how to sing softer/higher pitched vocals as a basso profundo?

so as the title says, I’m a very low bass who has trouble hitting higher notes. my speaking voice has been compared to Corpse Husband or Barry White for reference.

I really can’t find many songs within my natural range sadly, and it makes it hard almost painful for me to sing anything past a lighter baritone range. does anyone have any tips/techniques I could use to make it a bit easier to sing higher?

Women on DHEA or testosterone and voice lowering?

Has anyone experienced voice lowering effects on DHEA or testosterone, and how soon and on what dose did it manifest? I’m trying to avoid this. How often would I have to have my testosterone tested so that it is within the normal physiological range for a women?

For menopausal women who at risk of voice lowering, did you manage to prevent this for long and how?

Voice issues

Ok. So recently I've noticed this stinging in both sides of my throat after singing. My throat does look red when I look in a mirror. Any clue on what happened. I've had this happen before where I had to stop singing for legit months and then I came back and slowly built back up to where I was. Feedback appreciated.

Montreal Vocal coach

Hi guys, I'm looking for a vocal coach in Montreal and was wondering if any of you had any recs? I'd like to sing in bars eventually. On a side note if you also have any guitar lesson recs that would be great. Cheers!

How do I sing while having allergies

How do I sing/ rap when every night I take an antihistamine and an inhaler for asthma. In the morning if I sleep good, I have a decent voice, but I feel while taking these medications, my voice is never 100%. On the other hand, if I don’t take the medication I will have post nasal drip and worsened asthma. The post nasal drip also ruins my voice. It’s crazy how allergies can make it impossible to sing. Also, I got my tonsils removed 8 months ago and that plus changed my voice. By the way I developed asthma after the surgery and I started taking antihistamines after the surgery. But before the surgery I had a constant pharyngitis and tonsillitis, so I think I am better now health wise. But before the operation, on a good day I could sing quite decent. I am really lost. I don’t know how can I continue to record while having allergies and asthma

How to make sure I'm practicing correctly?

Hi, so I (16) am trying to teach myself to sing because my family cannot afford singing lessons. After I was in a musical at school, I realized I really like singing and I want to get better at it. So far I have been practicing vocal warm ups and exercises every day, but I want to make sure I am practicing correctly so I don't drill in bad habits. I hope in the future I can maybe find a way to make money to take vocal lessons, but for now, I just want to improve as much as I can on my own. How do I make sure I am singing with good technique and that I am helping myself rather than hurting myself?

Also, are there any reputable websites that help with singing exercises? I saw my friend who is in choir do one that gives you music and then you listen to the notes and sing them, and then I think the website tells you if you were on key? I don't know what it's called but if anyone knows anything like that please let me know.

Need some advice! My first time singing publicly EVER!

Hey everyone! 😊 I’ve been taking singing lessons since the beginning of January and I’d like to say I’ve improved quite a lot! My singing teacher has been the best at getting me to come out of my shell and really get into the songs I sing. She also said she would love for me to join a public event she hosts every year at this really nice venue. She said my voice has improved so much in so little time and she thinks I’ll definitely be ready for it on June 23rd. Without thinking about it too much I said YES! But now I’m really nervous haha!

Lately I’ve been throwing myself out there to try new things and this is definitely a big one for me!

Any advice for nerves and stage fright? Thanks!

Voice Projection Issues Due to Childhood Trauma

Hi guys, I’m need of help. I’ve been told by 2 vocal teachers that my voice is very quiet and I can’t project well. My first teacher was very empathetic, sat down with me for a while and told me it could be due to childhood trauma of being told to “shut up and be quiet”. He said he had a book on overcoming voice projection issues due to trauma to give me but I skipped our next session and never got it :(

How can I get over this? What techniques both psychological and physiological can I do to overcome this problem? Also this is a long shot but does anyone know what book that could have been?

Mixed voice

So I'm new to singing (Been 1.5 years) and I've taken the CVT course + a few vocal coaching sessions where I learned all about vocal support, twang & vocal modes

I am able to sing in chest voice and falsetto but I'm struggling to grasp the mixed voice, I just don't understand how it sounds or how I can get there without going to the falsetto.

Lack of engagement on non conversation posts

ironic to make a conversation post but ive noticed a pattern of low engagement on video posts and recording posts in the past 6 months. its hard to get feed back on this sub and it seems like the only posts that get attention are people flexing their “range” but then not actually proving it and just getting lots of joke engagement or people calling them out to prove themselves. why do you think this is?

Different voice when singing?

This is gonna be short, in the 1st point I basically applaud myself like a narcisist would because of my voice and in the 2nd point, I retire the applaud 'cause I don't like what's going on.

  1. Im a male, 24 years old, my voice is very deep and masculine, like I have the soul of an old viking living around, the voice every male wants, I have it, and to add on top of that, is raspy.

  2. When I sing I don't sing with my speaking voice, my voice gets more more softer and the trebble goes up, the raspy side of it is still there at least, but in the most part, I sing like a regular standard singing dude and not with my deep voice which I wanna sing with, since I sing rock and I wanna do metal next and my deep voice would be the touch it needs.

Is there a technique to like match my voice to be deep even when singing? I mean I can force it but I get tired so quickly. Thanks for the replies.

How to improve intonation?

I've been singing consistently for almost 2 years now. I really struggle with singing on pitch even the most basic Songs in my most comfortable range. Sometimes I can hit notes more precisely though, depends on a day... I dunno. Any tips?

Can anyone recommend a vocal pedal that is just reverb and delay and doesn’t cost 300$?

I’m in a band and need just those two effects I found a couple options but they sound super corny and bad. The boss ve 20 sounds great but it’s 250 and I really just need to use two effects. Doesn’t seem to be a lot options.
