Hello,
I am an immigrant that does not have access to OHIP because my work's contract does not say "permanent," even though I work full time hours and it expires when my visa expires, which is in 2 years. I would like to hire a private health insurance plan that is somehow similar to OHIP, just in case something happens.
Any recommendations? Is there anything else I could try?
Thanks in advance.
There’s at least one coed rehabilitation centre that takes known couples. But what about sober living?
On 401, at midnight, I got pulled over by the officer, “You were doing 144 on our radar” but because I have got a clean record, the officer reduced it to 130. Before that, I was stuck in the traffic for over 2 hrs and really needed to go to washroom. Anyways, should I go to court? I am G licensed. Thank you.
This medical system is joke. My GI doesn't know what SIBO is and doesn't know what the "breath test" is either. How are doctors allowed to practice if they aren't doing continuing education? Seems fucked to me.
Anywho. Has anyone in Ontario found success with any GI's or specialist GI's for motility? I had an endoscopy + colonoscopy and they found extra bile in my stomach and my GI says its from "slow gastric emptying." I asked about getting a GES to confirm, and he said its not needed. and wants me on constella + domperidone (a drug literally used for gastroparesis.)
Why are doctors here so comfortable prescribing medication with minimal testing? I suspect I have SIBO, and this slowed down my motility, then I went on Nsaids, an SSRI and then PPI's, and I assume this just ruined me even more. Got constipated after using the PPI.
SO is there any competent GI's in ontario, even if I have to wait, I'd like to tell my doctor a good name so I can get referred. If not possible, if I have to pay, can you tell me the cost and the doctor as well??
Thanks in advance, just a girl suffering with GI issues, vitamin issues and a possible autoimmune...yes "possible" because they can't diagnosis me with anything despite my positive blood works, and symptoms, chronic inflammation, etc. YAAAAY CANADA!!!!!!
How that go?
Hello there,
I'm in my 30s trying to transition from Software Development to Supply Chain/Logistics and seeking some advice.
I'm planning on doing a 1 year graduate certificate in Supply Chain Management. I'm mainly considering programs that offer co-op (internships) but may consider others. Here are the colleges that offer SCM certificates around the GTA.
Basically, which college offers the best co-op program, networking opportunities, job search assistance etc....
Please advise,
Thanks
Hi,
I have some questions about the difference between maternity and pregnancy leave as described in these documents. I read through other reddit posts, but did not see a good comparison of the two. Please assume that only the birthing parent will use these benefits and there is not sharing for these questions below. Also please assume a prerequisites apply and we are in Ontario. :)
<A> https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act-0/pregnancy-and-parental-leave
<B> https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei/ei-maternity-parental.html
<A> says that "If the employee has a live birth, the pregnancy leave will end on the date of the birth and then, in most cases, the employee will be able to commence parental leave."
<A> also says that parental leave is upto ~61 weeks.
<B> says that "Maternity benefits are only available to the person who is away from work because they're pregnant or have recently given birth.", which makes it sound like the maternity benefits of 15 weeks can be used after the birth of the child too.
<B> also says that extended parental benefits are 61 weeks long, which matches the max amount of parental benefits mentioned in <A>.
So it feels like maternity leave in <B> is the same as pregnancy benefits in <A>, and that maternity leave can only be taken before birth. Is this understanding correct? (The example with "maternity + extended parental benefits" section in <B> seems to support this too.)
Additionally, our primary care physician mentioned that the birthing parent can take up to 12 months off at 55% pay (and not 33% pay) all after childbirth, if the parent does not take any pregnancy/maternity time off before birth of the child. This confused me a bit as I had not read this anywhere.
Could you help me understand this?
Pretty much the title - it's looking like a Catch-22 of some sort? If I need insurance first to get the car under my name (and drive it home), how can I do that if the insurance company needs the car to be under my name first before they insure me? Anyone here have this experience? Thanks for all the help!
EDIT: Specifically, I was confused about filling out the back part, specifically the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. It says there that the vehicle must be insured (it is, but under my dad) but the signature says BUYER'S signature. Is the insurance info here supposed to be for MY insurance, or my dad's?
Hi! I’m visiting Ontario next week for work. I will be free from Wednesday to Saturday, so I don’t have much time. I want to visit pretty places, and I want to know Canada! (I’m from Europe). I will rent a car (I think it is worth it). What places to visit do you suggest? I don’t want to move far away from Toronto as I fly from there, but I would like to hear / read places so I can build a route! Thanks!! :)
I have been working at my company for 5 years. It has just come to my attention that some brand new employees who were hired through an agency are earning the same amount it took me 5 years to move up to. Is a part of their wage paid by the agency and not my company? Am I just missing something or do I have a legitimate objection?
Is this procedure not covered under OHIP? Have politicians fleeced out healthcare this much or what is going on here? First of all, asking for cash for a medical procedure is ridiculous. Is this normal? I’m so confused 🫤
I’m not sure how to proceed. One one hand, it takes 6 months to get into a new gyno and I need this test. On the other hand, it seems so sketchy. Any opinions out there?
I urgently need to see a psychiatrist but the one that my doctor referred me to has a 6 month waiting list. Is any one aware of any other options that might have a shorter wait time?
This bill achieved Royal Ascent back in March 21, 2024. One provision that I've been looking forward to was the pay transparency section that stipulated that job listings should include a compensation range. That section was stipulated to go into effect at a later date.
I've tried searching around and we're 6 months later now with basically no word on when this section will be enforced. I guess maybe I'm hoping my google-fu has failed me and there actually has been some news about this?
I am wondering where in Ontario dedicates a weekend to Christmas. If anyone is aware of towns that offer a weekend of family fun.
I see Stratford has a German Christmas festival on the November 30th weekend. This is the weekend we plan on going away. Does anyone have experience with Stratford or this festival?
I know Christmas markets are almost everywhere but those are good for a few hours.
We love to kick start our Christmas with a little family weekend get away.
We have gone to Niagara falls and Ottawa so far.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for an ENT who will operate on an infant with a short wait time. My son needs tubes in his ear and we are looking at a 1-2 year wait just for the initial consultation. He’s had 10 courses of antibiotics in his short 10 month life. We really don’t have 1-2 years to wait.
Also, if anyone has travelled to the states for a similar treatment and has recommendations I’m also open to that.
