Red Dirt has long been described as a mix of country, rock, folk, bluegrass, blues, Western swing, and honky tonk with a sprinkle of Mexican influences. Red Dirt Music is a genre that gets its name from the color of soil found in Oklahoma. The center of the music is considered to be in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with Texas Red Dirt music being the other half. Country music with an attitude.
Red Dirt Music is a music genre that gets its name from the color of soil found in Oklahoma. Although Stillwater, Oklahoma is considered to be the epicenter of Red Dirt music, there's a Texas Red Dirt sound as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dirt_(music).

I saw a band several years back that was an opener. After the concert I downloaded their album on Apple Music and listen to it over and over but I’ve since stopped subscribing to Apple Music so I can’t see it anymore. I can’t remember the name of the band or the album. I do remember that most of the band members were from Missouri but the band was based out of Texas. But I remember one song was a play on the lyrics from “Good Hearted Woman” the lyrics of the chorus were something like “When daddy sang good hearted woman, and held her in his hands, he never thought he’d give her away, to a damned old good timin man”

I briefly heard a song a year ago or so and one of the lyrics have stuck with me however I can’t find the song…
The lyric goes something like this “I hear you’re working at the old BLANK of highway BLANK” or something close to that.
The context of the song is the writer is talking about a woman he used to know who is working at a strip club off of an old highway located in Oklahoma. I feel that it’s a Zach Bryan song however I know his collection well and it can’t be him unless I’m just missing it.
Do your thing Reddit!
I know the album has been scrubbed but does anyone know where I could find a copy of it? Road of life is the album that turned me on to WM. There’s a live version of TYA on YouTube but it just don’t hit like the CD did.
Hey folks, spending a couple of nights in St. Charles, MO. Where can I hear some real music? Despite New Englander. Thanks
This subreddit doesn't have much activity, where are my music people. Here are my current on repeat artists. Who are yours?
Treaty Oak, Huser Brothers, JR Carroll, Wyatt Flores, 49 Winchester(Technically not red dirt). Gannon Fremin and Tanner Usery
Started listening to him about two months ago. Saw him live this week. Great show, he is going places.I like up tempo type ballads with real talk, he is the guy.
Recommend all give him a listen.
Since y'all were able to help me figure out an album I was looking for in like 5 guesses I'm coming back to ask for help again. I'm trying to find Shane Rogers Betrayed album. I can't find it anywhere online. I would buy a non scratched CD or a digital copy. That whole album was great but the song Dixie really stands out.
I lost access to my Spotify years ago that had thousands of songs saved, most by no main stream artist. There is one guys I have literally spent days trying to find. I don't remember his name or the name of the album or even a song name. And actually at the moment I can't remember any lyrics but that will come to me. Anyway, does anyone know a live album that was very piano heavy and I don't think he had a band backing him but I could be wrong. It came up as a similar artist to a red dirt guy, I do remember that. The whole album was amazing.
It was probably 2008-2010 red dirt rockish, reckless Kelly sounding. The song was upbeat edgy revenge sound. There was a song where he says something about sitting in a parking lot, like he couldn’t make it, considering suicide maybe, mention of meth I think?!! It’s driving me crazy any ideas what the song is?! That’s all I remember!!!
Shane Smith and the Saints sold out Red Rocks!
We recently had a chance to talk with Shane about the origins of the band, their long hard road to this point, the songwriting process, Red Dirt music, and more earlier this month.
