My wife and I are moving to lacrosse in April. One thing we will miss about Denver the most is a cute group that just drinks and plays chess like it I isn't important. Not taken serious at all. I can't find and info on any good 21+ clubs out there so I'm just going to start one.
Have a chess.com account and want to help build a group up with us when we get there?
Hi I'm new to the midwest, born and raised in SoCal. I know fishing, skiing, etc are big deals out here but I've never done either having grown up in a warm city lol. Parents and grandparents are all big city people, so I never learned anything like that.
Is there anywhere I can take lessons and such? How would I go about starting as a completely clueless Californian?
Looking for the best the town has to offer
Who is the best bakery? Who is the best meat market/deli? Who is the best cheese maker? Who has the best breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Who has the best bar/hometown vibe?
I'm going to be in town a number of times to take care of medical issues and want to experience the best La Crosse has to offer while im there.
Any others recommendations are very welcomed.
Other than going to a movie and/or bowling, what are some teen date ideas? We live in the G-E-T district, so La Crosse, Ona, Holmen... I'm willing to drive them anywhere northward-ish.
Hi everybody! I posted this because I really need a new phone this one's being a pain in my butt. Could any of you recommend a good place to go for Black Friday to get the best deal on a new phone? Thank y'all so much and I hope y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Wishing you and yours a peaceful, good-food and football Thanksgiving Day off from work!
Anyone with experience/anecdotes about Viaro Health? I’m at a point with my health that I’ve had enough of the Mayo and Gundersen (now Emplify).
I checked out Neighborhood Clinic once but it was an experience that left me wondering how much they might get wrong. (For instance - They “Starbucks’d” my prescription antibiotic with a name that sounded like mine if you said it with missing teeth).
I just don’t want things to missed and as a patient, I want to be heard. Mental/emotional health, pain management, and growing older gracefully (physically able/capable) would be ideal. I get very tired of the answer that I can’t be helped with a surgery or some other intervention because I’m not an athletic specimen.
I AM a survivor of my previous obesity, various physical maladies, a broken back, and other major mental health stuff. We all deserve a place where we’re heard, respected, and advocated for.
Please share any thoughts or recommendations.
Am wondering how many restaurants are going to be open on Thanksgiving.
What’s worse, half the traffic lights in the City don’t work properly or drivers that drive slow or pay no attention?
Is there anywhere in LAX or surrounding that has a fish fry that isn’t beer battered?
Late edit; I wasn’t specific enough. I’m looking for fried fish that uses a cornmeal batter; not baked or broiled options.
Hi, new to town. I'm looking for info on cheap housing and jobs that pay same day. Any good resources on agencies or things of that nature would be greatly appreciated. Don't know if I'm posting the right place but this is the only forum I can find la crosse wi. Thank you for the reading hope you have a great day.
But seriously, does anyone know how this ended up here?
Insurance change and now trying to figure out where to go. Optical Fashions Eyecare Clinic or Visionworks?
I’ve been with Altra for like 5-7 years now, been in the market for checking out and trying a new credit union or bank. Altra has been okay, no bad experiences, but not much incentive to stay with them. Been thinking about maybe Associated Bank or Citizens State Bank. I refuse to bank with US Bank and Wells Fargo, heard nothing but nightmare’s. Open to other options.
So, an organization that I'm a part of wants to host a "Brunch Potluck Meeting" on December 7th. Originally, we were planning on hosting the event in the basement venue of the Main Street Library. However, this room is occupied on that day, so we need a different indoor venue for our brunch potluck.
Our event will be 2 hours long and we need a space big enough for at least 12 people.
What other indoor spaces are there in La Crosse that people can rent for a potluck?
Thank you.
Who has the best rotisserie chicken deals in town? I thought Kwik Trip used to have them for $6 on Mondays but not sure if they still do that
I've only ever been there for breakfast, is the lunch/dinner menu good too? Any specific dishes you would recommend?
Would love to hear your thoughts. 😍
Which cellphone service works well here with a strong signal in most spots? Like most of you, I don’t get a landline so good service inside these block wall homes is important. Who do you use?
anyone local do irrigation installation? looking for the knowledge and know how in a dyi installation. dm with email.
Does anyone know where any angel trees are in the area? I’ve been wanting to find one.
I recently moved to the area and was hoping to find some extra work on the side during the weekends or late afternoon/evenings. Does anyone know of any businesses hiring part time or people needing any help with odd jobs? I have a truck and don't mind getting my hands dirty but I also have an IT/software background and some experience with online marketing. Just trying to make some extra money for the holidays and integrate with the local community. I haven't really met anyone yet and don't know where to start.
Thanks in advance
Any tips on places that will take a collection of used books? Looking at some serious down-sizing here. Lots of novels, paperbacks, thrillers, mystery, sci-fi, old and new. Not really looking for money, just a good home rather than the trash bin.
I had never been to your fair city till a few weeks ago when my wife had her first appointment at Gunderson. We will be going back a number of times and we were very happy to learn about the thriving restaurant scene in town. Anyone have recommendations for lunch spots? There are so many cool looking options we don't know where to start. We are love all types of food and would love to know where the locals go. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
I had the chance to see the first Driftless Women in Music back in 2022 and it was one of my most viewed blog post. Boy I loved the night. I had a conflict in 2023, but made it this last weekend to the third edition. Here was my recap on 2022:
https://davesbasementtracks.blogspot.com/2022/11/daves-music-140-driftless-women-in-music.html
The 2024 stellar line-up for this year included:
Lyndsay Byrnes
Leigh Morgan Vorwald
Jody McGill
Amanda Fahey
Patsy Wellman
Ruth Wyand
Vicki Price
Personally I only knew Vicki’s music in advance of the event, but you should never let that stop you from going to this event, or any other as far as I’m concerned. Here's a sampler video of everyone but Lyndsay since we were just a little late for the 5:00 start. https://youtu.be/PYT-ubunoJw?si=V6IrGZfG5a3IkkLA
Fresh preferably, I'm looking to get cooking tonight
Hi all, curious if anyone in the La Crosse / Onalaska area has a suggestion for a family dentist. We aren't that thrilled with the one we have been using, but we think they are okay unless someone has a dentist they really value.
Any dental office/ dentist recommendations for a kindergartner and parents?
Edited to say THANK YOU! Some incredibly helpful suggestions have been given!
