Thought it would be an interesting question. I’m also new to this so I’m trying to find a good place to get them from
I have an edison amberola 30, I happen to run out of traditional oils, I'll get the recommended ones soon, but i was just wondering if olive oil would work, a semi thick lubricant. I know it works well to coat and keep cast iron slick, I'm just curious. I promise to not do anything dumb.
Yesterday me and my brother were messing with each other and I handed him a piece of a broken four minute amberol cylinder. He knew what it was and Jokingly took a bite. He spit it out but accidentally swallowed a tiny piece. I told him that he will be fine. Today, he feels like crap and and has a fever dream. Could this be because of it? Please no hatred for this dumb dilemma and serious answers only.
I plan on getting a standard model x but I want to change the turntable spindle so a Regular one. How would I do this?
A 33RPM common Vinyl in inch is probably:
Diameter: 12
inner hole: 0.286
radius of innermost groove: 2.35
radius of outermost groove: 5.75
record heigh/thicknesst: 0.06
I require those values for an acoustic era 78s records. Thank you :D!
Hi all !
I'm currently searching a gramophone, and I don't want to have a fake one.
I've seen a lot of them are fake, and now I can mostly recognised when it's a fake one.
But I'm not sure about this one in the pictures, seen in a music shop. It seems legit and in great working condition.
What do you think, it may be a swiss/german made gramophone.
It's very expensive that's why I want to be sure.
This is a re release of a duke ellington track pressed in 1943, which is considered to be past the safe point for records to be played on a phonograph. Ive heard that Brunswick records had better quality shellac during this time and could be played on an acoustic machine, but im not sure. What do you guys think?
Someone I know has a phonograph and the tone-arm is missing, not just the needle but the entire tone arm, is there any way I could buy a tone arm? Or would I have to Salvage one? It appears to be a Starr phonographic that helps
Hey everyone, I just got a Model A Home in the mail, seems to work fine, however, only when the bedplate is up though. When I lower the bedplate the motor stops running for some reason. Not really sure what to check, there doesn’t seem to be anything blocking the gears or motor when it is shut.
Thanks ahead of time for any tips!
It has 4 holes and is only recorded for a quarter of the record.
So back when I was very uneducated about phonographs, I thought my Edison was broken because of the sound warble. Turns out all I needed was a new belt! 😅(the video goes from before I replaced the belt and after I replaced the belt)
