Hey folks…
Of course, tariffs are some kind of a taxation mark-up which is implemented by government to create some kind of a balance between imported goods vs goods produced in a host country. Or, in response to a trade dispute.
Anyway… we know that U.S. liquor is pulled off MLCC shelves. Suppose I traverse to the U.S. for the allotted amount of time and buy a bottle of KY bourbon from Duty-Free (with our shitty CAD).
I’m still good - right? 🥃
Hey everyone, I just got an email from mpnp officer that my study is not consistent with my job. Does anyone else get the same concern from officer. I work as food supervisor and had 1 year fiploma in hotel and restaurant management. Please share your advice
Trudeau's retaliation
Hey everyone. I'll get right to the punch.
I am a 34 year old male who is currently laid off due to a work shortage. It is a great job with great benefits, pension, etc. The length of the layoff is undetermined. Others have said it could be weeks, months, to even years.
What I have in my wallet is a license with an air brake learners designation. I wrote the test just over two years ago before I got my current job. I am told that it is good for as long as it takes me to book a road test and hopefully pass. Due to my current status and not knowing when I'll be called back to work, I would love to pursue that for the time being. Not only will it help me immediately, but it is something I will have in the future that I will be able to fall back on if this is to happen again.
My concern is that I do not know a single person who owns a truck with air brakes that I would be able to practice and take the test with. A thought popped into my head, but I wanted to pick the brains of reddit first: Are there companies out there that would be willing to take somebody in my situation under their wing to allow them to practice with the truck and then use the truck for the road test (class 3), providing I give a promise to continue employment with them after passing?
Has anyone been in a situation similar to mine (wanting to drive class 3 but not knowing anyone personally) or know anybody that has been? If so, what did they do to get around this and become a trucker?
It seems like something so close, yet so far at the moment 😕
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help or has any valuable information!
P.s. I should also mention that the possibility of remaining a class 3 driver is there as it would provide a much, MUCH better quality of life for me than my current job I am laid off from. I just want to work and be happy! Thanks again.
FYI, I just went through the painful process of canceling a couple of SiriusXM accounts (over 30 minutes on the phone). Little interest in continuing to support a US Media company. If you also choose to do so, here is some good information to counter their misinformation:
SiriusXM owns 70% of the company created in 2017 to privatize SiriusXM Canada
SiriusXM has 33% of the voting shares to satisfy Canadian telecom rules, but this is a technicality considering they own 70% of the company
They have cut down Canadian content, especially since the CBC exited ownership at privatization
Sadly, there are more media companies like this in Canada
And if you do decide to cancel, understand your rights as a consumer in Canada, and you can file a CRTC complaint if they make cancellation onerous, or refuse to refund the balance of a multi-month contract.
Good luck everyone.
Ontario is removing ALL American alcohol from shelves starting Tuesday. Ontario's LCBO is one of the largest single purchase of American alcohol in the world, with close to 1 billion in purchases (almost 25% of the entire US export market). B.C, Newfoundland, Quebec, Nova Scotia are also doing the same, adding up to another 1 billion in alcoohol purchaes. In one week, Trump has annihilated 2 billion in annual export sales from 35 US States. 10% of Kentucky's entire export market to Canada just vanished. As for Americans who don't think they need Canada. Trump just erased almost 45% of the ENTIRE US alcohol export market.

Years ago when Heinz pulled out of Canada I decided to try French’s. French’s had decided to step up its position in Canada and show its support. So I reciprocated. I don’t know how long ago that was, but to this day I still buy it. I buy it without even thinking twice. My money has stayed in our country and has consistently been a measure of support for those who support us.
I’m not rich or anything, but enough small decisions eventually make a big impact.
I took this photo last year at a gold eyes game. Hope you enjoy.
If your a beer lover and are no longer going to purchase made in US beers, seriously give your local craft breweries a try.
There are a lot of breweries with a lot of options.
My two favorites from Winnipeg are:
Sookrams And Torque Brewing
You might be pleasantly surprised.
I’ve heard there’s been a rush of grain crossings in the last while, and that was at the Peace Gardens crossing on HWY 10. Blackhawks overhead are new. What else is happening?
BC and Ontario have already confirmed that their Crown corporation liquor stores will no longer carry US alcohol (in BC only liquor from red states specifically). Is Manitoba considering a similar response?
