Safety

I moved here in August…. Did this place used to be a lot safer/ less concerning ? Genuinely curious.

Political calls

Has anybody else been getting their phone spammed by the Van Orden campaign, political calls the last like five days? I have got like four a day from random numbers. It’s been supper annoying since they leave voicemails now .

We’re killing it with the early voting

The poll worker today said 40% of registered voters had voted before they opened the doors this morning. City Hall wasn’t packed when I was there around 4:30 but it was pretty busy. Nice work, La Crosse. But remind your friends to vote!

Theres a guy walking around in the neighborhood between West and 16th, King and Main, writing stuff down in front of houses with democrat leaning signs

Hes an older guy, in a greenbay jacket with a hoodie. I confronted him in front of my house and he ran off yelling anti-trump stuff with lots of profanity. very over the top reaction, but I saw him milling around writing stuff in front of a couple neighbors homes before and after- all houses with Harris/Walz signs or pro-democrat messages.

Not saying this guy in particular is gonna be a problem but I think by now we have all heard about low information voters choosing violence against the 'evil liberals', just be on your toes out there and be safe.

Restaurants serving traditional Thanksgiving dinner?

My wife and I are planning to be in La Crosse for Thanksgiving with my parents. It's a small group this year so we'd like to go out instead of cooking.

Does anyone know of any restaurants in the area that plan on serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year? Thank you.

Expiring Tomorrow-$110 Free Formula coupons-60 Similac and 50 Enfamil

Hi everyone! I have $60 worth of free Similac coupons and $50 of enfamil coupons. The Enfamil ones are expiring tonight and the Similac ones are expiring tomorrow. My husband is going to leave them in the formula aisle at Target. My daughter switched over to another brand (Bobbie) from Similac purebliss and enfamil gentlease. So we don't need them anymore. If you're looking for free formula coupons, or have someone in your life who is buying formula, head over to the Target in Onalaska, they will be there in the baby formula aisle. This is enough for about 6 weeks of formula. Enjoy!

Voting lines?

Has anyone done in-person voting yet? How long did it take? I’m hearing lots of other places have lines, even in places there aren’t usually lines. With scheduling around work, I’m trying to determine if I go to early in-person voting or go on the day of.

Beginner Event Planning/Catering Jobs?

Hello! I have recently planned a baby shower for my friend and realized how much I enjoy event planning. I set up all the food and deserts, and I received many compliments and was told to further pursue the career. Living near the La Crosse area, I wasn’t sure how high the demand is. I’d prefer to start working somewhere that needs an event planner, so I could begin to meet the clientele and gain some experience in the field. I’ve been looking at job postings at venues, restaurants, and hotels. I’m not sure where I should broaden my search. I have a few years of working experience at the same place- where I have baked, assistant managed, cake decorated, and done a little catering. I also think I thrive with in person interviews and applications, as I believe my conversational skills are strong. If anyone has any suggestions, or ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for taking the time to read!

reputable piercers ?

I was wondering if there were any piercing shops or places to get piercings done by reputable piercers. Don’t recommend proper pokes please! They told me to use aspirin paste, never told me about downsizing, and left out information about jewelry that could’ve led to infections, etc. so I’m trying to find a new place .

Hiking?

Howdy!

To give a brief summary, I'm an Iowan but for the last couple years i've been enamored by Wisconsin. I started watching all the Badger games after I took a road trip to Camp Randall and absolutely fell in love, the scenery, at least on the drive up, is great, and for the last couple years it's somewhere I've been thinking I would like to call home someday.

I am currently in college and would like to find a job in WI after that. I've been researching places to live up here that are

a.) Cool

b.) Relatively cheap (so not Madison)

c.) Relatively close to home (so not, say, Eau Claire)

La Crosse fits most of these categories (I don't particularly know about b.), so i'm trying to figure out a little more.

My girlfriend and I are avid hikers, what's the outdoors scene like? Are there many trails to walk on?

Also, just in general, what do you like about living in La Crosse?

Thanks in advance!

I’m considering starting a new, small business next year. What specialty store or services are missing and needed here?

What do you travel to go get that you wish was nearby?

Where to dispose of used engine oil?

I change the oil in our cars myself and used to take it to my uncle’s shop that had a waste oil heater before I moved here. Does anyone around here use one that would like the old oil?

Otherwise where can I dispose of the old motor oil? Thanks!

Any haunted houses, haunted corn mazes, haunted walks through the woods around here?

Where I grew up we celebrated this time of year by getting chased by a big guy with a chain-less chainsaw through the woods, visiting a house of horrors where we used each other as human shields when people dressed in consumes and fake blood tried to grab us, and taking a haunted hay ride through the woods where all the high schoolers set up elaborate horror scenes for us to witness… and would even chase our ride a little. What’s the equivalent of that around La Crosse County?

I know about the house of shadows in Sparta, but there gotta be more, right?

I don’t mind driving an hour or so out to the middle of nowhere.

What's the dating scene opportunities here?

I'm from outta town. About two hours. Where I'm from there's less than 5k people in my city, and most of them are retired old ladies. As a man in my late 20s I'm looking to expand my pool. What are some options? Any hobby groups that I could participate in once a month or two? Any good coffee shops or any other public places that are known for people socializing and approaching?

Clubs and bars would be last on my list. Preferably alcohol free.
