Civic type R vs Golf R

I’m just curious what are the main differences between them, pros and cons about each one and which may be better value.

    Used 2020 Audi Q3 premium?

My 2013 Hyundai Elantra got the tick of death a while back and I Just finished paying it off. I finally got the title and am now looking to trade it in for a new(to me) daily driver. AWD with apple car play and automated cruise control are preferred but AWD is the only nonnegotiable. A family member is getting a new car and therefore selling their 2020 Audi Q3 premium with about 71k miles. They said they’d sell it to me for $17.5k

Any thoughts on this model or year? Is it a good deal? Can I be more confident in this purchase than the used Hyundai? I’ve always been diligent about maintaining my vehicle and I know that’s huge with German brands

    Please help

I just graduated college and I am going to start making student loan payments. I just got a new job and need a car to reliably get from point A to point B, that won’t require high maintenance costs. I found 2 options for my area

2017 Nissan Rogue Sport SV -Milage: 42k -Price: 14k -New BCM, New tires -2 previous owners

2019 Mazda CX-5 Sport -Milage: 54k -Price: 17k -Seemingly well maintained, past lease -2 previous owners (1 lease, 1 outright)

I have heard issues about Nissan’s CVT and I just had an uncle trade in his 2020 Mazda due to a lot of mechanical issues. I don’t know what is the right purchase, especially with my financial constraints. I am able to put 10k for a down payment.

    Good first car?

Hey y'all, I'm lookin for what to buy for my first car. My dad has said he doesn't mind giving me his car, but I'd rather not if I could find something for cheap. I'll have my license most likely 7 months from now so I'll be 17. I have some guidelines for what I'm trying to find. Some of it is more flexible, while there is stuff like good MPG, cheap in cash, and cheap/easy maintenance is non-negotiable. Now, thankfully my father is a mechanic, so maintenance will just be the parts and buying my dad lunch.

    So, here are my guidelines.

    NON-NEGOTIABLE

    • Cheap to buy upfront (obviously used)
    • Good fuel economy (will be doing hours of driving because of Texas)
    • Easy and cheap maintenance
    • Automatic

    PREFERENCE

    • Good or replaceable sound system
    • Comfortable (Doesn't need to be super comfortable, but obviously don't want something that feels like its trying to kill me)
    • At least decent performance

    LOW PRIORITY BUT WANT

    • Looks stylish
    • 90s-2000s
    • Sounds good
    • Fun to drive (especially when I'm alone and can speed)

Help Choosing A New Car After An Accident

My girlfriend and I just got into a hit and run accident. We're both banged up but okay, but my car is totaled. We weren't planning on looking at a new car for quite a while, because my 2013 Kia Optima was in great shape and fully paid off. Honestly, we can't afford much. I'm newly disabled and we're struggling to make ends meet as is. I'm feeling lost, and could really use some advice on what direction to look in right now. I have absolutely zero preference for make or model, but I think we're leaning toward hatchbacks/small SUV's. Here's what I'm looking for:

    -Used (probably 2020 or earlier)

    -Hybrid

-Great safety features (arguably the most important thing on this list for me)

-Enough trunk space (or "hatchback space" idk) to easily fit a folding manual wheelchair

And then these aren't "needs" just "wants" that I'd be fine not having since we're working with a very limited budget:

    -Backup camera

-A screen that easily displays gps/music from iPhone

-Comfortable seating, maybe with seat heating and/or cooling (chronic pain + long car rides is a bitch)

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this and answer. I really appreciate it. 🖤

2025 Hyundai Tucson or 2025 Subaru Forester

Deciding between 2025 Hyundai Tucson and 2025 Subaru Forester. Looking at AWD SEL or AWD SEL Convenience on the Tucson and the Sport or Limited on the Forester. Obviously higher packages will carry a higher cost.

Lifestyle: single, late 20’s, with a small dog who sheds. Heated seats are non negotiable. Active lifestyle but live in the Midwest.

The Forester has a lifetime powertrain warranty + 3 year/36k miles basic warranty.
The Tucson has a 10 year/100k miles powertrain warranty + 5 year/60k miles basic warranty.

The Forester has 2.9% financing on 72 months. The Tucson has 0% financing on 48 months. 72 months would be similar to the Forester.

I’m not planning to pay all cash, so financing is a consideration, but both would have reasonable monthly payments.

