I use this subreddit a lot for what brands to buy and which purchases are worth it. I wanted to give back in some way :D
I was inspired by the concept of shopping more sustainably and purchasing higher quality pieces that cost more but last longer. However I also know that its always a bit scary to buy expensive pieces especially online not knowing if its worth it. I feel like all the online fashion content we consume on Youtube can be disingenuous at times as influencers push brands that actually produce sub par products. Hopefully this detailed review helps.

Looking back at previous decades there were a lot of colors used, especially in combinations and prints. That's not to say there haven't been more muted periods like 70s autumnals or the dark tonal hues of 90s grunge, but those palettes still contained colors not limited to neutral shades. It's generally accepted that in more recent years the use of color in public spaces and the average person's home and wardrobe has waned. This seems to have led to a lot of people expressing discomfort with wearing colors or not knowing how to apply them, likely leading to more unsold inventory in non neutrals.
Availability of clothing in bold colors seem to be a high-low horseshoe of designer and niche brands or fast fashion and discount stores (though I've noticed some large scale budget retailers toning things down lately) with midrange retailers producing mostly neutrals with the occasional item outside of the horse colors spectrum, which often ends up in the clearance bin. Companies may be less interested in taking the risk of producing items in expressive shades for a public unwilling to wear them, leading to less accessibility in the mainstream and less willingness to experiment or become comfortable with color and so on.
It's imaginable something will eventually cause this to break on a larger level, but I also recall the way that bright colors and audacious designs hit major retailers after years of aesthetic minimalism and quickly receded into alt style as Dopamine Dressing during the early part of this decade before being overtaken by more visual austerity, with not nearly enough time for the general public to get reacquainted and comfortable with wearing color again.
As it is I see a lot of desire to wear color with conflicting anxiety both online and in real life for a variety of reasons, whether fear of "tackiness" a concept often rooted in -isms pertaining to bold colors and patterns, or not wanting to receive unnecessary attention or incur judgment. The renewed popularity of color analysis gives the impression that wearing color is something people want but are less willing to go through the possible growing pains of experimentation for, opting for something more prescriptive.
To an extent, trepidation around wearing color has long been present, but not to this degree. Wearing color was not previously something terribly uncommon because there was generally more of it around and now it seems to be looked upon as radical. Overall the majority of people just wear less color now and those who do stand out more.
Fashion girlies: what are you wearing for a night out/to parties? I feel like I no longer know what’s cool…

This is something of a vent, but i've put down roots in a small town and I feel like it is a kind of a death to forgo multicolor makeup, weird shoes and formality. The problem is I don't want to be the lone person dressed up. I'd move to New York in a heartbeat if I could afford to. How do you deal with having your spirit stifled by compulsory blandness?

Looking for something easy to carry, but with enough heat if one HYPOTHETICALLY gets fed up with Nazis. Looking for a modern Danuta Danielsson vibe.
This thread is for sharing all your new buys. Clothes, shoes, razors cologne, share it all. ...Just kidding. But just like MFA, and per your suggestions, we are now going to have a weekly recent purchases thread. So gather round and brag about your purchases! Bags, clothing, shoes, jewellery, perfume, etc.
If possible, please share a picture and a little review! Pictures can also be shared directly in the comments now.
Here you can share all the fashion related news you have come across recently. Whether it is a newly released runway, an interview with a designer, a new label slashing onto the scene or speculating new trends emerging, everything news related is welcome here.

What are some winter pants (ie. can be worn with boots) that are in style?
I find winter boots (either knee high or Ugg Adirondack style) are tight to the leg and only skinny pants seem to fit into them. But I thought skinny jeans and skinny fit pants are out and wide leg pants are in. Finding wide leg pants to fit over winter boots seems to be hard as the pant leg needs to be very wide, so what do people wear now to be in style? Any examples of exact styles that can be googled or photos are appreciated.
I love jewelry, but I am new to shopping for it. Museum collections are wonderful inspiration, and I have found that gravitate towards simple representational pieces without precious gems. In my dreams, it's possible to find similar pieces in the real world without spending a fortune. But in practice, I don't know how to begin looking.
Here are two examples of pieces that I love and wish I understood how to find for myself:
What websites, physical stores, marketplaces or other sources do you all use to find affordable jewelry that fits a particular aesthetic vision or closely matches a particular item in a collection?
Can’t figure out why a certain outfit doesn’t work for you or are you just stumped on what is flattering on you? Then this is the thread for you and you can ask your questions here.
Please do refrain from talking negatively about your own body, we understand that you are likely frustrated due to various reasons (we’ve all been there) but out of respect for others and their struggles, keeping it positive helps everyone.

I am a dentist. I feel a bit frumpy in what I wear. I am shooting for comfort more than anything. I love the feel of med couture scrubs. Figs feel very restrictive.
What are your favorite healthcare brands and how do you style scrubs?
Looking for any advice from shoes, to daily socks, under scrub bras, under shirts, vests, jackets etc.,

As the world politics, climate, and individual struggles we have pile up, a lot of us on this sub can probably relate to at least one unifying thought: what we wear can make us feel more ourselves and comforted amid chaos, even if that feeling is relatively fleeting compared to the more stable aspects of life.
I'm in the US, and queer, and nonbinary, and a parent, and struggling amid parent care and finances, and visually do not dress like many of the parents near me despite living in a city.
But you know what helps me feel kind of freaking amazing anyway right now?
My Helmut Lang knitted shrug in black, my Thursday Coda boots (edited to remove link because it turns out the cofounder is bad--we can't have nice things huh? I easily will say my Dr. Marten's chelsea boots that I wear all the time instead!), an obscure t-shirt my friend made, a pair of sunglasses my husband gave me as a gift years ago, my handbags in general which I've taken time to select and really like. They're little things, but they're a balm.
What are yours??
