So about a week ago, my car key broke into 3 pieces as I took it out of the ignition. (Pic provided.) Is this something that could be fixed, or do I need a new key? Are there places that would do that? As of now, being that this is my only key, I tape the metal part into the remote when I’m not using it and just do my best. Any suggestions would be helpful before I pull the trigger on a new key. TYIA!
I was able to drive 2 miles to the tire shop with out it chewing the tire up bc it was low but not on the ground. But when I went to the air pump it wouldn’t take air.
I just read a review of the new BMW X3 and Gawd! Is that thing hideous. I got me thinking back to when BMW design peaked. When looking across all models In my opinion, the most attractive BMW's were the post "Bangle Butt" models in the early 2010's before backsliding into overwrought models like the XM and X3 which will be infesting our roads.

I am 15 years old and looking into buying my first car, my current budget is in the $3000 range but that will increase as I go back to work soon. I am looking for something pretty reliable, decently “cool” (not a Kia soul), and at least 5 seats. I would preferably like a “older” bmw/Mercedes but easier said then done. What car do you recommend? (I am also good with a wrench and look forward to working on and learning from my car)
Hey everyone, looking for some advice.
We recently signed a four-year lease for a 2025 BMW in Canada. After a long negotiation, we managed to secure a great rate, around 5% instead of the listed 7%, which we were really happy with. We were very specific about wanting the Driver Assist PRO and Park Assist PRO packages, and the dealership agreed, so we signed the lease, paid a $2000 deposit, and thought everything was locked in.
Now, the dealership has reached out, saying these packages won’t be available until cars produced in December, meaning our car delivery wouldn’t be until January. They mentioned our cars would be among the first to receive these features, which sounds good, but then they noted that they can’t guarantee the same lease rate and residuals at pickup if there are any interest rate changes by January. The dealership says they would have to go by the rates and programs active at that time, which seems like they might increase.
Our contract does say it’s final unless the car isn’t delivered within 90 days of the due date—January delivery would still be within that window, so technically, the contract is still valid.
Is this a normal situation with factory orders, or are they trying to backpedal on the deal we got? Would you recommend pushing back and insisting they stick to the agreed terms, or should I approach this differently?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Many decades ago, we used to have to set the spark gap to the specifications of the vehicle manufacturer, but nowadays the expensive ~100,000km plugs I've been buying for my 25yr old V6s have come with clarifications that they come already set from the factory, even though the gap for each vehicle might supposedly be different. I've had no problems following the "non-adjustment" advice of the plug manufacturers, but of course I'm referring to my V6s that have long-life plug changes scheduled every 100,000km or so (because it's such a PITA to access them on the rear bank).
My daughter though recently bought a 1997 Hyundai Excel/Accent which appears to recommend the same old standard sort of $5ea plugs that we used to buy decades ago and then have to set the gap according to the vehicle manufacturer's specs (NGK BKR5ES-11 2382 plugs now in my daughter's case).
Do we still need to adjust the gap or are we better off just leaving as it came from the plug manufacturer now?
Hello everyone!
I love cars so much and decided I wanted to start my own Japanese importing company.
I am based out of the SoCal area and don’t see many imported cars oddly.
Can anyone recommend a vehicle that is very desirable other than the classic ones? (supras,skylines,rx8)
Hello All, I am an expat living in Germany and currently leasing a young used Audi A3. Personally I like the idea of changing cars every 4 years as I enjoy driving and love technology upgrades. However I have now started to change my lifestyle and thinking of Financing as it does make sense to own a car for 10 years and make the best out of it. Hence asking folks their experience here. What Car do you own and did you folks lease it or finance it ? What is a smart move here ? split between lifestyle and financial gains.
PS: thinking of a reliable car like Lexus or Toyota as my next which offers reliability and reduced maintenance over the next few years ! Should I lease a young used or finance a brand new car ?
I recently bought a 2024 Telluride, and I love it for a variety of reasons. One of the main reasons though is that it’s fundamentally a really nice place to be. It’s got nice seats, a nice ride, well-placed arm rests (super important!), and heat and cooling everywhere that matters.
Recently, this got me thinking: what is the single most comfortable car ever made? Obviously this is a bit subjective, and different features will matter to different people, but I’m curious about people’s experiences behind the wheel of the best commuters ever made.
The first gen navigator has been on my dream car list for a while, but i am European and we basically don’t have them here. But there are some for sale. So what problems do i need to consider when buying an first gen navigator?
