There has been a lot of discourse over the past several years about Miami's breakdowns in the third quarter as a general trend. I wanted to investigate this a bit, so I compiled the net rating splits of each quarter across Spo's tenure as coach (shown in table). Overall I think there was a very consistent trend from the departure of the Big 3 era up until the start of the Butler era (no dominant star player era). From that point on, I think we are mostly talking about confirmation bias based on the previous trend (though third quarters have been super rough so far this year).

When I heard the rumor earlier I ignored it , but now seems like it’s kinda some truth to it and from what I been seeing the reason why Giannis said Miami and Brooklyn is because Nets have the money , however they don’t have the assets Miami has. So this plays into Miami hands. Giannis also let the bucks front office know before the season started that he would want to be traded if things didn’t workout by flipping the narrative by saying if I don’t play well bucks might trade me. Now it’s a waiting game.

I get the feeling most of the people here are young. I bet my reddit accout is older than some of you(16 years). I’m the same age as d wade. Let me tell you what happened to me well before I was Jimmy’s age. I got stiff. You start moving with concrete blocks for feet. You run like ozzy osbourne. Until you get warmed up. When i go out for a run its about 2 miles now before I’m even loose. And if I run hoops its about a whole game. Eventually you do get loose and become yourself…until you sit down. If you go back out a 2nd time, its wayyy worse. You sort of don’t ever want to cool down once you get going. This is why Jimmys best game so far was the one where he stayed in with the 2nd unit. He can still go it just has to be managed. He looks stiff out there, especially in the first and fourth. I think he’s more likely to retire than get a max deal after this season.

It’s not that Jimmy is disinterested, or doesn’t want to be on the heat. He’s just stiff. He’s had a season ending injury multiple times with the heat, but never offseason surgery. He can get it going but it’s at the sacrifice of the next game. It’s been this way for a while!

We keep changing the cast but the song remains the same. The offense is turrible when you have a stiff jb. The podcasters call him disinterested or passive. He’s just old, man. And he would be coming off the bench if he wasn’t a future HOF candidate. The starting 5 is just not going to be it.

If we tank this year I won’t be surprised but this is what I would do to salvage it.

1. JB has got to be managed to where he comes off the bench in the 3rd and plays until the end of the game. We can’t go down early in the third and we can’t have him hitting his stride with 5 minutes left in the game. I don’t care if he starts the game or not, he’s just gotta be warm when the 4th starts and not starting the 2nd half. And it would be nice if he rode a bike on the sideline before he came in. I know its not “cool” but find a way to make it cool. Have K Love next to you on tandem bikes or something. Then check in together.

2. Spo’s 13 active needs to include the summer league champs. You get your starting 5, 3 subs, and those 5. If the starters are stinking it up, you pull a gregg popovich and sub in the summer leage champs all 5 at once. This will create some healthy competition, but also those kids can ball. It will make the season worth watching. To be clear, I’m talking about KJ, Pelle, Ware, Josh Christopher, and Jaime or Dru Smith who should already be active.

I realize that Spo isn’t playing them now because he wants them available later, but something has to be done. We do NOT want to be drafting this year, we need our pick to convey or it screws up all our future picks.

Is it worth it to pay 20 bucks a month for fan duel streaming? I’m trying to find a better way to stream games rather than using streameast or paying for cable. The streaming sites are always hit or miss for me and I want a better source to watch the locally broadcasted games
