madison. My young (30ish), disturbed neighbor has passed away. He was an alcoholic. Squatters and other ghouls have moved in to his house. We see cars coming and going at all hours of the day and night. The MPD recently executed a warrant at his address (meth possession and armed robbery). The two arrestees were living with him at that time. What, if anything, should I do? I am concerned.
