If you had a jukebox, which records would you put in there?
Or, to those among us who actually do own a jukebox: which records do you have in there and on what occasions do you use your jukebox?
There is so much music from the 80s and 90s that I love, but I don't own those albums on vinyl. Some of my all-time favourite albums, which I bought on CD or tape, have not made it to my vinyl collection. Ever since I got into vinyl, I just haven't gotten around to it, and I'm not sure why. Am I the only one feeling this way or acting in this matter.
A few albums have taken me years to buy :
So I went to my first record fair yesterday, although "fair" is maybe overselling it a bit; it was basically a scout hut rammed full of trestle tables, groaning under the weight of records and CDs...
I must have dug through every crate in the place, I wasn't hoping for much but just as I was starting to lose hope I came across this beast.
Before and After Science is my second favourite Brian Eno album (after Bush of Ghosts) and although the cover is showing its age (it is from 1977 after all) the record itself is super clean. What a score 🤘
I haven’t ordered anything from them since one bad experience a couple years ago but they must have mass e-mailed the following to everyone on their list:
We Messed Up – Here’s What’s Happening
Dear Sentinel Vinyl & Disc Vault Customers,
If you have an unfulfilled order or are waiting on a refund, please read this email in ITS ENTIRETY. It's a long read, but please read it.
Let’s be upfront: We fucked up.
First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the lack of communication over the past few months. We know many of you have been frustrated, wondering if we’re a scam. Yes, we’ve seen the Reddit threads, the Trustpilot reviews, and the BBB complaints. We completely understand the criticism and take full responsibility (although we don't condone the death & malicious intent threats that some of you like to fill our inbox with).
To be clear: We are not a scam. However, we dropped the ball as a business, made poor decisions, and now find ourselves in a challenging position. Many of you are still waiting for your orders or refunds, and our customer support team has been moving far too slowly. We want to take this opportunity to explain everything honestly and outline the next steps.
How We Got Here: A Series of Bad Decisions
Massive, Unexpected Order Surge
Until late 2023, we were a small team of 2-3 people, working from a 750 sq. ft. office, handling about 20-50 orders per day—manageable, but still a lot for our small staff. Out of nowhere, order volume skyrocketed to 1,000+ orders per day. We assumed the surge would slow down—it didn’t. Trying (and Failing) to Keep Up
We hired 30+ employees, expanded to a bigger warehouse, and overstocked inventory to keep up. We kept accepting new orders despite being overwhelmed. The faster we tried to move, the more chaotic everything became—fulfillment was too slow, emails piled up, and customer service collapsed. The Costly Aftermath
After nearly a year of struggling, we stopped accepting new orders to catch up. We realized we had overspent on staff, warehouse space, and inventory—leaving us barely able to process refunds and fulfill existing orders. To cut costs, we downsized back to just two people (to handle all emails and fulfillment), but we were still buried under thousands of emails and pending orders. The Failed Merger with Disc Vault
To try and fix things, we merged with Disc Vault, a larger company with multiple music-related stores. The goal was to help with staffing and fulfillment, but it only made things more complicated.
We did adopt their policy of not charging upfront for new orders, but ultimately, the partnership cost us more than it helped. So, we stopped using their fulfillment services and are now operating independently again—just using their website.
Where We Are Now
We’re severely understaffed (just two of us left). We’re underfunded and still way behind on orders and refunds. We considered shutting down—but that would leave customers without their money or orders, and we refuse to do that. Being slow isn’t ideal, but it’s better than closing entirely.
Our Solution: Free Orders for Affected Customers
Instead of slowly issuing refunds one by one, we’re taking a faster and fairer approach.
We’ve created a 100% off discount code for customers with pending unfulfilled orders.
How It Works
If you have unfulfilled items or a pending refund, use the discount code at checkout to get replacement items for free. If your order has already been fully fulfilled, please do not use the code—we need to prioritize those who are still waiting. One use per person. Please don’t create multiple accounts to exploit this, as we have limited stock. Limit of 3 records per order, unless the value of your unfulfilled items exceeds that. Example:
If we owe you $75 worth of items, you can order up to 3 records that total around $75. If we owe you $500 worth of items, you can place a larger order, and we will verify your order history. If someone tries to abuse this by ordering more than they’re owed, we will only fulfill what we actually owe you. If you don’t have any outstanding unfulfilled items and still use the discount, your order will be skipped, and the inventory will go to someone still waiting for their items.
