Who else was a atlanta fan for 97'

Guys listen, Brad is a stud. The barca boys committed the number 1 u10 sin of not playing to the whistle and lost the game.

Watching them all storm off the field was some of the worst sportsmanship I have seen and also some of the funniest stuff this season. What a flop..

VAMOS UNITED Just currently not DC

Levien & Kaplan sell their stake in Swansea City

"The pair have been leading investors in the club since 2016, where they were part of an ownership group that purchased the then-Premier League club for around £110m."

"Their reign has been a largely turbulent one, with the club falling out of the Premier League two years later, while the club's perceived failings in several transfer markets since their return to the second tier has been a source of frustration for many supporters."

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-kaplan-jason-levien-agree-30323360

The Athletic reports that "Levien, also the co-chairman and CEO of Major League Soccer team D.C. United, and Kaplan, led an ownership group that acquired Swansea at a valuation of £110million when the side were in the Premier League in July 2016. The precise value of their sale is contested but sources close to the situation, who spoke anonymously due to the confidentiality of the agreement, did not dispute the figure represents a vast drop on the initial investment." (italics mine)

Lucky Swansea supporters. Levien and Kaplan screwed up their club and are cutting their losses. They have also screwed DCU but the club is worth much more than when they purchased simply because all MLS clubs have risen in value and this is a great market they are in.

Whatever happened to the mods?

There was a call for mods at the beginning of the year, but did anyone ever get recruited?

As a lot of you know, I have been responsible for manually submitting the majority of the match and post match threads. I don't mind it as I enjoy creating a space where fans can suffer together. But it would be cool to be able to tinker with the bot so the match threads can be automated. Something mods only have access to.

I'm sure the mods have a life unlike me, but it would be dope to get an update :)

MLS under Trump’s second presidency

Anyone else worried how this league is going to be doing going forward considering all of his rhetoric?

Pathetic RedBulls playoff crowd

As an old timer hating all things Metro/RedBull, i have tuned in to root for Columbus to bounce back. Good grief, we've got our fair share of issues but I can guarantee if we made the playoffs there would have been a packed house unlike in New Jersey. Fucking sad to see such a nice stadium go to waste.

Fuck the RedBulls!

Do people actually think MLS would benefit from a fall-to-spring schedule?

I'm just trying to see what the DC fanbase actually thinks about this. I feel like tweaking Round 1 to be better in the playoffs is more beneficial to the league.

Goff: Kasper will Return as DCU Senior Consultant in 2025

Link to Goff's Tweet: "Dave Kasper will return as D.C. United senior consultant in 2025, per two sources. Kasper has been with the organization since 2002. Relinquished GM role last fall."

---

I presume they like his knowledge of the league's procedures/mechanisms, but ooof I thought we were on the way to "Freedom from Kasper."

Which youngster will have the biggest breakout next season?

Not including KDP cause he’s already had his breakout year. Also not including Peltola because he’s earning too much money to be in this poll

What do you think are our 3 positions of highest need before next season?

What positions do we need to address the most when the transfer window opens up again? We can probably assume it won’t be CDM (because of Enow) or LB (because of Schnegg). It’s been reported that DC could have up to $8 million in cap space free up.

So which 3 positions do you think are the most important that we bring in new players for? Feel free to suggest realistic players that could be signed for those positions if you want.

Edit: I think we have one free DP slot and we are only using one u-22 slot

Wilfred Zaha

Random idea popped into my head, Zaha left Palace on a free a few years ago (where he was teammates with Benteke), he struggled at Galatasary in Turkey and is now struggling out on loan with Lyon in France. Probably quite unrealistic but I’m curious to see what you guys think about him, or any other former teammates of Benteke’s that we should try and bring in since Benteke’s stock is at an all time high right now

My ideal signing 🇧🇴

This might just be me being bias but I think Miguel Terceros from Santos, yes that Santos, could be a good signing. He’s young only 20 years and would be a cheap signing. He can plays on the wings or as a CAM. I think he would be a good and we also have a good track record with Bolivian players. 😉

Getting out in front of any “Lesesne Out” nonsense…

Obviously the season didn’t end like we hoped, but…perspective:

Check out the preseason predictions (mlssoccer.com/news/dc-united-2024-season-preview). We certainly over performed initial expectations. Why is that?

The roster Ally and Troy inherited was, to be kind, awful. It was the equivalent of asking a chef to make a gourmet meal with leftover frat party ingredients. Not a surprise our starting XI often resembled mystery meat.

And then injuries hit. Yes, they hit everyone, but our small, geriatric roster was hit harder than most. Without a MLS Next team to draw from, we ended up with (I believe) 5 available subs at NYCFC, and two of them were keepers.

We go into next season with (presumably) much more cap space (Dajome and Rodriguez alone would give us ~$1.4M cap space to work with). Canouse, Santos, and Miller are another $1.5M and are also up 12/31. That’s 53% of our cap in 5 players. We need to seriously ip the quality of our team and, while the players we added weren’t amazing, I do think they were excellent value.

Hope and DCU have not been on speaking terms for years and I have realistic expectations for 2025, but it shouldn’t be the rebuild ‘24 was always going to be.

Edit to correct cap numbers.
