This is a subreddit for fishermen who like to widen their approach and seek the little things in life. Whether you're fishing micro species or just baby fish, this is the subreddit for it all.

Welcome to r/MicroFishing

Micro-fishing is the pursuit of small commonly overlooked fish that are usually less than six inches in length. This type of fishing requires innovative and unusual angling tactics as many species rarely exceed two inches as adults. Understanding methods of micro-fishing opens the angler up to a wide variety of new species of fish often overlooked with conventional tackle.

With micro-fishing you can catch hundreds of fish most anglers are unaware of. Since the typical angler catches less than twenty species of fish over his lifetime the possibilities are tremendous.

The goal of this subreddit is to educate fishermen and the general public about micro-fishing. Currently, little information exists in the United States and Canada on this subject.

Does this guy count?

Went fishing with some friends to my usual spots but didn’t have any luck except for me with this little guy. Kinda surprised because I was using a shad flyie about 2.5 inches long on a drop shot while everyone else was using worms

What are the arguments for invasive species catches?

Hey y’all,

So I was at one of my regular spots on Buffalo Bayou in Houston, and was busy catching a bunch of fish, including the Rio in the photo.

I’ve always been a catch and release kinda guy, with the exception of when I’m spearfishing in California.

Question: What are the arguments, for and against, re-releasing invasive fish like Rios? Invasive carp are here to stay, but I’ve never once considered killing one. For whatever reason, it feels a bit different when I found out about Rios yesterday. It’s a super beautiful fish, but I feel somewhat obligated to do what’s best for the native bass, bluegill, redfish, etc fisheries.

My personal bio: SoCal raised sushi chef living in Houston. I mostly fly fish, but will top water frog on a baitcaster in the hot summer and use a Texas jig when the flies aren’t appetizing to the bass.

Would someone ship me some madtoms before winter really hits?

I've been trying to catch some for a little while now and just haven't had much luck and while I'm not gonna stop searching, I know some of y'all have so much you use them for bait I was just curious if I could pay someone to mail me a couple in Nampa Idaho