Important Notes
All items on the website are currently in stock and will ship within a few days. If an item sells out before we can update the site, we will remove it from your order, email you, and allow you to reorder something else. Please leave a note in the new order referencing the removed item. This email will also be posted on our homepage for customers who didn’t receive it. We know this might feel like extra effort on your part, but given our current situation, this is the most effective way to help as many customers as possible.
Final Thoughts
We know this doesn’t fully make up for the delays, frustration, and lack of communication. We don’t expect forgiveness, but we hope you understand our situation.
We will not be responding to emails much—every minute spent answering emails takes time away from fulfilling orders. Just place your order using the discount code, and we’ll work as quickly as we can.
Thank you for your patience.

This is my review of Mainstream records “ The shop on the main street “ . I urge everyone to listen to it , it is truly a masterpiece by Zdenek Liska. I especially like that the music shifts from a happy waltz to scary choir music. The only bad thing about this record is that some of the music pieces repeat , for example the waltz is there 3 or 4 times with no changes ( except the last one which shows desperation and fear) If you want to listen to it without buying the record you can find the whole soundtrack and the film on YouTube
I was in a dark car and wanted to get a better view of the matrix number on this PCL record I just purchased, so I took a few pictures of it from different angles with my camera flash on. I absolutely did not expect to see this gorgeous rainbow sheen on the record once I looked back over the pics, but it's pretty cool to see and I'm glad I captured it!
(Power, Corruption & Lies original U.S. pressing by New Order)
I picked up and put down this record probably 30 times because I didn't need to spend the money. Added it to my Christmas list this year and was delighted to receive exactly what I asked for! I think I need to get more light in here but was able to film with my android in "Pro Video" 30 fps and 1/350
Hey just want to hear feedback. Feeling pretty proud of where my collection is at but would love to hear from folks.

What are some of your favorite zoetrope albums
Nick Drake- Five Leaves Left (2013 remastered, disappointed in the recording volume on this press. I have to crank the system up every time I put it on it's so quiet😔) Neil Young- Comes a Time Corto.alto- Bad With Names Pachakuti & young.vishnu- Dédalo Banda Black Rio- Maria Fumaca & Super Nova Samba Funk Loathe- I let it in and it took everything Karnivool- Themata The Smashing Pumpkins- Greatest Hits (a stand in until I get some OG pressings)
Check out Corto.alto and Pachakuti, two banger multi instrumentalists with great albums!
Why oh why aren't they in the Rock and Roll Hall of Game? They are the best, more than just Love Shack though Love Shack is wonderful. Dance This Mess Around made me finally realize how New Wave could have possibly derived from Punk Rock. Ricky Wilson was a legend and may he rest in power. Cindy Wilson has one of the best screams in music history.
All I know is before I talk, I should read a book.
I am a new collector and have a very shallow collection but a relatively deep musical knowledge. Although only in certain genres that I like. For example I know almost nothing about Rap/Hip Hop, Pre - 2000s RnB, Rock, Techno, and Pre 2000s - Post 1980 Indie.
I would love to know this community's favorite records ( the gems in your collection ) so I can not only deepen my musical knowledge overall but learn more about the community too.
For context I am gen z but vinyl has changed my life just as it has for older folks. I'm not sure what the age demographic here is but i geniunely agree with the folks that say that vinyl is the way music is meant to be enjoyed. It's like a fine wine. The smell of the cork and the waft of an aged vintage red hitting the nostrils. I used to go from record shop to record shop buying classic dance records. Generally would avoid stuff like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Cure and The Smiths as those are extremely overrated and remind me of my miserable old man. Also a bunch of cynical hipsters (millenials right?) have put the price of those original pressings through the roof. I'm all about rare groove, soul, disco, funk and boogie. The snaps and crackles of a shite pressing geniunely sounds better than a 320kbps mp3.
