I am very new to raves. I have liked edm for a while, but I have no idea about any sub-genres. Someone asked me if I liked one sub-genre more than another and I kinda frozen then said I don't know the categories, I just like what I like. I was expecting some friendly ribbing about not knowing the music/being a newb but he said i was a 'good one and a keeper' to the guy i came with. Just confused on why the ignorance is a good quality i guess?
I was waiting in line for the shuttle bus to get from the parking lot to the rave and a Chad and his girl (25/26) cut in line behind me and my girl. So I called them out and told them to grow up. But nobody behind us really cared and let them in...am I the asshole?
I made a post about this already but here’s with the picture from the actual message itself. Supposedly there were two 2-day giveaway tickets. I was wondering if anyone had actually won these?
Ray volpe and sudden death doing a set for Halloween and they were dr robotnik and shadow the hedgehog fighting each other.
The audience is in a roller coaster. It gets lowered into a pit. Everyone rides around in a giant car while the drop is going. Everyone’s headbanging to heavy bass while the car is twisting and doing somersaults and shit.
Oh god please let this happen in real life somehow.
Hi! I'm very new to the rave scene. I've been an EDM girlie since I was young, but I'm in college now and want to go to raves. I plan to see ATliens at the Agora in Cleveland on Saturday, January 25th. I don't have any friends who enjoy EDM besides what they play at frats (John Summit). Is there anyone else within the 18-22 age range who plans to see them as well and would want to go together?
I got my best friend in the whole world into raving a few months ago. We've been friends since high-school and I love her very much. Today I woke up, opened Instagram, and saw that she had brought a few friends of hers with her to a show. One of which was a man who assaulted me as a child. I have accepted that she'll always be friends with him but have set boundaries that he isn't around me or mentioned in my presence. I thought that after telling her about being assaulted by somebody in the scene and how traumatic it was to even start getting back into it after my assault this May that it wouldn't even cross her mind to bring him. My one safe space has yet again been infiltrated by people who hurt me or want to hurt me. That man ruined my entire childhood I'm STILL not over what happened to me. And she brought him to my one sanctuary. I don't know what to do or how to bring it up because I really feel like I have to or it's gonna destroy me. I'll always be afraid that he's there and looking over my shoulder. I just started to stop feeling afraid at shows again and I just can't have anything. I feel so stupid for bringing her I should have known this would happen. Any advice?

Hi guys,
I’m debating on buying either a Crowd Compass or a Totem from Totem Labs for Coachella 2025. My rave group typically has a physical totem for rave events, but music festivals aren’t as totem friendly. I am not sure which one to buy. The price range for Crowd Compass is quite high compared to Totem Labs. I just wanted to hear your reviews on it if you have either items. Thanks 🫶
I’m new to raving. Escape was my first ever festival and I had the time of my life. My friends and I decided to go to countdown as well but they suddenly changed their minds. I still wanna go but I’m just having some concerns since I’ll be going alone (will probably be one with the lights and music as well iykwim). Just maybe need some tips and advice to gain confidence in raving alone. :) links to discord servers of solo ravers will be appreciated as well :D
I wanted to start by saying I am fairly new to raves, (been going for around a year and a half and have been to 6 so far) but holy shit apocalypse was so much fun! The food was decent, the music/lineup was AMAZING, and the group I was with was awesome. I rolled the first day, but honestly my second day I went sober and it was even better. Everyone around me was so nice, I was able to trade kandi for the first time, and got so many random trinkets. I side quested and helped a crying lost girl, met people named eric and ben (who were hella cool). It was Erics first rave and he lost his phone :/ poor dude. But I had a blast, and it was the most Plur I've ever felt at an insomniac event. Definitely tops any other event I've ever been too. They were super efficent about lines as well, and I hardly ever had to wait. Even the shuttle lines went hella fast. I will definitely be there again next year!
Hard to beat a good sunset set
Anyone else get stuck for a solid 30 minutes outside of the “Lab” stage at apocalypse yesterday? I couldn’t move and nearly had a panic attack because there was no real directions being given to move the crowd, we were just standing still packed against each other. Incredibly disappointed at insomniac for setting up the shuttle lines at the thinnest part of the venue and not actually giving proper guidance or direction to the crowd on what way to go. All I heard from any workers with bullhorns was “be safe, thanks for coming, and shuttle lines are right here”. Please tell me I’m not alone in being pissed at how poorly this was handled. It felt like there was about to be a riot just to leave the venue, absolutely terrifying.
