A subreddit dedicated to current Canadian News.

Welcome!

/r/CanadaNews is a subreddit dedicated to sharing non-political news stories relevant to Canadians and our way of life. Any posts or comments that do not adhere to the rules laid out will be removed. We want to keep this place as clear an environment as possible.

Notre sub est bilingue, veuillez soumettre vos articles et vos postes dans la langue officielle qui vous plaît.

Rules:

  • News should be directly related to Canada
  • Try to avoid posting articles that only tangentially relate to or indirectly mention Canada.
  • Titles should only be edited to provide clarity.
  • No headline changes which introduce editorialisation or rhetoric.
  • News stories should not be politically focused.
  • All partisan political news stories must be posted in /r/CanadaPolitics.
  • Reputable & verifiable news sources only
  • Please also try to keep to posting articles from Canadian outlets if possible, and only from reputable news organizations.
  • One post per news story.
  • This crosses news providers. We don't need 3 articles from CBC, CTV and the National Post all reporting the same information.
  • No Mobile Sites.
  • Please link to non-mobile sites only. If you're on mobile, the site should convert automatically. On a desktop, it doesn't rebound to the normal link.
  • No articles behind Pay Walls.
  • News stories must be new.
  • Any story published 14+ days prior to posting date will be removed.
  • Submitted posts must link to a news article.
  • This includes, but is not limited to, no: petitions, donation pleas, memes, image posts, blogs (unless by a recognized expert in the field or covering a topic ignored by the mainstream press), compilations, self-promotion or ideological/partisan propaganda.
  • No low relevance, low effort, low content comments or comments that detract from the quality of discourse.
  • This includes, but is not limited to: insults, ad hominem attacks, unsubstantiated conspiracy theories, and dishonest arguments directed towards users, groups, or public figures, comments that consist of only links or 'this', reaction gifs or critical comments that provide no commentary.

If you have any problems with these rules or removals, please address them to the moderators via Mod Mail.

Tips for a healthy subreddit:

  • Please don't downvote other people's submissions or comments, and don't make mention of anticipated downvotes on your posts ("I'm going to get downvoted for this, but...").
  • Moderators may remove all comments beneath a rule-breaking comment in a tree, even if those other comments are not rule-breaking. They do this in order to disincentivise rule-breaking comments meant to derail conversations.
  • Self-posts to spur discussion or debate are allowed.

Pierre Trudeau was named by Anneke Lucas (child trafficking survivor) as an abuser in the 1970's. Her testimony is powerful. Does anyone believe CDN mainstream media will pick up on this and will it affect Justin in any way?

Anneke has been discussing her story for many years now and has written a book - Quest for Love: Memoir of a Child Sex Slave. She was recently on this podcast where she named and spoke about her encounter with Pierre Trudeau.

Unfortunately this was not a great interview by Patrick David-Bets. He was quite combative and insensitive. However, Anneke did very well holding her own.

I truly hope that this comes to light in the mainstream media. The more we expose these powerful monsters, the better educated we can become. And, hopefully, one day minimize and stop this form of slavery.
