I wanna get like an 80s perm lol. Nobody can do it anymore it seems they all do beach waves. Does anyone know any salons that have been doing hair forever that could do that type of thing? Thanks
Hi everyone.
I'm researching the possibility of taking a day trip next summer or fall to Canton from Cleveland to see the McKinley Library/Tomb and Pro Football Hall of Fame. Will not have a car, and that's non-negotiable. I'm also avoiding Hall of Fame induction day and the week before and after because of the crowds (normally induction day is the first weekend in August).
Getting there seems easy enough: early morning 61 bus to Akron, changing to 81 bus to Canton, arriving at 9:40 AM.
Getting back, it looks like there are two choices:
-81 bus at 5:45 PM to Akron, Baron's Bus from there at 7:05 PM to Cleveland.
-Go Bus at 8:20 PM, arrives in Cleveland at the bus station at ca. 9:45 PM.
I'm a little concerned about safety issues at the various stations taking the later bus, but maybe that's not a problem.
Also, how reliable is Uber in Canton? The 102 bus from Cornerstone Transit takes you within a half-mile walk of the McKinley Library. It's about a mile and half walk from there to the Hall of Fame, and there's a 117 bus that runs from close by the Hall back to Cornerstone. Uber may be a better option, though.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: Called SARTA, and they said the Cornerstone Transit Station closes at 4:30 PM weekdays. The 81 bus apparently leaves from there on the :45, and the RKP Bus Station in Akron is open until 11 PM, so looks like I'll be taking the 81 bus at 4:45 or 5:45 instead of waiting around in Canton for the 8:20 PM Go Bus.
Visiting for new years and looking to try some places! Cost isn't a factor, just let me know the good eats!! Thanks!
Edit: Thanks all! Basil seems to be the go-to, and maybe we'll try Benders, as well.
I have a beautiful couch that needs to be reupholstered. Who would you recommend?
We (my husband and I ) recently moved to Canton from Cleveland and have been looking for things to do. I am looking to get back in shape and also get out of the house, any recommendations for good gyms in canton?
1950ish?
Spotted a dog running around the graveyard at 55th and middle branch around 5pm. Definitely: black and white coat, medium size, trailing a leash. Possibly: looks like a younger collie mutt.
I saw him darting around to different parts of the cemetery, he looks spooked. I approached him and darted into the neighborhood just east, Robin Hood Acres. At least he’s away from the busy street now, I lingered a bit and he didn’t come back. Also, no one else in the graveyard from what I saw, so I don’t think anyone was hurt walking their dog in the cold.
Edit: added the time I saw him.
Anyone know what’s going on?
I live in Dover, south of Canton. I'm a Liverpool supporter, but also enjoy watching the U.S. international teams on occasion. Are there any bars or other places in Canton where groups regularly get together to watch matches or would I need to travel all the way to Columbus or Cleveland for that?
A friend is visiting and they want the best Mac n cheese in the area! Where do I go!!!!
Did you guys know there is another canton and it's in Missori not Ohio?
Looking for any old recordings of the public school bands from the last century. I've got some Lincoln HS Band records from 1964-1966 that will be getting digitized. Just seeing if there's anything sitting in someone's basement they don't want or would like to also get digitized.
Had a solicitor come to our door today informing us that the area had been upgraded to fiber optic internet. my wife answered the door, the dog went bananas as usual so she shut the door to talk outside. I heard my wife say something about spectrum through the door so my curiosity went out the window and I walked away to let her deal with the apparent salesman alone (sorry babe).
Anyway, she came upstairs right after and says she got an unusual vibe from the whole experience. He was offering an upgrade to fiber and said he was with AT&T, which she declined. She’s pretty sure he had an AT&T hat on, a blue zip up, and she thinks he had a badge. He was conversational, possibly to a fault, and asked her about if we worked from home, and how old our dog was. Reasonably, this could all be explained away by probing for a sale or simple polite interaction but she said it felt weird to her. When they were done he walked down the street for a ways, passed 4 houses without knocking on more doors, then across the street toward a church parking lot where we assume he left his vehicle. We live on a busy street, parking on the curb is illegal and backing out is tedious.
So yeah, is that weird or is this just Home Alone inspired paranoia? No one I know is in the financial position to start looking for bigger bills so if AT&T has been advertising this, it didn’t stick with me. We’re newish homeowners too, on a busy street like I said, so we don’t get much in the way of door-to-door. Are we the ones being weird? Has anyone else interacted with salesmen offering this deal in the area?
Anyone know what is going on with the gray dodge van parked under the red bridge a few days ago week? Heading south bound on i77, i am just curious i see them all the time on my commute to work
Originally from Canton. I remember as a kid we went to a family friend’s house, he had a pool table. Homeowner asks my dad if he wanted to play, dad said “no thanks, I only play for money”. I had never seen him play pool or heard him talk about pool. Except maybe watching Willie Moscone and Minnesota Fats on tv. On the way home I asked him about playing for money and he said he shot pool for the Pucci gang (?). Anyone know anyone who would know what that entailed exactly? I asked mom about it recently, she didn’t know anything about it but said when they really needed money he’d leave for a couple hours and come back with cash.
Hello friends. We recently moved down from Akron and I absolutely love a good plate of liver and onions, but I haven’t found anywhere down here in the Canton area. Any suggestions in North Canton and Canton??
I'll be meeting up with some old friends for dinner and drinks in Canton on Friday evening, but was hoping to do something together afterwards. Any fun things to do like karaoke, trivia, good live music etc.? Any suggestions are welcome! 😊
Hello, would anyone know of a good place to contact about violin lessons? I'm definitely starting late in life. 39 years old. I'm an absolute beginner. Although I do HAVE a violin. But no idea how to do anything with it! I absolutely want to learn. I've been considering learning for two years, and I mean a lot of thinking went into if I really wanted to. And I do.
But like I said, I'm 100% a newbie and it's intimidating being nearly 40 and wanting to learn, but I really really do. Can any of you recommend anyone?
Edit: whoopsies totally added that s to adult in the title with autocorrect
Butterball advertises 5-10 pounders but their locator says none in Canton...or Akron...or even Cleveland.
Anyone hear anything about what’s happening? We only got a tiny bit of into we overheard.
Found someone's dasher direct card outside an apartment complex in Canton. If you lost yours DM me your name and if it's the same I'll get it back to you. Will drop it off at the police station this afternoon if nobody replies.
A new arcade is getting ready to open downtown canton, repository had an article about it, looks like it’s going to be another great new spot for people to go.
Looking for a rheumatologist located in canton/massillon. Maybe Akron, too! Anyone have good experiences? Been through google reviews and most have negative remarks. Trying to get my chronic pain figured out. I have been to Omni with their specialists, and they didn’t have much of a care in the world about it.
What's the best place in the Canton area to get lashes done? Looking to get them done for the first time but I'm a bit nervous to trust just anyone.
