Every thing Crappie

So year before last was my first time catching crappie, I fell in love with it immediately of course. Anyways I did great in pond while they are spawning. But I’m lost after that and can’t hit a lick in a lake on them. PLEASE give some tips!! I prefer to use jigs but as I said any info is welcome.
I have a YouTube channel (FishSurge). I am trying to catch crappie for a video I only have rivers with heavy moving current in my area what should I do??
Getting used to Crappie fishing and inherited a lot of soft plastic tubes.
Would it be beneficial to put these on a small 1/8th jig head or tube jig and put it below a slip bobber this spring?
Concerned it won’t have enough lifelike appeal to get bites like that.
It seems the only time I’m any good at catching crappie is during the spawn. I’m only running 2D sonar. Yesterday, the water temps where I am were 51, 53 in the creeks, but the creeks are still dead. My assumption is they’re still on brush piles deeper out. What are some tips you guys have, or, how do you decide where to fish on any given day? What is more important, wind blown banks, depth, I just don’t know where to start when looking at lake maps.
I'm mainly an inshore and bass angler, but I've targeted crappie (sac a lait down here in south Louisiana) over the past few years with a little bit of success, but I want to start really going after them this year.
So, for a relatively inexperienced crappie angler, what would you suggest in both soft plastics and hard baits. Note that I'll be fishing exclusively from the bank and my kayak and that the water down here is a little dingy, but not exactly chocolate milk.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
Happy New Year Y’all!! Wanting to buy myself a serious Crappie Jig setup. Was wondering what y’all’s go to is? I understand it depends on various situation (Water Depth, What Structure your fishing, etc.) I’m looking more towards light casting or dock shooting instead of dropping straight down. Any feedback is appreciated though! Tight lines!