The Tucson felt nicer to drive, but I know Subaru has a strong reputation. Anyone have opinions?

Looking to buy a car but not sure what to buy and need some suggestions.

So I am in the market to buy two cars. One under $15k and another under $40k. The under 15k is a first car for my younger brother, and the under 40k is for me. I’m looking for a midsize suv that is reliable. Any suggestions? I’m looking for something reliable that can hold its value.

Looking for A AWD sedan for $20k or less

I am looking to buy a commuter car. Currently commuting in a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. Clearly that isn't a good commuter. I have been looking at AWD sedans and wanted the new what this sub had the say. We have been leaning towards a Nissan Altima because we can find the SL trim with less than 60k miles for less than $20k. But I just read the thread about Nissan and apparently this sub hates them haha we did find a base trim Toyota Camry listed at $23k with 56k miles but it wasn't super comfortable and we would need to pay an additional $500-$800 to add remote start which the Altima already has since it is the top trim. I also was really not a fan of the headrests in the Camry.

Any suggestions? I am struggling to find things in our price range that don't have a ton of miles already. AWD is non negotiable and the remote start is pretty non negotiable too.

    Lowering car payment

Looking for some advice here. I am currently driving a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. I pay $630 a month plus $200 for car insurance. Since I bought the car in May, my living situation has changed and I basically have $1000 more in bills. I make decent money but I feel like I am drowning right now and I am trying to save money in any way I can. One of my biggest expenses is my car and I know that is something that could be made cheaper. I was looking at possibly leasing a new Corolla or something similar. “Cheap” and good on gas/reliable. The only problem is I will likely have about 3-4k of negative equity. Is it even worth trying to trade in to get a lower monthly note? How much lower could I realistically get my car note?

Help deciding first car: new Mazda3 or used 2018 Mazda6

Hi Reddit, I’m looking for advice for my first car. I have $8k saved up and my parents are putting in another $2k. I’m looking for a good basic, newer sedan that’ll last me a good amount of time. I’m heavily considering Mazda as I really like how they look and feel, and my parents are highly encouraging me to buy new (less maintenance problems and more safety features), but I want to also consider used cars if the price seems like a better deal. I just don’t really know what to take into account when looking at used cars.

Option 1: a new Mazda3 (or its competitors) go for around $25k MSRP in California.

Option 2: I see listings like a used 2018 Mazda6 Sport (this would be my preferred model if it wasn’t discontinued) for $14k, with 83k miles put on it. CarFax says no accidents reported. Here’s the listing in case. The $10k cheaper price tag seems like it more than makes up for the likely potential cost of repairs and maintenance right? What should I keep in mind? And if this particular listing isn’t a good deal, what would make it a good one (so I can look at other used cars?)

Would love any opinions for a newbie, if your friend was a newbie getting their first car which would you recommend?

Car market insight from dealership or salesman please!!

I’m looking for no some bs advice or insight about the car market right now …

I lease a 2022 Toyota Corolla LE with about 22k miles on it and I pay $185/month and I’m nearing the end of lease term. I’m looking to upgrade to a 2025 Corolla or a 2024 Corolla Cross - either purchase or lease again for 3 years. I didn’t put anything down, I traded it in from another lease prior. They say I have about $3k in equity from it and are estimating my 2022 to be worth $18k.

I have good credit, the car exterior/interior is in great shape and no issues with the car. I keep getting mailers/calls/texts from the dealer to come in and they’ll make me a good deal - I did and they were throwing around $500-$700 payments. I’m looking to stay near where I am, or not over $300. What’s the reality of that? I’m in Florida, USA.

    2012 RAV4 successor?

Currently driving a 2012 RAV4 Limited V6, bought used in 2018. It’s driven every day for school drop off but overall annual miles are about 5,000. We’re in the US / Pacific Northwest and also have a 2015 Highlander.

What’s good: —Good size interior and cargo space; we cart around 2 elementary aged kids and 2 big dogs (each 80lbs) —Relatively small exterior - 73” wide x 181” long —AWD good for rain, snow, mountains —Moon roof / light colored leather interior / heated seats —Reliability —Fun to drive with the V6

What’s not good: —14 mpg fuel economy on most tanks but still only needs 2-3 fill-ups per month -Technology is dated

If we buy its successor, would put a premium on reliability and would like to spend $25k-$30k. If we lease, reliability isn’t as important and we’d do a low mileage lease on a vehicle closer to $40k-ish.