I distinctly remember my beloved copy of Donna Summer's 'I Remember Yesterday'. First of all the sleek, flawless production and orchestration of the album is a classic example of peak Summer and Moroder. Second of all I remember busting a nut to the back cover so many times. It's like i had an actual love affair with Donna and she was my gf during those lonely years.
Streaming is so overrated, zoomers dont know what theyre missing.
Been a huge fan of them for a while and know they’ve released their album in CDs but heard they released their albums in vinyl too. Been searching all over and haven’t found a single trace. Is there like bootleg versions going around or is it just that hard to find
Made a post about ring wear a few weeks ago and was downvoted. Not sure why so I deleted it fairly quickly. Trying again.
Curious to see what people do to prevent ring wear. The more I look at records in my collection, the more I’m noticing ring wear. Is there a good way to prevent this from happening? My whole collection is in Kallax shelves. I’m getting worried that eventually all of my records will have this issue.
On top of this, when selling, I always list the ring wear issue and how bad it is. Looking to see how everyone else grades jackets with ring wear. I typically do VG+ if it’s slight.
hey guys, as the title says, are there any things, tips, tricks - whatever, that you would have liked to know beforehand about and inside the world of vinyl? i’m getting into it and collected around 70 vinyl in 2024, and now, in a few days, i’ll buy my first player, which will be the legendary technics SL1200-MK2 in near mint condition!! i’d love to hear from you, have a wonderful day.
EDIT: my two uses for this are listening and sampling via my macbook, with the main thing (for now) being listening^^
I had a huge record collection at one time, about 20,000 records, I lost my house two Memorial days to a fire, I salvaged about 3000 records from the fire. The problem i am facing is that some of the records are perfectly fine, but some have little trace amounts of mold inside of the outersleeves, should I be tossing these outersleeves, or can I do anything to salvage them
wendy carlos's "switched-on bach" is such a cool piece of music history, imo a prime example of early electronic music. this is one of those records where the history is just as important as the music on the record-- this woman worked alongside robert moog (of moog synthesizer fame) and reportedly put 1100 hours into this album, which i've seen referenced as an ancestor to electronic and techno music today. i gasped audibly when i came across this one and would've kicked myself if i'd left without it. not the rarest or most sought-after records but one i was really excited to have found-- right as i was about to give up the search for the day. took it home, cleaned it up, and gave it a new sleeve so it'll stay nice and safe
Just thought I'd share my recent purchases. Watched the last waltz for the first time and man i cant stop listening to the Band. Ofjwoaksndheowkdndkekenskfjdjejsofjdndjfjfjdbekekdjdkdjdjdjdjdjdjdjsnwksodkdnwjwjdjdjdjejsjdjdjdjsjsjsjsjxndjejejejdjdkdieiqoaowjrieoekdjfifkejejejejsjsjsjskdjdjdjdjdjfjdjejejejejejdjdjsjeiejejejejeiejejejdjdjdjdjdjejwiajsjsj hopefully thats 300 characters.
Some second hand vinyl I got today, think I got ok prices? They are all VG+ id say. Includes level 42 - Staring at the sun, Eurythmics-We too are one, Jackson Browne-Saturate before using, Best of Simon and Garfunkel, and ELO-Time. Bottom 2 are my favourite but I've bought them for the music not investments so they don't need to be rare.
Hey all, Pretty new to this hobby and I live in the middle east where shipping to usually costs a lot of money. I would appreciate any suggestion on websites/online stores that you guys order from and possible free shipping (although i doubt it). Im somewhat obsessed and what to grow my collection rapidly.
Thanks in advance
Hello everybody! I have been a long collector of vinyl and CDs. I have been collecting since i was 14 (am 56 now) and do own quite some records. Also sold a lot. I had a lot of collectors which i sold on discogs for good prices to buy my first house, but there is enough left. I also own 3000 CDs. I use a Technics SL1210 MK2 to spin my records.
Any questions? Just ask!
