I just accidentally broke this hose off. What is the sensor called?
In case you are still driving one of these timeless cars, and have never seen this ridiculously detailed engineering brochure. I believe 1991 was the last year SAAB updated the full version of this 93 page booklet, printed on expensive acid-free paper, and double stitched in a heavy binding. GM probably had a heart attack when they found out, and forced SAAB to stop publishing it - opting instead for an abbreviated version in later years.
I'm going to purchase my first car soon and I was wondering which 9-5 has the best engine, I'm after good power but still realiable. I have been looking at the 2.3t engine but should I go 2.0? What does linear and vector stand for? Does the 2.0T 180hk have any advantages over the 2.3T 185? Thanks for answers.
Hi guys, I need an advice. Is 2005 9-5 combi, with 2,3 (can be used with LPG) 6-speed manual and 339,500 km a good buy for something under 2000 USD (although in EU)?
Background noise before I turn the key is an HVAC unit in the garage. Got back from a trip for 4 days and my 9-5 isn’t starting. First turn over it cranked 3 times and started but died immediately after. What are ya’lls thoughts? My best guess is CPS or fuel pump
I need to replace this part on my Saab 9-3:

How do I make a tight seal to the both ends to the rest of the exhaust system?
My ‘99 9-3 is in really rough shape, I’ve been out of the country for most of the year and it’s been sitting in the driveway without being driven for almost all of that time. I have little faith that I can get it running again, but I wanted to check here in case there might be a relatively affordable fix that’ll keep it moving for a little while longer.
When I got back, I tried starting it and immediately found that the battery was dead. This has happened many times in the past, so I figured I might just be able to jump it and get it running again like I’ve done countless times. This time, though, there seems to be a more fundamental problem with the engine. The car will start when it’s being jumped, but within seconds of the engine turning over the rpm falls back to 0 and the car stops running. If I rev the engine it’ll keep running until I let off the gas, but even with the gas pressed down it’ll periodically lose power and then get it back again, almost as if it’s forgetting that the pedal is being pressed down and then remembering every few seconds.
I’m sure it’s already clear that I know next to nothing about car maintenance, but I figure now might be a good time to learn on a car that’s already essentially junk. So, I’m curious if anyone else has run into a similar problem and might know how to troubleshoot it, or could give some advice on how I might resolve it. I’m totally willing to accept that it’s beyond repair or that it has to go to a mechanic, but in the small chance there might be some tinkering I can do to it myself that might help, I’d love to hear it.
If there’s any other information you need about the car I’m happy to provide, and either way I’d just appreciate some advice from people who know a lot more about this stuff than I do.
I was asked to send a picture of my engine bay to figure out why I was only getting half boost. I’ll attach a picture, but I also want to show you guys what I mean when I say it just works randomly. When I got off of work last night and got in my car, I could tell the power felt different. Surely enough it was allowing for full boost again. I drove around and enjoyed the fruits of the Saab before slowing down and pulling off on the highway. When I turned off the car and turned it back on it was back to the half boost lifestyle. I say this to explain why I just don’t think it’s a leak anywhere. Cause why would it go an entire drive and work and as soon as it restarts just seemingly goes away?? Thank you all for your continuous help it means the world.
Any ideas? No neighbours around and no battery jump starter to try that..

Please can someone show me or lead me to a detailed diagram of all the coolant hoses for the b284 in a 2006 93 aero 6 mt.
Notices a some people posting about the dog leg rust. Figured id share my repair. This was the first time i have done work like this so its not perfect. I did screw up the body line and the door gap is a little messed up. But its better than a hole. This repair i did with 2k epoxy primer, 2k base, and 2k clear. The color match was ok. The pearl did not match perfectly but only visible in the door jamb. The other side i did differently i actually went to paint store and them mix me exact color match using a spectrometer on the actual body of the car. And the paint match was absolutely perfect. I even bended the paint and the clear right in the middle of the fender and its impossible to tell it was ever painted.
This the other side done with a spray cheap $20 gun from HF and custom mixed paint
I've been using ABJ auto for the better part of 15 years for my Saab repairs. There was still one guy, Mike, there that knew all the common issues and was very reasonable price wise. Their number went out of service around two weeks ago and I haven't been able to reach them. Anyone know the deal? And/or know a good Saab shop to use as a replacement in the area?
Spent last night having a lot of fun removing this headlight bulb, finding out I have the wrong replacements, giving up on fitting the old bulb back in and finally getting it back in this morning. If someone can link me the correct headlights (I believe I’m looking for H7 but want to be sure, the one you see on the right is H11) that would be a lot of help so I can do this hellish job correctly next time, thanks.
Installed a Motorad thermostat and noticed the temp gauge dropping on the highway. I never had this issue before I changed the tstat, so I bought a new Mahle part and installed that last night. Hope it's good now. Using the tech2 to verify temps instead of the inaccurate dash gauge
Anyone else have trusted/untrusted part brands for this car?

Pretty funny story, I was perusing marketplace for a Saab and I came across the listing for this car. The seller had the same last name as my fifth grade teacher (I'm 32) but I brushed it off and thought there was no way it was the same person. Sure enough, the seller was the nephew of my fifth grade teacher! She came over and we talked about a book report I wrote back in the day. The car is well taken care of, garage kept, maintenance records, no accidents, clean title. I got it for $2.3k. This was about a month ago.
I promptly bought a knockoff Tech 2, because the "shift up" light was going to cause an aneurysm, but I kept getting a "no communication with DICE" error. A generic OBD 2 reader could communicate through the K-line without issues, so I thought the problem was the Tech 2. I ordered another knockoff Tech 2 and I'm having the same issue: no communication with DICE. Bought a new cable from Amazon, still get the error. Very rarely, the Tech 2 will briefly achieve communication with the DICE and for a few minutes I'm able to access the various menus. I replaced the OBD 2 terminal, thinking there might have been something wrong with the pins or something, but no DICE (literally). Also, it appears as if turning off the shift indicator is not possible for the MY99, so any tips on shutting that light down forever and firing it into the sun would be appreciated.
Overall though I'm just incredibly excited to join the Saab community. There is something truly special and unique about these cars, it's almost like I 'crave' driving it. I've changed the oil (Mobil 1 euro), transmission fluid (I used Pennzoil synchromesh), air filter, cleaned the idle air control valve, installed the short belt mod to bypass the air conditioning condenser, started to slowly work my way through the bushings and ball joints and suspension components, replaced some dry-rotted rubber lines (like the power steering return line), and I have plans to upgrade to a thicker rear sway bar.
