Hi
I saw an insta post and a lady had taken phono cables to mini jack (3.5mm plug) and then had a mini jack to lightning cable which she put into her iphone.
She then played a vinyl record on her turntable and opened her iphone camera and the audio from the mixer was capture in her iphone not via microphone.
I am wondering how to do this, I tried REC OUT and MASTER OUT and can't get the audio in to the iphone.
Any ideas?
This might be a long shot but I want to see if I can identify a record that a friend used to have. Unfortunately I am no longer in contact with them.
Back in 2006ish, we were scratching together and he had a purple breaks/scratch record that had an awesome hip hop beat that had a heavy bass kick with an electro tone on the kick drum.
Does anyone have any purple scratch records that might help me identify what I'm after?
I will try and find a similar beat if I can but would love to identify the record so I can find this beat again to cut to.
Does anybody where I can find this beat/looper?
Ready to order a pair. It seems the Jico’s are about the same price or even less than the ortofon scratch which I burnt through in about a year or less. Thoughts??
First routine I've ever learnt! I like it so much so spend so much time on it. Feel free to discuss or giving advice!
I have my setup hooked up to a single power strip that I turn on and off to power everything while keeping my turntables switches in the on position. Today I was going to try out some new record on my left deck and the turntables led indicators for speed switch and quartz lock were not turned on and the motor would wobble the patter back and forth (my record light was on so it was getting power).
Anyone have this issue and can save me a trip to a repair guy? I am handy with a soldering iron and can do easy component replacements. I also have the wiring diagrams.
Hi all - currently mix with two sl1200s and a djm850
Looking to upgrade my mixer and speakers soon (currently use DM40s which I’ve grown old of)
First things first though, I really need to improve audio quality.
Currently using two very old Ortofon Concorde Pro S cartridge/stylus combos.
Question is this: upgrade to Mix/Clubs cartridges or just buy two new Pro S styli to replace the current ones?
Are there any big differences if sound between the two in your opinions?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give :)
So I’ve been thinking about getting a Rane 70 mixer, but I have found a website selling the Rane72 MK ONE* way cheaper , just wondering des the Rane 72 MK ONE work fine with everything like the current version of Serato? If so I’ll probably get the 72!
For example, FlexFX, can I have the reverb pre-fader? If so, how and where is that option?
Hey friends,
I'm pretty new to the game, and I'd like to be able to spin outside of clubs - houses, parties, etc.
I have a Technics 1200MK7 with a pair Ortofon DJ Concorde MKII carts. I'm planning on getting another 1200MK7, so really (aside from the sound system), that leaves me with the mixer.
I generally tend to spin indie sleaze (Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Justice, etc) and love beat matching and getting hard cuts in tempo, so I don't think rotary mixers are for me? (Someone prove me wrong if that's possible)
So I'm looking for a bare bones mixer with phono preamps that are better than "not great". Basic EQ, linear crossfader, maybe a global filter.
Seems like most of the 'modern' stuff wants to be able to do both phono and digital and the phono preamps get pretty rough on a larger system. I like the idea of the Ecler Warm2, but I'm not sure rotary would work with wanting to do hard tempo matched cuts. Seems like the Ecler Nuo2.0 could be cool if I could find one?
Anyway, would love any and all suggestions while hoping to keep it under... maybe $750?
Thanks all!
EDIT: Got an Ecler Nut 2.0 from Thomann Music, and I'm so thrilled with it. Thanks all!
It reminds me of a kinda odd question I came to myself weeks ago that is: 'what if turntables were made to spin towards left instead of right?' I felt is kinda stupid because duh it'll only mirror or hand position on records(I think), DJ's like P-TRIX were enable to put draw back sounds into the juggle pattern, but that was manualy draw back. So what I mean is, with turntables that has function to spin back automatically to reverse the sound, could people juggle with it? and switching left and right spin direction to combine reversed patterns and normal patterns. Could this (small) possibility be the next direction that competitors working on?
The whole event felt like it was improvised. For me the worst organized DMC in years. Full of cringe moments like Bob Sinclair on cdjs, Tony singing Elvis, the shows... out of order. Also how they focus on french dj's on the DMC history, no disrespect to the legends but another instance to show french nationalism...all together was a mess. What's your thoughts on this?
Regarding my post 2 Days ago. I now found out that this bar is the problem because it keeps skipping to this point. In cue mode it keeps on creating a cue here. Is there a way to fix it or turn this feature off?
Hey guys, I need help finding a scratch mp3. It was maybe a minute to 3 minutes long. It had one shots from all the most popular rap songs of the last few years, like Kendrick's not like us and a few others.
I can't remember the name of it and I can't seem to find it, I feel like it was called scratch vol 2. I remember it was volume 2.
If you know this or can link me to it please help!
Thank you :)
I feel like Swizz got robbed. Fly’s set was mad corny and forgettable
how does the cross 12 compare to using phase ? which is the better option to put money into
Yesterday at our club the left turntable started glitching out and jumping back and forth. Restarting it didn’t work so we proceeded the night with only playing on the right turntable. Today my father (the owner) tried installing the latest firmware version onto it but then it showed this message. Can someone help me out with this problem?
VHS 📼 collection
Ordered early on the set of the 30th anniversary dirystyle records. I don't have a decoder so if someone will let me know what it says please do. I noticed he hasn't posted a video for this and the square, circle, x marking is swapped for something that looks like a 12.
I will soon have 2 Rane 12 MKII controllers and a Numark Scratch mixer. To connect everything to work with Serato on a laptop, will I connect each Rane 12 to the laptop via USB and then separately connect the mixer to the laptop via USB?
It looks like the Numark Scratch only has one USB-B port which I assume is for connecting it to the laptop.
I'm planning on using USB mode and not DVS via RCA at this time, but I would be interested in hearing any reasons on why I should change this.
I'm afraid to spend $400CAD on Jico J44A-7s, and I've seen a bit said about the 605 and how the sound is shit, but it tracks very well - since I only need tracking, I'm not concerned about the sound quality. The carts are very affordable on eBay compared to old M44As, J44As, or anything by Ortofon, so I'm optimistic about this choice. Opinions?
Hello there, newbie here. I’m looking for a turntable+mixer with a budget around 500€.
I'm a 30 year old beginner who wants to learn how to scratch hip hop, and I finally have the money to do it. I've read some threads about the turntable vs. portable turntable debate, and I'm going with the former option for the long term.
Anyone with any suggestions on which specific product to buy would be welcome
I’ve always wondered. From Over by Portishead.
Anybody know where I can just buy the caps fader caps by themselves for the numark scratch mixer?
This question doesn't apply to the traditional two turntables and mixer recording routines and sets or multiple dj's recording a routine or set using four turntables and two mixers. I'm curious how one dj would record and mix a song that clearly has multple layers of scratches playing simultaneously.
How did a DJ record a song with several layers of scratches playing simultaneously in the 90s? Here's an example from one of my favorite compilations, Return of the DJ Vol. 2
Along a similar thread, how did DJs in the 90s mix and record tracks that have more than two layers of samples/sounds from records playing simultaneously?