What’s out there that’d be a good successor this car but newer? TIA.

Need a car for errands and work (construction) but have access to work truck often

We have a van for the kids, wife works from home. I have access to a company truck pretty often F150. However if work sends just me to a job I usually don’t have access to the truck, small company. The company pays mileage and travel time so we are all happy with this part of the job. I don’t like taking the van and leaving my wife at home with the kids and no car though.

I need to have a large duffel and a few tools that are dirty. But a full size truck seems overkill. I figure I can put a tarp down and be fine.

I’m thinking this should be a cheap smaller car. My preference would be to buy new. I’ve looked at the maverick but the truck bed is just short of being able to fit some equipment.

6’3” with lower back issues. Tall peeps of the world: What’s the vehicle you bought that made you think “Why didn’t I get something like this years ago?”

Pretty much already said it all. I don’t live a lifestyle where I need a pickup truck, although I do like the roominess and tall cabins you often find in those vehicles. Don’t need a monster SUV either. For years, I’ve driven sporty hatchbacks that are good on gas and handle well but I feel I’ve outgrown them both literally and figuratively. Not sure what I should be looking at next.

Looking for recs on a reliable, used, manual transmission car <15k

    1. Manual transmission - I've been driving stick since I was 20 and I feel careless and uncomfortable driving automatic. Plus I dont have ev charging at home or work which means fossil fuel driving so why not enjoy the winding roads to work 😄

    2. Under 15k is ideal! I'm a teacher and a car loan closer to 200 than 300 is a huge help. Plus o have 4k down so I'm hoping that helps.

    3. Long term reliability - I'm a teacher so this will be only vehicle for likely 7 to 10 years.

    4. Storage, preferable a wagon but not married to wagons at all. I'm in a poor and relatively underdeveloped part of America with a city that's damn near rural outside of downtown. We're very outdoorsy and I love helping friends with their DIY projects and love picking up furniture on the side of the street and complaining that it's too worn to repair lol.

    5. Comfort and quiet - Nice but not top priority. I've driven a bucket w trash suspension for years I dont need much to feel like I'm living in relative luxury.

Hello - 2024 CX-5 20k miles, rental use, and just one oil change recently.

Out the door price of this car is 26k and the dealership has 190 point check, basic manufacturer's warranty l left, seven day buy back, and pretty good ratings.

However, this car has been in the dealership for over 30 days. Should I be concerned or is this a good deal?

Family 3 Row SUV - Ford Explorer vs Lexus TX

At a minimum, I’m looking for a reliable 3 row SUV with AWD and a panoramic moonroof. I’d prefer something a little more fun to drive (currently in a BMW that I love) with 2nd row captains chairs, some premium touches, and that retains its value.

Looking to buy new with an upper limit of $65k.

I think the Ford Explorer ST/Platinum or the Lexus TX Premium are likely where I’ll land. I know these are really different but I like the sportiness of the Ford (not sure how reliable though) and luxury and space in the TX.

Added context, my wife had a Mazda a while ago and won’t consider the CX90 or its Kia or Hyundai competitors because of how plastic-y she said her Mazda was. Maybe not entirely fair but it’s what I’m working with.

What do you all think? Anything else I should be looking at?

    Need advice for first car

Hi! I'm looking to buy my first car. Budget will be less than or around $50k. I'm currently looking at Genesis Gv70

I'm looking for an AWD SUV and a car that is good to drive. I am looking for a big infotainment system like 2026 GV70 or BMW X3 screen. I want a decent looking and reliable car that is good for everyday commute and has decent - good mileage. I'm open to gas or hybrid cars, something that I can keep atleast for 5-10 years. I don't expect to drive beyond 5k-7k miles each year. Need to android auto support. Will also prefer brand new car over used.

I don't know much about cars, so need suggestions on other options that I should look at before settling on GV70.

Note: I have driven a few toyato sedans and didn't like the feel of the drive, so I'm currently not leaning towards toyato, same with Mazda. Kia and Hyundai won't be covered by most insurance companies in my city (otherwise, Kia Sportage would have been my first choice). Since I don't know much about cars, I would prefer a new car over used so I know what I'm getting myself into
