I love the finesse techniques and I love power techniques. If anyone has any experience with the reel, let me know what you think of the reel.
I think painting green perch is one of the more challenging patterns. The combination of colors and patterns can be tricky to get right, especially when it comes to capturing their natural appearance.
Started with a spinning reel, wanted to get into baitcasters. I have a simple setup, 7ft Shimono Caius. Now I need to decide what line to go with. I keep it simple, usually throwing weightless wacky rigs and crank/jerk baits. I’ve read that flouro lines are best for anything that needs to sink, while braid or mono is best for topwater. Should I go for a flouro line on the baitcaster if I’m not planning on topwater fishing with it? Anything helps.
The winds have been around 20-23mph with gusts up to around 39mph the last few days. I love casting into the wind from the bank on days like these. You're almost guaranteed a bite. The fish all seem to be super strong too in these conditions. Don't neglect the windy days, especially in the fall! I'm a bank fisherman, I wouldn't mess with high winds on a kayak or boat!
What are these clear plastic hairs on this jig? Won’t they interfere with allowing the bass to hit the hook?
Hi all. Looking for some advice before I go on my first time saltwater trip in the kayak. Full time bass fisherman and never had to worry about the salt, so want to make sure I don't screw up my gear? Is this something I should avoid all together? Go buy a new cheap spinning reel at academy and treat it like a throw away? Or is it okay to use my bass reels and just rinse them afterward? Idk. Any advice welcome!
Nicer reels - Shimano Curado DC, Scorpion MGL 151HG, Shimano Scorpion MGL 151 HG, 13 Fishing Concept A, Daiwa Fuego LT (spinning)
Cheaper reels - Lews Carbon Fire, Abu Black Max, Pflueger President (spinning)
Someone gave me advice throw "any topwater" so I plan to throw a super spook on a baitcaster.... and a Gulp white/chartreuse shrimp under a popping cork, which I plan to throw on a spinning reel. Let me know if this is okay or if I'm going to ruin my good bass gear. Thanks so much!
An old picture of my Grandpa and I when I was little.
I was in a local bass masters tournament recently in Greenwood Lake NY. I was having a great day, had 4 nice small mouth for about 13 lbs. This is where it gets weird. I really had to take a dump. I waited as long as I could but when you have to go right? So I hang off the back of the boat & proceed to start doing my business. I was mid dump when a HUGE small mouth latched on to the crap hanging out of my ass. It scared the Christ out of me so I jumped up & twisted away & actually flung the fish into the boat. I finished pooping & then weighed the fish. It was 11 pounds!!! So when I got to the weigh in of course I included it. I was the winner by a large margin. The tournament director called me aside & asked me about the lunker & I told him the story. He freaked out on me & disqualified me. I thought that was bullshit. Now I’m banned from all bass master tournaments until 2029.

Hey all, looking for YT channels that can help learn how to fish rivers properly. Usually channels I see are more gears towards lakes.
Question I generally find myself asking is where do bass go different season when living in a river.
How does current flow impact feeding etc
EDIT: looking for educational style similar to “tacticalbassin” VS just watching someone fish
And you already know I couldn't find my scale 😂😂
