I used tor a few days ago just fine but now it won't connect. Also looks like it stops loading when trying to connect to a bridge. I use at&t. Do they block tor users in the US?

Hey guys, i’m interested on browsing tor on a macbook 2020. The reason i’m asking is that the macbook is pre m1, and has an intel core i3 processor. I’m just wanting to go on dread at the least, as I hear it’s similar to reddit but without the restrictions. Would I be able to run tails? If I don’t click any links on dread, am I able to have my information leaked by just browsing different sections of it? Because onion sites can't use WebCrypto, so they don't have access to native functions for encryption, they don't have a good random number generator (Crypto.getRandomValues()), they can't use WebAssembly, and they have to rely on often dubious one-man-show javascript libraries.

When I use an official twitter's onion domain it redirects me to the regular 'x' domain. The Tor browser also shows a warning about invalid SSL certificate for this domain. If I choose to ignore the warning, it redirects me to 'twitter.com/x/migrate' and finally to 'x.com'.

Another issue is that I can't normally use x.com. It asks me to verify I'm not a robot all the time.

How do you access twitter via Tor network? What should I do?

For reassurance, is this ok to do? it's halfway through the blockchain and it's shown up on transcations on the btc page, but I am guessing it won't show in balance until confirmed, is this right?

Using the Tor browser to connect to everyday websites can be a pain in the ass because exit node IP addresses are often recognized as such and access to the site denied.

But what about using a Proxy / VPN server and connecting to it over Tor? Using the IP address of a VPS instead of the exit relay IP could mask that I'm using Tor, no? This would involve buying a VPS (pick a random one from kycnot.me and pay with monero) and setting it up as a Proxy / VPN. I'm not really sure what would be needed for local configuration but I'd imagine it would involve setting Tor as your proxy. But what steps would be required to make the Tor traffic go through the VPN afterwards?

Is anybody using a similar setup? Is this even a valid thing to do or am I overlooking something?

EDIT:
openvpn has the cli argument --socks-proxy which takes a host and optionally a port. In the .ovpn configuration file for the vpn you would specify the connection to first go through the tor service running on your local machine (--socks-proxy localhost 9050).
