for those that might not have known it exists.
Hi! So i remember watching this video of an outlaw country band sometime in the late 70s early 80s play in austin and i cant remember the name of the band. The guy was super sweaty and theatrical while singing ( probably drunk haha) and i think wearing a light denim shirt. Im pretty sure son also played with him as the guitarist. Does anyone know who this was??
Thank you so much!!
For the most part I'm an older country guy but this song came on at the bar and I had to ask the tender what it was called because I liked it so much
I’m trying to find a specific song & it’s driving me crazy. I’m 99% sure it’s by Hank Jr. It has the same feel as “Red, White & Pink Slip Blues” on the slower bluesy side, definitely not honky tonk & no wild guitar solo. The part I remember is what I think is a very low tuba (maybe synth?) note, drawn out four bars at the beginning of the chorus. It has a pretty “epic” sound to it. My stupid brain won’t let this go until it’s solved, any help is much appreciated
Edit: another close comparison is “The Blues Man” as I don’t remember it being a busy song
Edit 2: I finally friggin found it. The song I was thinking of is “Are the Good Times Really Over” by Merle. He sounds close enough to Hank Jr in this song 🤷🏻♂️
With an interlude about his sobriety.
Rest in peace, Kris.
He was the last of the highwaymen I took a deep dive on. I definitely saved the best for last.
I would put Kris head and shoulders above 99% of song writers of all time. The way he poured his entire heart and soul into each and every song he wrote or covered is unbelievable. He put everything he had into his music and not many people have the stamina for that.
He made the world a brighter place with his music and I'm so fucking thankful to have found him.
Confirmed he passed away at his home in Maui yesterday. Another legend gone
Hey y'all. I'm sure most of you know JRW's music. He's one of the most talented musicians in alt-country today. Last January he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He's been undergoing treatment ever since but the cancer was just found to have advanced to his lungs. He put up a gofundme to help cover medical expenses that his insurance won't cover. If you can swing it please send a little something his way. Every little bit helps.
