This subreddit will be for spreading the word about the best local musical artists. All genres and acts are welcome, from one-man indie folk artists to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Show advertisements, show reviews, album advertisements, album reviews, and pretty much anything else topical are fair game. I ask that we try to keep this as a two-way forum, not only pimping our favorite local bands, but providing feedback to others as well.

Hey everyone! I’ve been playing drums for around 14 years and am looking to start getting back into playing with a band.
I play mostly rock and am into a lot of classic rock and garage rock revival. Stuff that has fun guitar riffs and energy is my thing (Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Hives, The Black Keys, Queens of the Stone Age, Jack White, etc.).
I don’t currently have anything other than an electric kit since I’m in an apartment so it would definitely be nice to find someone with a rehearsal space.
I also play guitar and can do some vocals, and love songwriting, so if you’re looking for someone who can write songs as well, I’m always down.
I’m definitely looking for some people around my age but am open to everyone.
Feel free to comment or message me!
Hey guys I’m a rock artist by trade but looking to branch out and put my production degree to use. I’m not restricted to genre specifically but obviously do have a forte with rock but I love music in general.
I can work remote and in person. Located less than an hour outside of the burgh. Since I’m all new to this, the only thing I’m concerned with right now is just doing splits until I build a portfolio. If you’re a rock artist here is some of my own work
Hey all, guitarist here looking to join a group or start a new one if there’s any bass players, vocalists, drummers or other guitarists interested. I revolve mostly around rock and metal but I’m open to playing just about anything. Could be covers or originals, just want to jam, maybe perform and record originals too. I’ve got some experience playing and performing with others already. I’m 23 in the monroeville area so shoot me a message if you’re interested
This sub makes me sad for Pittsburgh. Is the music scene really as hillbilly as it appears?
Does anyone know of a person who repairs synthesizers, pedals, speakers, electronics? Right now I have an Axon AX-100 guitar to MIDI converter that needs repair. It does start up but is stuck on one particular setting.
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 13 and always wanted to play with a group of guys. Would be great to play with people who love music and never got to go on and do anything more with it. I’m 26 and love playing music such like doom/stoner metal, heavy blues, and psychedelic. But I’m also extremely open to playing with people who also have their own taste/styles who just want to play with someone else.
I have three electric guitars, amps, and a few pedals and I’m willing to share and bring equipment wherever.
Message me here on Reddit if you’d like to connect. I live in the Pittsburgh area and I’m always down to bring a case of beer with my guitars wherever!
Would love to go to something that isn't just Mr Smalls, Club Cafe, or Spirit. Love these places, but looking for something different tonight.
Hi all, I live in Carrick neighborhood. Lifelong musician, improvisationalist, songwriter, and composer/soundscape creator. I am wanting to create a new band, 3 to 5 members, with songs in a folk vein but flavored with blues, cabaret chanson, world music vibes, sounds, forms. Who's interested?

To cut long story short: I'm recording emo/post-hardcore LP. If there's any drummers out there liking this kind of stuff - let's meet up, jam and record some music. Last thing to say (but not the list) - I plan on using analog gear (reel to reel, analog pres etc.) for the love of Steve Albini (RIP).
My band is touring from Illinois to New York and back in December, and we're not having much luck in the Pittsburgh / East Ohio area. Band name is Harlem Hayfield on all socials. Our genre is a blend of alternative, blues, soul, & funk. Only in the area on Wednesday December 11th. I guess we're looking for either venue contacts or local bands within those genres that we can network with.
My drummer and I just moved to the area and we're looking to build our band back up. We're an emo/alt-rock band and our new album is string/swing heavy and we would IDEALLY want a cellist who can double as a bassist for live shows. ^^ but strings in general are good. We're trying to find a pianist/keyboard player as well. We've played live a few times here with just us.
Shudder and The Cat and Its Prey are two songs off the new album. ^^

Hey yinz, just a guy looking for some new friends to jam with. I moved from about an hour north of the city to Dormont a few years ago. Don't really keep in touch with my old jam buds back home. Would really love to establish something and start playing some shows again.
Big fan of bands like Superheaven/Webbed Wing, Fiddlehead, Cloakroom, etc. Also wouldn't mind dabbling around in some beatdown or slam like Unit 731 or Torture.
Here's some music I made with buds a while back that I'm really proud of (Peel was everyones favorite): https://changejar.bandcamp.com/album/change-jar
