Would $15-$20 per hour be enough to get by in Rockford?
What restaurant has the best pasta?
Looking for a used car dealer with a decent reputation.
I've spent the weekend running searches, and it looks as though everyone is selling financing, more than cars. I just need a decent car that will get me around, without someone trying to strong arm me into a car payment.
Anyone have good luck with a particular dealer?
Additional info... I sold my old car to Carvana and got an amazing price. At this point in my life, I need to be free of car payments. Unfortunately, it looks like every dealer in the area has one primary product, and that is auto financing. The fact that cars are involved seems to be an insignificant thing.
It seems like such a simple thing.. buying a decent car that is reasonable on gas. A lot of dealers do that "call for pricing" thing. Like... Hell! The price of a given car is so volatile you can't even state what it is? And the only way to get a price is to give you my name and phone number? Can I not just call you to be sure a particular car hasn't sold yet?
I'm officially too old. 😆😆
Are there any good stand up open mics around here?
Hello there,
Just like the title states, I am looking for any information on any programs from the city or otherwise that offer rent assistance. My wife lost her job due to complications from her health, and my job cut back my hours. We’re about a month and a half behind on rent as of Dec 1st and we’re terrified of being evicted as we have no where to go, let alone with our three cats. We applied for unemployment and link about a week and a half ago and are awaiting decisions on those as well. Any information and/or help would be tremendously appreciated.
Thank you.
No hate at all. I love where I’m from, Rockford! I’ve had a lot of good times as well! I’m just curious if there is a pattern of awful things.
Being a teacher at RPS, I think one of the craziest things is a parent blocking me from entering my car cause they did not like that I wrote their son up.
Has anyone taken the Highway Construction Careers Training program at Rock Valley College? Looking to learn the trades and get into a union and wondering if this program was beneficial to that. I have zero experience with trades. I want to join the local 23 union but worried I won't pass the aptitude test.
The AMC Rockford has regular open caption (on-screen subtitles) screenings. Open captions are not just for deaf and hard of hearing people. They can also help people with autism, attention deficit disorder, auditory processing disorder, kids learning to read, adults learning English as a second language, noise sensitive, and aphasia. Plus many young people just like captions.
Why are we posting this? We are posting because AMC does not promote its open caption screenings, so we have to. It is possible that this post may reach someone who could benefit, but did not know that the AMC Rockford has regular open captions.
The open caption screenings are limited and listed separately. For example, tomorrow (Dec 2) there are 15 screenings of Moana 2 and only 1, at 12:15 pm, has open captions. Then on Tuesday Dec 3 there is an open caption screening at 7:45 pm. On Dec. 4 it is 4:00 pm.
Rockford should have its own r4r (redditor looking for redditor) group. It just makes sense, given the fact that a lot of people are introverted, busy, or just done with dating apps. You could also use the group to set up your friends, if you were so inclined. If I started said group, would anyone here be interested in joining?
I have a rabbit that needs his nails trimmed. His vet hours are hard to navigate with work, so I was wondering if anyone around would be able to help? If not, I’ll just have to make the appointment and leave work early/go in late.
Anyone else feel there is a total disconnect between the people, neighbors, communities here? I don’t think it’s unique to Rockford. Curious if I’m alone or do people not care?
It's 6:34 PM on November 28, and I'm seeing what looks to be a rapidly moving, slightly elongated light reflected on the clouds from an unknown source. This appears looking towards the north. I'm in south Rockford. Is anyone else seeing this?

One of my favorite restaurants is The Norwegian and right next to that is Rooted, which is a really cute little gift shop.
What are some other locally owned shops in Rockford, Winnebago area, or around Roscoe/Rockton area that sells cool stuff?
I'm a disabled vet and my water heater just broke, what's the cheapest/ efficient replacement I can get? I don't care if it takes up a lot of space.
Just looking for some opinions from the Rockford community and local tax payers. Hypothetically. Say you work for a company that is completely funded by tax payers. Say there is foul play, misuse of tax payer funds, behind the scenes spending, incentivized spending with outside contractors. Along with some illegal procedures going on. Also general deception to the public..
How would you handle this situation if you were one of the only few, amongst many, that knew the truth? How would you handle this situation if the only people you could turn to, are connected with those involved in corruption? How would one go about this without immediately being written off as a disgruntled employee?
I’ve been driving for Uber for a while now, but this evening was my last ride. You won’t believe what happened - for the second time in my time driving, someone tried to carjack me before they even got out of my car! I’m lucky I had something to defend myself with, but let me tell you, this is not something I’m willing to risk my life for. I’m done!
We are unhappy with our experience at Malcom Pediatric and are in search of a dentist office that understands the nuances and difficulties of treating a child with special needs.
Any suggestions are appreciated, local or within 1.5 hours are fine!
Planning to visit some relatives down in Missouri this Thanksgiving weekend. Never done road trips during Thanksgiving so unsure of what the traffic looks like. My dates are flexible. I was planning on leaving Rockford early morning on Thursday and starting back Saturday morning and essentially back in Rockford Saturday evening. Is this a good plan? What is the best time to drive to avoid the traffic? I have heard it can get really bad during Thanksgiving. Thanks in advance.
Has anyone tried Crave yet? I’ve been wanting to check it out but didn’t want to go right after it opened.