My wife dropped her pink UV Flowstar : ( day 2
It was the twin to my yellow uv and had gone through so many shows together. It shall be missed!
Usually we just say its been donated to the rave but I figured I'd throw a hail Mary and see if any PLUR ravers out there might've found it.
Obviously will pay shipping and a tip for rescuing our poor flowy.
PLUR and remember the rave never stops!!!
I have been having an issue where only my right ear is ringing after a show. This usually goes away by the morning, but I am concerned that I am damaging my ears because of the ringing. I use the Loop Experience earplugs with size small, and they feel like they fit well. I bought a second pair of Loop Experience earplugs to see if it was an issue with my current pair, but I have the same issue with the new pair. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would appreciate it.
I just went to shrek rave in Jacksonville Florida at the underbelly. It was crazy being high as hell dancing and then the Dj table flipping over and the music shut off😦 i felt so bad but the vibe kinda flopped even more after that. My man and I didn’t really know what to do with ourselves after that haha. Not many people there, and I have to say the sets weren’t the best. It is a cute fun lil vibe but the shrek music wasn’t mixed well tbh. Very interesting crowd. All in my opinion tho and it’s just not what they project on the Instagram. Event may be better in well known bigger cities like NY fs. Definitely not a rave just a cute dance party, I sure missed my hippies lol.
Going there for my boys bachelor party this coming weekend; it’s about eight guys. Would love House / Tech house / EDM recommendation, but we’re also open to a bigger club / top 40 vibes for one of the nights. Ideally also wanna do a bottle service for one of the nights!
Thus far I’ve heard Departmento and Funk, and Funk being the favorite to get a bottle service.
Happy to learn more!! Gracias
what a night, daily bread buttered us up, zeds dicked us down.
Someone here (in r/aves) wrote: "How does taking video kill the dance floor? I see other people with their phones out and I'm dancing, it doesn't bother me the slightest. When I'm dancing, I don't notice other people unless their [sic] in my personal space."
I'm frankly surprised that the concept of "shared experience" isn't better understood, and I have a hunch that it may have to do with the overall erosion of social connections between people, a trend that's well documented in Bowling Alone, but that was accelerated during the social isolation phase of the pandemic, when many of today's baby ravers would have normally been getting acculturated to the norms of the shared spaces we like to rave in.
This should be obvious, but it's not: the dancefloor is a shared experience. What you do affects others.
Why would people get upset if someone chose to dance instead of stand with respect at a funeral? By the logic of "I don't pay attention what others are doing," nobody should care unless the person is dancing in your personal mourning space. But of course the logic isn't sound because the entire space is shared and the actions of others affect everyone.
Why did some folks get so upset when, instead of standing at attention, Colin Kaepernick took a knee?
Why would it be weird to stand in a church when everyone's kneeling? To stand in a classroom when everyone's sitting? To stand still on a walking path where everyone's walking? To chat loudly in a library? To fart in an elevator? To rev your engine loudly in a neighborhood in the middle of the night?
In shared spaces, we enter a social contract when we enter them, agreeing as we enter the space not to hurt the experience of others. Refusal to join the collective experience of a dancefloor is antisocial and undermines the collective effort to make the dancefloor happen.
Keinemusik at Hi Ibiza, October 2024 -- where phone zombies fucked the experience for everyone
been to other city and camping fests but not this one. anyone have any tips or can give a feel for the vibe? know it’s a nye deal so have to put up with that crowd but is it worth?
Alright rave fam, I recently started going to festivals and my feet are an actual bloody mess lol. Even with Hokas. Fav genre is DnB so lots of footwork. I have collapsed arches so my priority is on arch supports, but also for some reason I can't find shoes that don't wind up jamming my toes into the tip of the shoe when I dance even if I size up way beyond my foot length.
Any tips? I see lots of people with Vans/ Puma and Converse, but my Converses killed my feet after dancing for one day and I can't imagine Vans or Puma being much different.
I filmed them perfectly and I wanted to feature it on my profile, but looks like IG only took it down for people in Europe and I am Europe based, because a couple of people from US were able to see it but none of my friends from my country. It's not even muted, it's not visible at all, like I never posted it. Only I can see it and people from outside the EU, like I said before. I didn't get any notifications or anything saying that it's removed or copyright material which is fucking weird.
Does anyone have a similar experience where you really wanted to go see some DJ live, you record your absolute favourite moment where the euphoria is high as fuck and it looks like a perfect memory then IG completely blocks the video... Doesn't show up on story, doesn't show up under highlights... ?
