I wanna know which one to purchase 😭🙏
I’ve been on a Radiohead kick this week. After listening to Ok computer I wanted Kid A. I went down to my local record store to order it, but he already had it in hanging on the wall.
Now I’m sitting down with a good coffee listening to it while the kids are out on a play date. A great start to the weekend.
Found the B side of one of my new records had a misplacement of the label, and it covers half of the last song. Do these peel off decently or am I going to have a tough time removing it? I don't really care if the label itself ends up ruined, but I'm concerned that any leftover adhesive in the grooves could be a problem
Check your email/spam folder. If you don't agree to the additional charge by 11/14 your order will be canceled.
An album I've wanted for a long time. Saw it at my local Walmart, I couldn't pass it up. Highwaymen Live at Nassau Coliseum, perhaps the greatest live album of all time (in my opinion) by one of the greatest supergroups of all time. I am a pretty big fan of supergroups. Really wish the Wilburys had a live album, but it is what it is. Egos didn't get in the way, just 4 stars collaborating and having a good time. Only one of the Highwaymen is left now after the passing of Kris Kristofferson.
Since I have seen a lot of discussions about record grails, please allow me to share mine. Just arrived 10 minutes ago. It's the first album of Pink Floyd, the Piper at the Gates of Dawn, it is an original UK 1st press Mono on the famous blue and black Columbia label. And I have been wanting one for years. So one grail of my list and I can finally listen to this masterpiece of psychedelic and space rock in mono!!!
Newbie. Looking to set up a casual listening room. Room is 13x19 semi open on two walls. Thinking of a Fluance RT85 tt, Klipsch RP-150m speakers and a Fosi BT20A amp. Would like to keep budget at/under $1000. Anyone advice welcome. Thanks!🙏 🙂
If you are a fan of the Wu-Tang Clan, what is your favorite record? The debut is untouchable in my opinion, but after that, I probably give to Reakwons "Only Built for Cuban Linx" or GZAs "Liquid Swords".
Remember: Wu-Tang is for the children! 👐🏼
I use Discogs of my records, CDs, and tapes more for future insurance claims than anything else.
You probably saw u/DustSongs post about this, but I finally used their application to pull the covers of the vinyl part of my collection to share.
It’s visually pleasing, and it’s a better overview than if I took pics of my shelves (no plastic outer sleeves btw).
I started buying in the mid-90s when used records were a better price point than CDs (or even tapes). I got back into it more purposefully when COVID shut down concerts and hurt the kinds of bands I like to see on tour. Since I couldn’t see shows for a while, I bought records and tshirts direct from artists whenever I got the chance. I’ve continued to do that AND see as many shows as my budget allows.
Re-uploaded (deleted twice because of the stupid 300 character rule). Boy you should know that/I've got you on my mind/Your secret admirer/I've been watching you/At night I think of you/I want to be your lady maybe/If your game is on give me a call boo/If your love is strong gonna give my all to you 💋
I recently got an autographed copy of this Orgy of the Damned vinyl record from Slash and want to frame it for display. I bought a vinyl record frame and these Big Fudge inner and outer sleeves for extra protection, as suggested by some users here, but ran into a few issues:
Inner Sleeves: The LPs are already in black paper sleeves. When I tried inserting them into the Big Fudge inner sleeves, the paper started to crinkle due to friction with the plastic. It's a VERY tight fit, and I had trouble getting them more than halfway into the plastic sleeve without having to apply more pressure than I felt comfortable with. I’d prefer to keep them in the original black sleeves since I'm a bit OCD and like preserving the original materials. Do the black paper sleeves provide enough protection on their own, or should I try to fit them into the plastic sleeves anyway?
Outer Sleeves: The Big Fudge outer sleeves are supposed to fit double LPs (multiple reviews mentioned this and the product description mentions it as well), but when I tried to insert the Slash record, it was extremely snug and difficult to even get both edges of the record into the sleeve. Cutting the edges of the sleeves on each end helped a bit, but now the plastic is super tight against the album cover, which has me worried it could damage the artwork over time or make removal tricky, especially as I don't want any friction to cause smudges or damage the autograph.
Should I just frame the album as-is without the extra sleeves? I plan to use strong command strips on the frame, so I wouldn’t think weight would be a concern.
Any advice on how to approach this / avoid potential damage?
Thanks!
I have a bit of an issue with my vinyl. I like to go for the special editions mostly. The problem is, I never open, or play them.
Does anyone else have this issue? Do you get the standard edition too, or is life to short to give a **** and play them? I'm a grown man, and really should know better 🙈
A few from the collection.
I live in the UK so Kunaki doesn't ship here, does anyone have any good alternatives for vinyl?
So I wanted to see just how good my midfi system could possibly sound. It seemed to me that I should try one of those fancy 1/2 speed, stupidly expensive audiophile albums. Enter Dire Straits-Brothers in Arms. It was on sale for Prime day and I had some Amazon credit, so I got it for 25 bucks. I got the one mastered by Bob Ludwig. Somehow it is still a 33 speed record but now takes 2 records. Only two songs per side. It is simply brilliant, the mix is stunning. One of the best records I have ever heard, quality wise. I don't know how it compares to the original because I don't have it. But I would say that if you are wanting to try the whole audiophile vinyl thing , this is a great place to start. They cost to much for me to get into it too heavily (and I already have more albums than I can listen to) but I am thinking about DSOTM. Sorry for the long post, but I am jazzed and just had to tell someone and my wife didn't seem to be suitability enthusiastic.
Picked this up at a local record fair excited to give it a spin finally!
Is 25 a milestone? Not sure, but if it is I've just hit a milestone 🥳
And if not, at least it makes a nice even 5x5 grid.
I do have 3 records on pre-order though so this is a fleeting moment...
Bonus internet points to anyone who can guess which record I acquired today which took me to the magic 25
