Weekly New Climber Thread: Ask your questions in this thread please

Please sort comments by 'new' to find questions that would otherwise be buried.

In this thread you can ask any climbing related question that you may have. This thread will be posted again every Friday so there should always be an opportunity to ask your question and have it answered. Middle-aged traddad sends first 5.12 on bolts

A few months back I began lifting weights for general health reasons, but the benefits to my climbing have been noticeable.

I've never really been than into projecting routes before in all my years of climbing, but friends encouraged me to give this one a go and it went fairly quickly. Super fun!

Route: Dracula (5.12a). Broughton Bluff. Portland, OR.

First outdoor fall-RRG

One move from the chains on what I think was “To defy the laws of tradition” 10a

I’m just a Jersey guy who got into climbing at my local gym about 8 months ago, and I feel so lucky to have finally made it out to the Red for a few really awesome days. Got off work on Friday, drove through the night, climbed Saturday through to Monday morning and then packed up and drove back home. I’ll be back at the end of may for another 5 days because I just can’t stay away.

“Breaking Rocks is Hard to Do.” Moores Wall, NC

Climber headed up an awesome, if somewhat under-appreciated, Piedmont moderate. Gotta love the wildly metamorphosed rock of one of the Southeast’s best crags! Taken from the gear anchor on Raise Hell.
