Hi all. Looking for a good interior painter for my kitchen. Professionals only please. East side.
Thanks in advance.
What are some places nearby to buy food?
Just wondering if there is an adult autism group in the area. Please comment if you know of any
I've been curious about places like 317 Art Collective and Test Site because I want to surround myself with more people who are actively making art. What are the people like? Do they have space where you can work? Are they just galleries?
I have started a band with a buddy and am planning on getting rolling once we find all the pieces. The problem is we both play guitar, so we need some low-end and some rhythm! I am 18 and he is 19, looking for someone around that age but can he a bit older 😁
Posting for my boyfriend because he doesn’t have Reddit
Hey y'all! I'm just wanting to gauge interest in organized meetups for just casually hanging out and working on projects together. Crochet, knitting, embroidery, whatever you're into! I haven't found anything like this in the area that meets my schedule so I figured why not try and start my own!
I am 31, nonbinary, and really hoping to find just some cool artists to vibe with! I think creativity is best when shared among different walks of life so I'd really love to create a group that is welcoming for everyone regardless of gender, age, etc. if there's interest I can start a discord server and start organizing things!
Edit: due to interest I started a Discord server to get everyone in one place so we can make this happen! See comments for link. I tried to reply to everyone but I'm also working right now 😅
My housemate Brad C. has been missing for several days now, and we're starting to get worried. He's a little under six feet tall, lanky, has closely cropped red hair, kind of a long face, and might be wearing glasses. It's not like him not to at least drop someone a text if he's going to be gone a few days. I'm not a sunshine-and-roses person so I fear that he might have crossed the wrong people or gotten himself hurt.
Brad, if you're reading this then text me. Borrow someone's phone if you have to. We just want to know if you're alright.
ETA: Thank you everyone for your suggestions. He finally came home last night, so I don't have to worry about where he was now.
The Rockford Dev November meetup is now live: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rockford-dev-november-meetup-shape-the-future-tickets-1075867321119
For the next two meetings we will be shaping and dicussing the future of Rockford Dev. Come join us and pitch in your ideas on what you would like to see from our little group and how we can accomplish those goals. Are there any other groups in town Rockford Dev can collaborate with? Are you interested in helping build our community? Should ther be a website? How do we find new members? Everything and anything about our group is open for discussion, critique and review.
Misery loves company.
Really pleasant experience at St Mark's on Mulford. Helpful poll workers, organized, short line (2:00 pm). Thank you to all who worked to make that happen!
Preferably not one through Mercy on Rockton. If Mercy has another one other than Bashir or Hovis, I’m open to hearing it.
Willing to drive up to 2 hours at this point. Madison, Chicago, doesn’t matter.
Have heard some people have waited for 2+ hours to vote in Rockford today.
Report any lines over a 1 hour wait, and get some pizza delivered!
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone who is currently attending college (preferably RVC) is working a job that is paying for them to go to school? I’m trying to find a place to work that would help with my tuition but still get enough hours to have a decent paycheck. I have tried UPS but the hours are very low per week, and Amazon offers seasonal employment but I need something regular to work at for the next 2 years.
Otherwise I’m interested in just hearing where y’all are working at while being in college too!
Also if anyone knows of any IT internship opportunities that may arise in the next upcoming year/summer, please do let me know! I know of RPS205 and Woodward but they haven’t opened any applications for an entry level tech position recently.
Does anybody know why we have had so many emergency tests on tv this morning?
Last Monday before the Rockford City Council was a resolution before alderman that had language asking the council to take a stand against the on-going genocide in Palestine, the Westbank and Lebanon, and an establishment of peace for all parties, including Israel. Israeli speakers attended the meeting in an attempt to sway alderman, calling the terminology of “genocide,” an antisemitic trope. The fear mongering worked, with only two aldermen voting in favor of the resolution. Aprel Prunty (Ward 6) and Bill Rose (Ward 9) approved of the resolution, with Alderman Rose the only alderman that made statements on the resolution.
As alderman cast the final votes, City of Rockford residents yelled at the council, loudly shouting the term, “Shame.” As the crowd exited the building the chants were heard in the council quarters for minutes. The inability of city council members to speak at all on this issue communicating to local Palestinians and Middle Eastern advocates that their families and properties abroad were not worth advocating for, was a feeling in the room that leaders simply don't understand the historical implications. The message was ignorance, was unwillingness to take a stand on genocide, and was in some cases, an unwillingness to express empathy for human justice. Those feelings have left a bad taste in the fifty or sixty regular protesters who often came to the chambers silently waiting for their voice to be heard.