Hi, any car buffs out there? I am desperate for your help. This past week I have a very strange incident occur where I was chased by another vehicle. The vehicle could be related to another crime and it's very important for me to be able to identify this car. It was a four-door car. I believe it was black. If not black, a very, very dark navy but I'm pretty sure black. The car had been dented several times the doors on both sides. While the front and the back were slightly rounded, you know where the top of the doors are it was kind of a boxy shape. It was not a BMW. The thing that stood out the most were it had circular headlights 2. One on each side. It kind of looked like a car from the late 90s mid 90s maybe early 2000s. I don't know if it was that old. I was actually surprised at how fast it went. I think this was an add-on, but between the two headlights on a grill part was a flat long red light. It did not go headlamp to headlamp. It was centered in the middle. Again, this wasn't like a huge four-door car. It was not like a Cadillac if I would guess and I'm not a car person maybe like a Toyota or a Ford something like that I would've said Honda except it doesn't have shape of a Honda because it's more boxy less streamline if you have any car ideas of what this could be, it would mean the world to me.
Please share this post with your friends that may know. time is of the essence. &
Couldn't figure out the best sub to put this post in (autos, askcarsales, personal finance, etc) but here goes..
We are considering getting a new vehicle for my wife & would prefer a truck (specifically the Santa Cruz) but are open to lower to midsize SUVs. Not set on a vehicle at this point.
Both me & my wife work remote & don't have much personal driving we do.
We currently have 3 vehicles:
Weekend Convertible: 19 124 Spider with 45K miles (manual transmission which my wife doesn't like to drive) - I love the car & don't really feel like getting rid of it despite minimal use at this point.
My work car: 22 Chevy Malibu - unlimited personal use allowed (but only I can drive it) major plus is free gas & tolls (we live in Central FL - toll road capital of the US).
Wife's Lease: She has a 22 Tuscon SEL (convenience package i think) with her lease up in January 24 & she only used 25K of 36K allowed miles. She's beaten it up to a degree that I don't want to buy it out but that's an option for $20K. - Was able to get a $1,300 net buyout offer on as a trade in.
My wife highly prefers the best tech features namely audio, comfort & safety (she doesn't care at all about the engine). Her preference here has led us to be a repeat Hyundai leasee. Mostly want a truck to easily transport our kayaks because we drive all around Florida kayaking in rivers & springs in the summers, roof racks are a nuisance (we have those now on her car).
There are no financial limitations within what we are looking for. ~300K HH income with ~150K HH expenses (including her current $400/mo payment) & we are 29 & 30 with +800 credit.
Top 2 options I've been pushing for:
24 Hyundai Ioniq 5 - we can get into a $500/mo lease payment on a RWD limited ($0 due at signing - 36 mo 10K miles/yr - $1,300 credit from trade) - great deal for what it is & we have 220 power in the garage for an easy charger install. - I also selfishly like how the car drives. These depreciate so quick it definitely won't have equity at the end. I definitely wouldn't buy one.
Hyundai Santa Cruz: 2 main options
a. 25 New - she likes leather & the ventilated seats so mostly looking at the higher end onea which looks like best case $550-600/mo on a lease or could purchase around $700/mo on a 72 month loan. b. 24 Pre-Owned (Limited or Night model) with under 10K miles - would be around $700/mo on a 60 month loan (nearly a $10K discount off the new ones). Wifey likes the new interior more which is a challenge for this option.
I'm worried she won't want to keep it more than like 3-4 years & may beat it up quite a bit. So I'm a bit torn between options.
I'm thinking the 24 pre-owned Santa Cruz may be our best bet but all options have pros & cons. I did pre-negotiate the Ioniq 5 deal but the others are just rough numbers.
Any thought or suggestions?
What could be the issue ?
I've always loved fog lights on cars since the 80/s90 when I go into cars.
They add the something extra when seeing the fascia at night or during the day.
Audi, IMO, has had the most forward facing head/read light setups since they started (not technically) the LED running light trend in the 2010's, and not to mention Group B which c'mon, the best auto racing of all time! Their fog lights mounted on the front bumper are still legend to this day!
In the late 90s or early 2000's, Audi "Integrated" their normal headlights into the "Fog Lights".
Every other company follows what Audi does, I'm convinced of it.
No cars had separate fog lights for a decade. Then they came back.
Now we're on a "no fog light" trend again, and it sucks because I actually love the "light bars" that Hyundai and KIA are doing, but why are fog lights out again?
I guess we'll just have to wait 10 years.
I assume you understand the difference.
hoping someone who does repairs can tell me how this even happens bc wtf. what object can be used to do this, did someone kick into it? fucking crazy work
Many years back when I was driving on the freeway my friend very quickly pulled the gear shifter to reverse and back to drive but nothing happened…
It was a 1987 Toyota Landcruiser FJ60. What’s the worst that could have happened? What likely happened?
And yes, I yelled at him for at least 5 minutes after that.
I love it soooooo much, helps me get arround, and its soo fucking cuteeeeee