Silencing the Middle Eastern voices at every junction has been a behind the scenes attempt from the local Rockford Jewish Federation, an unusual organization that claims to represent local Jewish faith members, but hold no apparent public meetings, no formal organization, or provide no evidence that the organization exists outside of four individuals that continually repeat Israeli Defense Forces propaganda to influence local government leaders. The organization has made months long claims that Hamas is using “human shields,” that the Israeli government is being attacked out of “antisemitism,” and that the war started because of “October 7^(th).” They conveniently leave out the part where the Israeli government prior to the October 7^(th) attack from Hamas had held approximately 3,500 illegally detained Palestinian children, women, and men under military tribunal with no charges, no end date of their arrest, and no civilian body to bring them before a court of justice. The Rockford Jewish Federation maintains that “Israel has the right to defend itself,” but make no mentions to the level at which defending oneself becomes a genocidal war on children and women. With over 43,000 dead civilians and another ten thousand believed dead under the rubble, Israel has ignored the International Criminal Courts of Justice, continued endless use of 2,000 pound bunker busting bombs in residential areas, and have continually targeted hospitals, schools, and aid stations in their war of attrition.
Gaza’s genocide sees no end under Benjamin Netanyahu, who has laughed at the United States attempts to stop him. His only care in the world is the continued war on children so he can avoid arrest for his own criminal behavior in Israel. He has continued this war so that the courts in Israel can’t assume justice while he serves as military commander of a defense operation that his peers admittedly believe he botched. And to top off the continued criminal behavior, he ardently pivoted in multiple occasions to secure the freeing of hostages in Israel, in an attempt to keep his job. Benjamin Netanyahu’s legacy will hopefully go down as one of the most violent and criminal of the entire Israel elite, but not without securing the name “the Butcher of Gaza.”
As U.S. cities have pushed the federal government and President Biden to act, his unwillingness will be a “forever stain” of a lifelong political career. Biden has been stupidly ignorant to the calls for peace and has walked back statements of “redlines” that were drawn in the sand, only to have Benjamin Netanyahu to laugh at his face. Biden has shown his feebleness and lack of sound mind, but also his commitment to a racist ideology that he has been called out for when he was a young policymaker. Biden may have lost a whole voting bloc of Palestinian men and women for the Democratic Party that is growing larger and more politically active then ever before. Their commitment to never cross the “the genocidal redline” has been seen in areas in Michigan and around other states that could cost key votes to a tight race. The presidential race didn’t have to be this close, and it would have been a much easier sell to Middle Eastern voters had the administration investigated one of the 500 human rights abuse cases that have seen no administrative action whatsoever. The Biden administration has been playing “dumb,” and while Biden will not face the charges in his lifetime for supporting a Genocide, staff members should second guess their roles in playing “stooge” for an Israeli government who will face charges and historical attrition for years to come.
American Palestinian and Middle Eastern Civil Rights leaders are leading the charge in communities like Rockford. They continue to hold local leaders accountable to votes they are making on city council, and are relentless in their approach to ensure that justice is being done for those who have no voice. They are activists, lawyers, doctors, businessmen, homemakers, teachers, and a laundry list of academics that will make any organization that opposes justice, a lot nervous. After the vote at City Council on Monday night, they are looking forward to the next fight. Like a rabid boxer who is coming off of a stinging defeat, they know other Middle Eastern issue will come and that the genocide will continue under the Biden administration. They are vocally sparring local Zionists when they protest Palestinian events, just for a chance at freedom and semblance that the government locally, at the state level, and federal level, might actually work for them someday. It seems like years away, but they are ready to tie up their gloves for round two. And this political fight is long game politics. Middle Eastern civil rights leaders have an unrecognized advantage that others do not notice on their side, Justice.

Anyone know where I can get empty oil containers around the area? Just drained a project car of it's fluids and need containers for them prior to taking to the proper disposal location. (Essentially just empty oil containers). Thank you
Are there any places the Rockford area that I can go and fire pottery?
We plan on going to an event on a Sunday night and looking for the best parking options. Thanks in advance!
Which gym do you like and why? I recently moved here from Austin, TX where I was active in the BJJ community. Ive been on hiatus for about a year and am ready to get back to it. Bonus points if there’s an all women’s class somewhere. Any input appreciated!
That’s all.
I'm in town for work; I did early voting back home, but since I'm not with friends this election, I was wondering if anyone knew of a bar or other group hosting an election watch party Tuesday night?
If it's not at a bar, I can bring whisk(e)y...
A buddy of mine is thing of buying an apartment building, but wants to know how important the HVAC setup is before committing that amount of money.
